Cast Iron Campfire Breakfast with Zed Outdoors. Foraged Wild Mint Tea. Making a Simple Bench.
In this video, I meet up with Zed from Zed Outdoors for a bit of Breakfast and a good old chin-wag in a small local woodland next to the river. After making a makeshift bench to sit on, foraging some wild mint to make tea, collecting and processing firewood and lighting our camp-fire, we sit down to prepare breakfast, a mountain man style breakfast of vegetables, sausage and egg.
Zed has a well established and respected reputation within the bushcraft and youtube community and has been making videos for a long time with some of the biggest names in bushcraft and green craft. I have been enjoying his work for years and it was a pleasure to finally meet him in person and share a few stories and banter over a relaxed breakfast. ‘Landfill’ Recipe
Recipe can be varied depending on taste and what you have!
2x bell peppers
1x red onion
4x large mushrooms
4x sausages (meat removed from casing) or vegetarian
4x rashers bacon
4x eggs
Grated cheese (cheddar)
Hot sauce of your choice
Chop up veg roughly.
Fry veg and meat in vegetable oil until meat is cooked through and the vegetables are softened.
Crack in the eggs and mix through.
Stir until the eggs are cooked.
Add grated cheese and allow to melt through.
Serve with a good dollop of hot sauce.
Wraps optional.

When I lived in San Diego, California, I sometimes would go to a taco shop before work, and get a “breakfast burrito”. Your breakfast reminded of that. They put some potato in them too. (Just cut up potato the same size as your veggies and cook in pan together.) Yummy!
Zed was quite complimentary. Even in the middle of the woods, the British keep their civility and grace. Love it.

It's ironic that this old video should show up in my feed this morning. I make a version of "landfill" all the time. In fact, it's cooking now as I type. This morning, I put in chopped up smoked ribs we had at camp this past weekend.

I am always so EXCITED to get anything from you. Your adventure and camping videos are always so PURE and a just a "feel good'. Your countryside is amazing. No need to go anyplace else . You have it all there. Even if you camped in the same spot over and over it would NEVER get old because you show us something different each time. We actually get to see some of the beauty in nature instead of looking at the person face the WHOLE ENTIRE time. Besides, it motivates me to paint what I love most>>>anything in nature. thank you.

Chilli for breakfast! Reminds me of my Old Man's sea stories...one ship he sailed on had an Indian crew, there was curry for lunch, dinner, supper AND Breakfast!
I met a chef who despite being English worked with the Gurhka's for years...could put out 3 curries for the evening meal no sweat! 😉

good video... My grandson says that he likes that table and the little folding grill looks like a transformer… he went out to his mothers garden and yanked up two handfuls of mint, from his mother garden, gathered up a couple arm loads of sticks and twigs, laid them out like you did went and got my zebra pot and a grill a jug of water and drug me outside to the side yard and wanted me to light the fire and brew up some tea… LOL so I tossed in a couple earl gray tea bags and a few sprigs of mint… I don’t recommend it but for a late afternoon outside with the boy it was great

Zed Outdoors and Kent Survival are longtime favorites of mine. You find yourself in very good company! Well...why shouldn't you? Zed's channel needs a bit of a lift since he has a time-demanding day job. After an hiatus, he is back in the woods. Might you visit his shelter for a follow-on joint video? By the way Simon, thank you for the information about your knife. Mine just arrived, and I really like it. Bushcraft boar knife is perfect for camping. I've felt so much more at peace now that I've got my kayak and try getting out once a week. If the weather cooperates I'll go out two or three times a week until winter gets here. Again thank you for your enthusiasm being out on the water, it was the encouragement that got me to buy the kayak. I'm enjoying my outings.

I used to make something similar but baked it into cornbread and we called it "suffering suckatash" lol if I spelled correctly... It literally had whatever was handy at the time... Very good though.. 😂

I haven't seen Veggie sausages here yet (Haven't looked for them), but we have Veggie Hot Dogs (which dissolve if boiled too long) and the latest is plant based hamburgers with a list of ingredients a mile long. I think I will stick with real meat until they find cave paintings of a salad.
