Hey everyone, welcome back to the Road to Superman. This is the web series where we follow all the latest updates and rumours regarding the Superman reboot. This is episode 19 and today we finally have our first official look at the new Superman suit. After months and months of waiting and speculation on what the suit will look like, we finally have our first look! This was posted by James Gunn on social media and without further or do, here is the full look at the suit. Now this will definitely be a controversial suit. And personally, this has a got a real Guardians of the Galaxy MCU vibe to it and I don’t think that’s a compliment.

this suit is great, it looks like an mcu suit because the mcu prioritized function over defining the muscles, Thor has royal armor, captain America has a tactical uniform, iron man is a tin can. the only hero in the mcu with skin tight thin material is spiderman

Wait till you see that it’s MCU making a DC movie, the suit is just the start it’s so obvious.
People can whatever they want about the DCEU, but the costumes and scores were always on point with careful attention to details. In MOS, the suit was actually played into the story and was very much a character itself. This was a terrible re-introduction reveal of Superman. Hopefully Gunn is just trolling and might drop a more reveal soon.

April Fool's is long past us. this is what we're getting. this is what the apologists were shilling so hard for. this is why they scrapped the previous universe. not even TV material. I say, let them have their watered down MCU clone. see how long it lasts...

I never understood why in MoS the suit is so colorful if the entire society of Krypton is so gray.
As of meme I saw said: Our expectations were low, but WTF??? Also...this suit was made by a costume pro in Atlanta who makes a lot of the Marvel costumes, according to a buddy in the industry, so it's not surprising that you and a lot of us are getting that Marvel vibe from it.

A lot of the people who worked on Gunn's Guardian films are working on this film such as the costume designers so that's probably why it looks similar to Marvel.
lately there's been a Marvel invasion on DC properties, and it shows. The Flash film had a costume designer and a cinematographer both hailing from the MCU. the results speak for themselves.
This is really bad. Listen, my expectations were extremely low. I have no confidence in this movie or in the leadership of James Gunn. So I wasn't expecting something that would shock me.... but this did it. I am utterly shocked that this would be chosen for a FIRST LOOK!! There's just no excuse for this. Corenswet standing in front of a photo shoot backdrop would have been a far wiser choice than this! I am honestly shocked that they (whoever made these decisions) could have dashed all my hopes for this film more thoroughly than this shot has! Dreadfully bad.
Whoever put this Dollar General emaciated stump double Superman needs to go back to the drawing board. If you’re trying to make DC look like marvel, you hired this guy to ruin the legacy of Superman.

If this is Superman’s first suit ever for the DCU, then it’s fine but if it’s the actual Superman suit then I’m disappointed. It looks bulky, wrinkly all around, and makes me feel as if the suit is cheap. I’m still excited for the movie, by the suit makes me worry about the movies’ quality. But what’s everyone else’s thoughts on this?

Somthing i love is that its gonna get damaged throughout the movie like tobeys Spiderman. I also think the suit is so controversial due to being so different. Didnt play safe and took risk. I think it will grow on people just like pattinsons suit did.

Couldn't they hire the same designer as man of steel and BvS? This is good enough but not THAT designer from man of steel/BvS good. Edit: thank you for mentioning his name in the video. MICHAEL WILKINSON's design is just far superior and they should've hired him back to do another design iteration.
So I just checked the comics and this is heavily inspired from new 52. Although it doesn't have the high collar neck. But the colour and lines and boots are spot on. Red trunks obviously grt plus. All star suit is very bright blue.

Between this and The Batman, this is definitely going to be the era of collars for DC heroes! That said, I think the suit is fine. Good, not great.

Actually reminds me more of the New 52 suit than Injustice. Basically the New 52 costume with the Kingdom Come/My Advenures with Superman logo.
He got the actor so jacked... Now you can't see his muscles from the suit....Good job! Irony is that people don't like snyderverse because the storyline is similar to injustice. Now the suit looks like superman from injustice. Plus, the unnecessary lines. It does not look "skin" or "spandex" kind of suit. It feels very mcu.

It looks baggy and somewhat dark because it's battle worn and probably sustained damage. I bet the suit in its prime condition will look much better, better form fitting, and brighter. I reserve judgment for now.
A spirit of Halloween costume 😂😭 I legit thought it was cosplay when i first saw the pic. The background and materials look cheap as hell and the suit doesn't even fit it. The collar makes his neck loook weird. Gunn and Safran really dropped the ball on this one.

Maybe its just me but i dont mind these suits crunching up when they bend forward (like this picture) like it makes it look more real to me. It would look all smooth and streamlined when he stands up straight and then if he raises an arm the suit with just naturally crunch up a little. Also lets remember its the first movie, they can make small tweaks to make it fit him better if they so choose

This video perfectly summed up my feelings on this image. This is a terrible first-look image of the movie and I don't understand why, of all the images they could've put out, this had to be the one that came out first. To me, this is a very bad first impression of the movie, since normally when you have a first image of a movie it's supposed to be exciting or interesting. This pic does neither, and I really hope that this isn't an indicator of what the quality of the movie will be.
The suit is fine, nice colours. I just hope he plays a good Clark. The actor I don't know anything about him..he looks like a dad dressing up in a cosplay..😅. There isn't a believeable look like the other actors had. They should have had Superman in front of the window looking twords us with his head down or looking to the side. That way the picture would make sense to the backdrop. As long as the cape is long, ill be cool. It looks alright...i guess. I hope my opinion will change.

People hated Pattinson’s suit too, but that didn’t stop them from loving The Batman. The suit looks good and unique, not everything needs to be skin tight with fake padding and a visible bulge on the crotch.
For me, I just don’t pick up on the details like many of you do who have much more expertise in this area so I like it yet my position is that everything to do with this movie “Is what it is” & I don’t compare to other Superman versions. This is Gunn’s version and I expect it to be pretty damn good. The one main thing I think people better get behind is that Gunn is intent on being different and not like the Okd DC style/look. Looking into this a little closer I’m wondering if this is a Kal El who has been beaten up and has to get into his original homemade suit for this one last battle with Brainiac who has joined with Lex Luther ??? Here I was scrolling through my facebook and I suddenly see this suit. I thought it was deviantart but once I've seen the repost throught out the Social Media, it is the real deal. My first comparison of the suit was new 52 style with that kingdom come logo. It could be baggy but then it'll tighten up like its the suit fitting around the body. Unless it may feel a Captain America defintion to it.

My issue with the suit it looks way 2 fake. It looks like a cosplay that a comic con fan would wear, I’ve looked at the fanart 4 David cornsweet as Superman and have 2 say the Fanart is better. I think the logo is fine because it’s supposed 2 be the Kingdom come Logo from Alex Ross, but the suit looks way 2 unrealistic, cavills suit I can believe is a real suit and is believable, no. Shade 2 cornsweet but that’s it.
The fact that the suit in Superman & Lois (a TV show with a fraction of the budget of this film) looks a thousand times better than this speaks volume. If this is David's first home made suit, I guess it's fine. But even then, it's too "high quality" for a homemade design. If it's his final proper suit, then it's terrible. I think that's the problem with this suit. It's too poor quality to be a proper main suit. But to high quality to be a first homemade suit.

Im not whatching the movie anyway but what hurts me is not only Henry getting fired but the fact that David won't wear his suit inside his shirt because of that collar. I do agree that the DCEU costumes look better aesthetically. However, this alone was not enough for the success of the franchise. At first glance, I only liked the boots. As with the crest, I'm starting to get my head around it.

I want to like the Gunnverse but it's not looking upwards to me. It looks like it's aiming for MCU with a new coat of paint. This isn't even about Snyder preference, the new DCU just doesn't look appealing. Well, another year or so until The Batman Part 2...
Yeah, I have to say that I'm 60/40 on this one. The angle REALLY doesn't help. Compared to the sleek, tightly fit snugness of Cavill's costume, this isn't a good image. The cuff at the wrist is definitely jarring but the wrinkles at the shoulders are what kill it for me. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. That said, the idea of Supes throwing his boots on and actually getting dressed is both interesting and different. Honestly, we've never seen it.
Something I like about the emblem that I just realized is it kinda, to me at least, feels like a merge between the classic, Kingdom Come, and Fleischer emblems, which are my 3 favorite Superman emblems. We’ve got the design of the Kingdom Come emblem, with the colors of the classic one, and the yellow border or outline or whatever of the Fleischer emblem, I kinda like that. That doesn’t mean this my favorite or ideal Superman emblem, that’s the classic one, but I still like this one (just took a bit to grow on me since I wasn’t sure about a younger Superman having a Kingdom Come-like emblem when I feel like that works best with an older Superman)

No one else can do justice to the role of Superman except for Henry Cavill. He brings a unique depth and charisma to the character that truly embodies the essence of Superman. I think the problem is that the suit is too thick, so when he bends it crates those weird wrinkles. David Corenswet is jacked now, his trainer posted a picture of him and the guy did gain a lot of muscle so I doubt that the suit doesn't fit. My guess is that Gunn is trying to stay away from the fake muscles pats and highlights painted on the suit choosing a thicker fabric to make his Superman look bulkier. But that is just my guess

I don't like Tyler Hoechlin's Superman suit at all yet he is my favorite Superman to date. I like Cavill's suit but don't like his Superman. If the movie is good and the character is likeable that's more important. I don't hate this new suit, I just need time to get used to it.
Maybe it's just me, but the suit looks like it has burn marks, particular on the right arm and on that side of the \S/ shield...maybe he's just been to a battle and needed to suit up again. 🤔🦸
It's needs to be given a chance. If Snyder had of been given a chance, think of what we could've gotten. So I'll give this ago, go support it and see what comes out the other end, everything has to start off somewhere and I wish others gave this chance to Snyder. So I will give it to Gunn.
🚨 My Facts after examining this photo. Let us break this photo down: I believe the pink sphere in the picture is Solaris. Gunn is inspired by All Star Superman: I believe Solaris was one of the villains in All Star Superman. Solaris has injured Superman and have blocked the yellow sun while fighting Superman; this is wear the damage on suit came from. I see a green light striking Solaris in the picture as well. Superman may be injured and weaken from the first fight. Green Lantern and others are distracting Solaris while Superman recovers. Solaris is overcoming the other heroes and weakened, Clark Kent witnesses they need his help. They need Superman. ⭐️ In this picture, a weakened Superman is putting on his boots for round 2, he beaten and injured but he is preparing suit back up to fight Solaris, who is blocking the sun, all odds are against Clark but he is the beacon of hope; he is Superman. Now in this photo Superman is preparing to give his all to save the other heroes and the world.
I'm also hoping that this is his first homemade suit b/c it looks too man made and not alien made. Hopefully this suit gets destroyed and he gets an upgraded high quality suit at the fortress of solitude.

I think it james gunn plan to release this kind of first look .if any one remember that in past a big theory was given by scoopers that everyone die in gotg 3 (rocket, drax) but no one die .. in movie .. so i guess it first suit made by his earth parents and in later film part we will see him in new suit. James gunn is a very clever person and he knows how to trick scoopers so trust him
