  • It’s amazing to see how much Fox loves the healthy home grown foods you give him. Most kids in the US are so picky because their parents idea of a treat for their kids is something like fried foods or loads of sugar. Raising Fox to have a diversified diet is going to help him so much in the future with his health and cultural curiosity. I wish more people would follow your example for their children. Love the videos, have been watching since episode 3❤

I don’t have any carpentry skills at all, but my older brother spent his whole life since a teenager building homes, administrator buildings, steel siding etc and can put any kind of structure together. That, I feel, is the skills to have in life where you can benefit others and yourself.

  • Jake and Nicolle, I’m not like the majority of your subscribers. I’ve never been, nor will I ever be, an off grid kinda girl, but when I ran across your videos there was something about your personalities that totally drew me in. Aside from the fact that both of you are very easy on the eyes, there’s a calmness and sense of serenity that you project. Your lifestyle isn’t for me, but I truly enjoy watching you and I can appreciate and respect how you have chosen to live. The amount of hard work that goes into your daily life is astonishing, no wonder you are both in such good shape! You are a joy to watch and between the professional filming, beautiful scenery, and soothing music, I’m hypnotized into a relaxing semi comatose state that helps me drift off to sleep at night. I admire your drive, courage, and ingenuity and the addition of Fox has made the episodes even more entertaining! Sending you all good vibes and hugs from North Carolina ❤

Been following you for a few years, you are like kids to me pursuing a dream that I never pursued. I am 67 and at times find you inspiring to stop and go do another project: as I still keep going and learning. I am still "project girl" at this age. As a environmental engineer I have spent my life advocating conservation and re-suse of resources, protection of this earth I so dearly love and living in harmony with the planet. I enjoy watching your family grow, your talents, instincts, and dedication to each other as a family pursuing your dreams and making them a reality with hard work, perseverance and resilense..

Jake looked like he was energized by having the help of a new skilled tradesperson on the site, and Nicole, I bet your cousin learned a few cool new things while he was there as well. Speaking of knowledge and skills...Fox has learned so many new words and is eager to help out and taste-test all the garden goodies. It is soooo cute! I love that you both engage him with the tasks that you are doing so he learns at a really young age the value and rewards of hard work and appreciation of nature. Looks like you might be getting Komorebi ready for the journey to your bugout property in Hawaii soon. Do the foods you pickle, can, smoke, freeze, or otherwise preserve, aid in the spring when you return to have food that can tide you over while you plant the next year's crop, or are there foods that continue growing during the winter that you are able to consume upon your return?

  • Oh no ! I got wrapped up telling my Hemlock story and forgot to tell you that you guys are doing such a great job on getting things set up for yourselves. I also grow my own garden. I'm the only one of the kids who got my mom and dads green thumb. Growing things is my therapy. I can't wait to see how things progress with your home. Your little one is so cute. I'm glad he gets to grow up learning to love nature and how to live off the land.

  • Fox is so adorable and smart! Glad Jake you are speaking in Chinese to him so often. I appreciate your gardening segments as you are a genuine expert vegetable fruit herb gardener! I have plans to work in my NW AZ garden space (small) in a similar fashion you showed in your old days videos back when. I want to commend you on how nice your BC homestead looks these days. Lots of progress! Nice of your cousin to help out!

  • WOW!!! As I watch this I remember vegan travels, the drone shots of the yurt building, Jake’s jitters about being a dad and now this! It’s incredible what saying ‘Yes! to life brings into being. I’m so happy and inspired to witness such vitality, strength, growth, perseverance, faith and beauty. Fox is one blessed being to have you as parents and you are blessed to have him to see the world anew and get to nurture and love him daily. Smoke onions (sliced in strips) in the smoker. They are great for adding some smokiness to dishes and they keep for a long time. Grow sesame seeds and make tahini! I just signed up for your website. I’m excited for more! ❤

  • Of course I was late with my advice. But next time when you install windows, install frames with gaps of at least 1-1.2 centimeters from the rough frame through spacers. This gap is then foamed with foam from the balloon. And there will be no drafts.

  • with the abundance of food you harvest, you should look into a freeze dryer. When using salt to keep away slugs make sure you use some barrier between soil and salt so the salt will not seep into the ground

  • FYI.......... shipping containers dont save you money from a ground up stick build. because you have to use insulation and drywall inside. You can save wall space by using Insulate panel system that will custom fit the walls inside. With the wet climate there your challenge will be rust prevention.
