i really love how you guys take the time to respond to posts and comments here on you tube and answer questions from member and viewers at the SWS. there are still two vids im waiting on the second half of but can wait because i know there are hours of film.
The end result is so stunning and wicked.

Is there anything you can suggest that would give a metal effect on wood, I'm making The Goblin Cleaver from the Hobbit, but I'm not sure what to paint it with, well what paint would give a shiney metal effect, thanks, loved the video it was great :)
Love the paintjobs. Gonna have to try these out now.:) thanks for the help
Love the video posts, the work you have done, and the passion you all have to deliver the treasure from your vaults of awesomeness, where magic truly dwells. The artists and craftsman there are fx wizards, and I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeves. Merry Christmas to all of you! Thanks for putting in the time and effort to bring the goodies out so all of us can marvel! It's just what We wanted!
calabiyou, You are absolutely right. That's why Jamie conducted the entire lesson in an industrial grade ventilation booth. Safety is of premium importance in Creature FX. -Matt
LEGEND. LEGEND. LEGEND. my man talks like a legend. stay blessed king 👑
you guyx are really awesome... we just sit at home and watch the movie with food aside....but you devote yourself to such huge project.. i even cant imagine it.....
More BTS of Predator! Jurassic Park! and more! PLEASE! I love it!
i do alot of armor and costumes and think this is great for someone just learning how to paint their armor. i have seen alot of different techniques for painting this kinda stuff but i love the look from using what looked like a finger nail file and wet paint. i go easy and use large paint brush just dry brushing it all
Great job👊😎
Looking good bro
That’s so cool!
cool mask predator 😍😄😁😁😆
just awesome
Mike! I thought I responded. The link is embedded in the description video above. The lesson is on our site. It's awesome. -John
that's what the school is for. this video is essentially a teaser for just one of the courses available at the site. personally i subscribe monthly to it and it's worth every cent, even for someone like me already doing fx work for films.
Thank you very much John :D
This is awesome. I got a movie FX DVD with Jordu schell sculpting Demos AND a new youtube video From you guysfor Christmas. thanks for the cool videos, I always enjoy 'em!

Khroniikz~ I'll pass this onto Jamie. I know we plan to do another lesson on metallic color effects. You may need to stay tuned! - John
awesome!
I was just wondering if there was a more in-depth version of this lesson. Though I love it, I hardly learned anything. Do I have to buy a DVD or enroll in the school to get the information?
paint on a emery board for a weathered look? Dude, that's awesome.
Any idea where to get a casting/mold of a predator mask? thanks :)
Hi there, do you have any tips for getting a metal effect when your base colour isnt black or sliver ?
What is that stuff you are putting on at 1:00 min in?
merry christmas guys.so next lesson is steve wang painting a full pred suit?
It is realy good
Nice
that's awesome. i wish he wore safety gloves though and a respirator, for health... health and safety's real people! :)
😂😂😂
*Cool ✅🙂*
So to get the tutorial. I have to buy the dvd. shame I could really use this right now. but I can not afford the DVD at the moment. tease...
I missed the tutorial, just got the intro. Where is the actual video at?
You can find it here: bit.ly/MetPntPredYT - Balázs
DeathZone~ Jamie admits that in this short lesson, he's jamming through a quick set of lenses as a placeholder. Of COURSE he's planning a set of proper lenses for any display piece. He wanted a complete look for you guys and we gave him 10 minutes! They cost about 50 cents and I think they're pretty darned effective. No? -John
Using the venerable Alclad II I see. I've been a model builder for over 33 years, and I've used Alclad for the last 12 years. Before that it was Testors Model Master Metalizer. But Alclad is far more robust, and the chrome-like colors are the shiniest I've ever used. Great for bare metal finish aircraft. And Paasche H, can't beat that 80+ year old design!
TheShadowed~ Tons more of both on the way. Also... The other movies haven't even been TOUCHED. We have so much coming. - john
I'm pretty much sold on getting a subscription with the school, however I'm wondering..is there already a lesson on how to make things like that helmet from scratch? I would be an absolute beginner to this sort of thing but special effects has always been a HUGE interest of mine.
TheCat~ Whoa. We're touched. Listen, if it weren't so fun to give it, we wouldn't be. So just keep coming back. Tell your friends. Share these things with kids. Let's build the next generation of Monster Fanatics... together. You guys are the best fans in the world. - John
Nice video, I think I'll buy this one. Can we get hold of those castings from the actual mask anywhere? Also, SWS, is it true that you found a hero P2 bio a while back and they are no longer lost? I would love to have an accurate P2 hero mask one day, Love that design. Many thanks.
bowser515 The Bio's painted in this are not available for sale sorry about that but you can make your own with a 25% discount this weekend so come on over and visit the school. Promo Code BLACKFRIDAY or CYBERMONDAY. - Erich
Hey, I recently sculpted a P2 Hero Bio, let me know if you want a raw one. You can PM me on Hunter's Lair under Predatoj.
We'd love to see how it turned out mellodge. Please post a pic on our Facebook wall! -Matt
Stan Winston School Sure thing!
Alexander~ Well, yes. You have to do one of those things... OR you can purchase the STREAM for and that stream is your to watch as long as you're registered as a free user on our site. That's the key, though. You gotta go to our site to see the full lesson. This is one of our shorter lessons and it's an hour and a half long. From one of the dudes that paints the robots in the big movies that you watch. This is the real $&%#. The URL is above in the description. Tell us what ya think. - John
Sean, you can buy the DVD or stream it alone ($20) as part of a Stan Winston School subscription. If you choose to subscribe, you can do it for as little as $20 a month for a limited number of videos per month. AND there's a 3-day free trial. Really we do try to make this affordable. - David
I apologize.that is affordable.just saving money rite now for props to paint.and I may get a dvd in the near future. can you say how long and detailed the dvd is.
Perfecto..
I am making an iron man suit using a program called pepakura, and i am trying to figure out how to wire one battery source to all the lights in the suit can some one maybe help?. - Josh
i m not getting an option to share it.....whenever it will get!! i share it.......love your work......!! :)
BENewWorld~ Not sure what's different about what your asking for and what we're DOING! Have you been to the link at the top of the description? We have 150 hours of tutorials to help young filmmakers and Creature Effects Artists to DO IT! They're ALL DIY and they're ALL ONLINE. Gotta go to our school and then let me know what ewe can do to improve THAT experience. Maybe even tell us how to make it clearer that we're already doing what you want! Best~ John
Where can I get one of the plastic predator helmets from
This one is from the original mold, not for sale, sorry. - Balázs
Try the guys at the Hunter's Lair. - David
oh sorry I thought this was manly online. I did know you guys are an actual FX studio doing movies I thought you guys were just doing behind the scenes stuff on youtube I didn't know there were classes you could take. Thanks for the clearing it up.
Best comment I've read in a while!
This is what I want to do to my car's interior trim pieces.
And also for my next iron man suit i would like to know how can i find out how to make it look metal?. - Josh
Jesussaves - Um... Stan's been gone for four years. Til the day he died, his company was churning away at little shows like Avatar and ALL the Iron Man Films to name a few and about 100 commercials a year. Since his passing, the studio, now taken over by his four top artists and renamed Legacy Effects, has been working on tiny web series like Real Steel, the NEXT Iron Man, Robocop, the Life of Pi and about 100 commercials a year. How about YOU? This is fun! And Merry Christmas!
I kinda of think this would be cool if you could do some DIY tutorials for those young filmmakers like me, who want to become better with FX and making movies. maybe showing us how the pros do it then how we could do it
No respiration protection?????
How much is your course??? This is right up my alley since I teach Acting for Film, TV & Stage... (I started with Props and Set Design) ... I love your work...
Pred! We're HOT ON HIS TAIL on that... he may need a BIT more encouragement... but that's what 2013 is all ABOUT! - John
if you need more molds and info > Renegadeeffects.com I think that Dragon was actually in that first shot of the movie in the background I couldn't tell it was a little too quick... But contact him if you need more items for the school i am sure he would be glad to hear from you!
I make that in 1/35 and 1/72 scale models
i can make a predator P1 costume replica?
You can! Here's some help: www.stanwinstonschool.com/tutorials - Balázs
Something so simple as a mail file
Hey Sean, The DVD is highly detailed and runs roughly one hour and twenty minutes. -Matt
ka5p3r~ A perfectly valid technique. Of course... This one blew my mind. Jamie is a true pro. - John
I want such school in my country ;D
thats made my christmas... time to harass steve on facebook now
I do indeed understand you have to trick in people to become paying members so you could earn a buck... Warming up and then... nadda zilch till you pay. Yeaa i do understand the definition of preview in this case.
Hi sorry i have a question, can you pls tell me how to do a Chrome effect to my cosplay?
Hello Charlotte! With this course, you can learn how to make a chromed steel effect on your cosplay as well. Click here: bit.ly/MetPaintPredYT - Balázs
Stan Winston School Thank you ❤️👍🏻
Lovely finish but where is the respirator? Dont mess with paints and aerosols.
hey it's me :D joke... ^^
do you know what "PREVIEW" means?
while only a preview (which is clearly stated and implied by it's brevity), i did understand a lot of what was going on here
Check out the Predator prop builder's forum, The Hunter's Lair: bit.ly/1dOtTJO *****. You might find what you're looking for. -Matt
+Stan Winston School what techniques do you think they used to paint the armoured bat suit in batman v superman im looking to paint mine but i want it to be absolute perfection in colour iv just subscribed to the school and would really appreciate a professionals opinion. regards
Soooo have you done any thing from a movie in the last 10 years.....while I love the classics I mean Predator, Jurassic Park, Aliens, Terminator seem to be what you cycle through. Any thing new?
In the first movie they weren't mesh. We didn't see that until Predator 2.
Ok you showed it, but that's about it, no further explanation, pity!
preditor
It might be a strange concept to you, but some people do work, and they require money to do so. Weird how the world is, eh?
Well that was a waste of 1.31minutes of my life.
Said nothing and learned nithing.😴😴
