When Blizzard said they were not gonna hold PTR’s for SOD i didn’t realise we were signing up to zero in house testing. The mess with incursions and ST over-tuning at the start of P3 has dented my enthusiasm for SOD. Enjoyed the hell out of P1. Thought we’d see more new stuff in Azeroth.
You go to a pvp server because your friends want to pvp, but then they quit, and then you're stuck with a character that you've built. I made my character on wild growth at the start, but was forced to play on living flame so I can play with them.
Same happened to me. Rerolled after ID 1 of Phase 2

I don’t get the appeal for pvp realms. All the arguments people bring, I have yet to see and I played on pvp realms all the way since classic 2019 & never have I encountered a „fun“ world pvp encounter, it’s mostly just griefing
When sod came out, I didn't play the first 2 days. I couldn't even make a character on Living Flame when I finally logged in. I started leveling on wild growth and told my friends and family, "I can't even make a character there." All they said was keep trying because they already started. They were lvl 8-14. I almost screamed at them, "You don't understand, I've been trying for hours, and I can't make a character there." Eventually, I got "lucky" and got into the server. It was 5 to 1 vote. It was either keep trying or just go play myself. Ironically, I ended up playing alone anyway... 😔
#1. You're never forced. You just make it up to yourself. #2. Friends quitting isn't unique to pvpers. #3. Learn to play by yourself and enjoy the game. Don't let your friends dictate where and how you play. Make new friends.

completely crushed it with the expectations for what sod actually is. I am having fun speeding through classic zones ive never actually seen (I never hit end game in tbc or vanilla so a lot of this is actually new to me). But I thought we were gonna get more grounded actual questlines like Epoch or Turtle wow.
Left living flame as Horde because my guild wanted to be able to actually next phase. Getting camped at raid entrance for 20 minutes anytime someone needs a summon or anything was not fun but I am really missing the open world PvP.

Tello, I love ya, but there seems to be a reading issue here. It says clearly this is based on raid logs. All this is saying to me is less people are logging the raid, likely due to the fact that its 20 man and genuinely challenging (meaning more teams are more picky). Coming from the perspective of someone who played a lot of hardcore, I feel lucky to have enough people to get in there and clear content with. I play on Living Flame and personally have no issues at the moment, though I do raid with a guild
Yea I agree with you, I think more of my video also was focused on things I have been hearing from folks informing me as well that this has been kind of hurting the server overall with the character transfers. Also, even though it is raid logs, it does kinda show a decent trajectory of what it was like in those phases. Like P1 towards the end was dead. P2 obviously gave folks issues, the pug scene was horrible, and and people did not like Gnomer. P3, you probably already know the issues there. Not saying LF is doomed or anything but it would concern me if something like Chaosbolt happened to us.

I will most likely stick to sod throughout because I’m a casual player and haven’t reached max level yet but I’d watch any of your videos about any game. Just love your style and how you do things and your opinions are usually the same as mine. I hope they really amp it up for phase 4 but we will see. Let me know if you try the private server!
I was on Horde side LF and moved all of my characters off. I couldn't level any of my alts bc I was constantly griefed in Ash Inc. Ironforge pro is based off of parses, so it would make sense that the chart is much higher in P1 as people were parsing on multiple toons. I think it makes the drop off look worse than it actually is.
First just wanna say love the vids... keep em comin :p i think the number of ppl parsing on 3, 4, 5 characters in p1 also can skew the numbers a bit too. Now that we've had p2 and into p3 its getting harder and harder to keep up with that many alts. I could definitely be wrong just my opinion :p
I've found many folks on our server actually don't like pvp... I still haven't figured out why folks roll on a pvp server when they don't like to pvp. I think the best way to make seal twisting a thing is to make a set bonus or something that make a seal cast off the GCD.
When looking at the graphs Can you pull up the other servers ? After people seeing how fast is was to level in P1 and they might of got locked out of some servers. Might be a decline on one PVP server but a rise on the other cause Crusader Strike is booming
I fully understand the desire for more content, but having shareholders limits what risks you can take.... that being said if we look at the jump SoM done to SoD and if SoD seems popular who knows what a Season of Future could look like Stellar commentary as always too

These are just the guild and groups that log and upload them correct? Our guild doesn't log much at all, also we were running three raids a week the other two phases so with logs you'd see a drop in weekly logs by 66% because we can only raid once weekly and people are focusing less on multiple alts because of time investment per character needed
Yea it seems like its more based on logs and that is why I said I take this data with a grain of salt, because the server itself can be fine. However, I just been hearing this from people and I don't want my server to end up like Chaosbolt did or have to be forced to migrate elsewhere.
i would like to see us all just go to one server, and they implement war mode. sometimes I want to open world pvp and sometimes i dont. I like the option in retail to be able to bounce back and fourth.

Allowing people to change from pvp to pve servers is a really bad choice on blizzards part. That’s all I’m gonna say about that. I can’t believe I’m gonna agree with McConnell, however I have been saying they should I copy paste PVP RET paladin from WOD. And man the pve paladin in WOD was also really awesome!!! It’s easily one of the best iterations of paladin. Bro the wings the HoW usable while wings is up at any %. The Crème de la Crème of paladins. I’m just gonna say this also WOD wasn’t that good of xpac but the paladin design was one of the best they did for ret specifically. Great video buddy lock it in!

yea like I said I'm taking this with a grain of salt, I am not sure of the 100% data info it's providing is legit, but people have complained to me as well for folks leaving Living Flame to PVE servers.

i am going to give SOD its due at 60, no matter what ... the multi tier sets, a couple new raids hopefully a new dungeon and BG but those are stretch goals... will be interesting to see. BUT come june, when epoch is released... Ima dwarf shaman full time with an undead pally alt -- ive played 2 of the betas and they are doing a great job, i just wish they would support shaman tanking.
i just wish it could be streamed and that it could have a real support system... Recently in one of the interviews, a WoW dev DID SAY that they could be open to supporting a project outside of blizzard if they had the right qualifications and vision.... heres to hopin (copin)
Also, to speak on the creativity of SOD, I really believe their team is all engineers, they really need to get proper designer/artist perspectives mixed in to achieve the creativity that Epoch has. They have also fibbed quite a few times, with things like "we cant change things because of era" um hello, they just changed TALENTS on druids and they have added literal spells through books. They have the ability to do more, they just dont have the capacity / budget for it . their changes are also extremely TAME. they are adding things in such a blasé way with things such as shamans killing a warlock ? for mental dexterity? this should have been a quest about taking attack power and turning it into spell power, like going to thrall and involving him in an interesting way or sure going in and killing waste wander thieves and purifying the water they are pumping or something. there are many things that i could go on about but the game is just fallen short the same way retail has where i just believe they are doing bare minimum. Look at No Mans Sky... They have sharpened their game and have done so much in half the amount of time with less folks because they LOVE their game and have the resources to do what they do.

Something similar happened to my server I was playing in ChaosBolt-US Pretty chill server with nice people and a community that knew each other After they locked the server it just died, Ironforge pro says that last Weekly player count according to raid logs is 100 players from 7400 we had before Pretty sad but we couldn't do anything I hope your server doesn't bleed more players
For me, Alterac Valley will be a critical tipping point in phase 4. A good implementation of it will be better than any pvp "event" ever could. If they just give us the 1.12 unaltered version it will be just 10min honor grinds. We need a revamped version with all the old quests and bosses (that they removed from earlier versions) and buffed npcs. By that time, Project epoch will be out too and it will be the time to make a decision whether to stick with sod or switch. The idea of playing an unlayered, remastered classic+ on a server that actively discourages addons is a really enticing prospect for me cause that latter part will drive away most sweatlords

I'm not on your server but my guild and I have made the choice to try and make the alliance life painful on the server to push them off. And its not just my guild its a server wide thing on the horde over here. Now that the xfers is a thing. I'm not super interested in that kind of thing right now. Phase 3 just isn't hitting. Last epoch might be the place for me for a while. I just going to raid log in phase 3. Phase 1 was best by far even though my enhance shaman was the worst dps in the game by far and got ignored by blizzard for the entire phase.
Grant war mode please! We should have a choice for world pvp. That would help living flame server.
The data come from warlogs ...so you just see ppl who are aktiv logging. So the data makes perfectly sense because BFD has no barrier everyone could easy join an clear the raid. With phase 2 thats changed a bit abd with phase 3 an the overtuned ST Raid in the first week less and less ppl are raiding. So the data matches with what we see, but i think there is a large population that just have no interesed in raiding ... so maybe the health of Living flame isnt that bad...
it's alts, phase1 people were able to raid on 3+ alts cus of the lvl being so low. now you have less raiding on multiple alts

People don't know what they signed up for, that's the problem. I didn't realize SoD was gonna add tons of PVP loot with Incursions and Blood Moon. The problem with PVP right now is everything is inflated, people's damage, their access to gear this early, their access to rep. It's unnatural and no one could have predicted it. If you came into SoD late, you have no rep, everyone else is already Exalted with everything and flexing about how easy it was.
Its bout to get worse if they keep this 50% damage reduction in PvP.. We need a video on it tello cuz its ridiculous. Might as well take the weekend off from playing the game, and WHEN WILL THEY ADD DIMINISHING RETURNS?! FEAR IS CRAZY NOW.

My only guess to why they gave people the chance to leave is that PvP is much, much different than Vanilla. Maybe people thought it would be closer to that, rather than the burst Meta that it is and gave them an out. That's the only thing that makes sense in my head. Wish they would let me join Living Flame so I could be in your Guild, I heard you guys could use a Feral LoL!

I though with Seal Twisting making a Rune that increases Seal Damage by around 50-75% - this would compete with Art of War. A Rune that increases the Proc Rate of Seal of Command - This would boost Twisting Damage but increasing the Proc Rate but it would be also good for players who don't want to Twist and they can use the SoC Rune with Divine. With improved Seals it would be cool if twisting Command and Righteousness gave some sort of buff for 30s and Twisting Command and Martyrdom gave a damage boost. I think another Rune Could be after Crusader Strike you get a Proc that allows your next Seal to Hit x2 or have increased damage further. The Main thing in SodD with Seals Twisting is it just needs to do more a lot damage, Caster Crit for 4k in SoD and Seal Twist Crits don't even hit half of that right now. In TBC no other class could do the burst damage of a Seal Twist. I think thats the Route they should go for Twisting. We don't need filler abilities because we have less Free GCDs to twisting so removing AoW spam would make Seal Twisting run smoother, just increase the raw Damage of Seal Twists.

TBH, I was super impressed from what I saw from the private server stuff
I rolled horde on living flame day 1. I LOVE world pvp and its a big reason why I do anything in the game. That being said, I played Alliance on Herod in Classic and have seen first hand how fast a server decline can snowball. Ive dealt with the corpse runs to raid, leveling in only dungeons, and not being able to farm certain consumabels etc. All the pains of being the smaller faction. Because I love world PvP. But the truth is after a certain point its not pvp anymore its just you not playing the game. And I saw the signs on Living flame horde side. I jumped ship right away when they opened uo these transfers and went to Wild Growth. Found a chill guild right away. Everyone seems a lot friendlier than back on living flame. The point is dont ruin your game experience. You can still pvp on a pve server

People go to PvP because their friends go to PvP servers. Also PvP servers in 2004 were a bit different the servers were much much smaller. even a 1% faction imbalance is a huge number of players. The vast majority of open world PvP is either ganking, getting ganked, or number imbalance on one side or the other. Its very very very very rare now-a-days that youre going to come across anything close to a fair fight open world. Our small guild is just our raid team and we had the vast majority vote to xfer and did so last night. Wild Growth seems to be popping off. I dont know if you tried to level via ashenvale on your server after the first night but world "PvP" made leveling just a nightmare of getting murdered by raid groups of players griefing.
I'm on dying flame as well. 20-man raids killed pugs. My guild is still 6/8 and have needed to fill with pugs since p3 week 1. We cant keep people and even started to lose people. We were 15 strong and now we're down to 12. The content is too hard for pugs/casuals, at least eranikus mob health is too high for us. I'm constantly seeing people trying to fill raids and it's hard to compete when you don't have the raid on farm. The gold inflation is also very bad for alts to help fill out other raids. I love sod and my guild, but I'm ready to move on.
The problem is not open world pvp, the problem is people want open world pvp to be balanced and with how layering works no matter if they force faction balance server wide they cant enforce that in layers so it ends up giving the perception of faction imbalance which is never fun to be camped 24/7 when trying to do incursions and you end up as horde in a layer thats 99% alliance.

Phase 1 people raided on like 5 alts. All those alts died off on the phase 2 leveling. That’s what the graph shows.

On top of economy issues, exploits, and pvp still being very bursty. This is not to say SOD has not been fun. And game decline does naturally happen. I'm just concerned for my server since I enjoy Living Flame, that is all.

I told yaaaaaa =[ it’s not just your server brother. Lone Wolf is about to be *the lone wolf* with just me on it.. Lone Wolf went from high-pop toxic pvp to medium snooze-fest over night *HOWEVER* it happened before the free transfers, which tells me ppl are bored AF, which I can feel too. I am finding that I’m playing wishing there were more to do, thinking there should be, nd slowly playing less and less as the denial becomes more apparent.

Most of the people i know that left…..left bc they dont like the mechanics of vanilla and when they started banning people for anything and everything. Buying stuff selling stuff worrying if that person had bought gold ur doing a transaction with….that’s what I have heard from those people I know. I’m on Lone Wolf and am planning on changing over to a pve server I came to LW bc my guild picked it and i did PVP on Whitemane for Wrath but wasnt as annoying as this time for some reason 😂 I’ve said it before and I’m say it again …pretty sure SoD is just a funnel to get people into Retail. I signed up for Project Epoch a few months ago and then phase 2 released…gonna try it out and maybe skip the toon transfer 🤔
Turns out, players don’t want degenerate world PvP that prevents gameplay for hours and that makes the game just not fun to play. Especially with the horrible layering. I believe implementing war mode would benefit the PvP servers greatly. Give players the choice. Luckily, I started one day after P3 roll ou on Living Flame, leveled an alliance priest, healed raid for the guild on that Sunday and had a decent time. I had another group of friends on Horde side Lone Wolf and created a shaman, raided, and found out the incursion area was becoming just near unplayable. It definitely devolved over time and became a degenerate experience with how many layers were just faction controlled and no one could quest. It’s a bad day when one of the best honor farms becomes camping incursions and raiding Mara portal rooms. Some people started PvP servers and then just go so very tired of it. I don’t blame them.
At 10:30 into the video and it seems obvious that this website tracks chars, including alts. Many of us said F alts for the last phase. I had to level two chars that never seen gnomer that I raided on every week in phase 1. Now that professions are upto 300 many ppl see that as a reason to level alts and get them “kinda rdy” for next phase. My opinion, just better then yours 😂
I totally understand what your saying. I do think however the graph does kinda of give a general analysis of what happened doe throughout P1, P2, & now P3. P1 was hype, everyone was playing it and at the end it was stale, (which is normal for a game when stuff is getting cleared). Phase 2 brought issues, people weren't as excited due to the nature of how hard the raid was for the pugging culture overall. Most people in strong raiding guilds were able to clear, even before the nerfs and after the nerf. But many of pugs were not. People were turned off by P2 at that time. Now with P3 around a lot of good and many of bad decisions were made. Not saying the game is not fun but definitely right now the weakest of ALL the phases we had. PVP is in a bad state, economy is beyond fucked, and pve is just incursions which were designed poorly, and raid logs. You can claim your opinion is better than mine, I ain't tryna have a dick measuring contest 😆 I'm just here to give you my take and stand by what I say.

turns out people don't really like forced world pvp, especially in an iteration where things are even more unbalanced. hopefully next time they either create systems that incentivize world pvp while at the same time discourage camping/grey killing, or just implement war mode "organic" world pvp hasn't existed since 2006 and it's never coming back

I don't think it's that hard to understand: the raid was easier in phase 1, what you had to do in the game less, and the world and pace of the game classic. Keep getting away from a classic MMO feel, and you'll get less population. If they just had expanded the content with real things and enhanced 1.12.1, I don't think we would be here. My 2c

Looking back on it… it was fully into when WoW just couldn’t grip me he same as previous expansions could, but at the same time it sucks how they keep almost revamping classes especially considering how they end up landing on something less fun than what they had just because they totally botched it with power creep or whatever. They’d get a good idea, then yoink! Redesigned the entire class and all the fun is gone!
Yea when I looked at it more I was like "You know what I can see SOD Devs doing something like this in some weird form, and making this work for twisting users". It was a thought and just wondering if they will every approach that idea.
I uninstalled when Blizzard over and over again kept literally throwing all the time spent grinding stuff like wsg to the trash or emerald nightmare just to nerf trinket and so on. If Blizzard doesn't care about grinding then I don't care either, no reason to play an mmo that's a theme park and you get everything for free.

I thought we’d see new things too. The more we get into this season the more I feel hoodwinked. It was the bare minimum to get people back online subscribed. Just like most of what blizzard is doing lately, IMO. Diablo 4 is also the minimum-viable-product, and a massive disappointment. They’re cashing in on the rabid love of classic blizzard games, but they’re not capable of doing anything new. That’s the reality, if you ask me.

That's face it, blizz dropped the ball once again. Game is dying, game is trash. Cata is in, and it'll die too, when new retail xpac comes, and the cycle repeats. Blizz needs to hire a lot of people to manage everything they're doing, cause these little teams can't do all these projects, they can barely keep servers up...Also project epoch is going to explode once it comes out.
