Happy 70th Birthday Nile Rodgers
That's one famous person I'd like to know in real life. A special gift to humanity.
Man, what a treasure.
Not only is he a genius (and more), he's one of the best book writers ever ... check out his autobiography!
😃 thanks 4 the suggestion.
absolutely inspirational
What is the title of his book? I have been a Chic fan since I was about 13. Before them, never even really listened to music.
My copy arrived today.....
@@mattevans7884 what is the title of the book please?
Nile is slowly becoming my new favorite person
He is an absolute legend! 🙏😇
Yes. Okay all the hits, all the omnipresent sound of decades of pop music he authored, but he's so cute and funny, so endearing, not afraid to cry and express sincere appreciation and love toward others (like the time he and Sheila reunited live for Spacer song), he's so real. I mean, I don't even like his kind of music that much, I don't prefer it personally, though like some still sometimes, but man. What a guy!
What's exceptional about Nile is that he has engaged in various types of music and has had sucess in ALL OF THEM. A true GOAT in music!
One of the greatest Record producer ever… man truly talented…
Don't forget, Musician, and Music Arranger.
Nile is on another level of existence.
Oh! I love that definition!
'We are family' is beyond MASSIVE.
01:08 "We got two bottles of Dom Pérignon which we used to call rock'n'roll mouthwash". Haaa! Great! 😅 😂 🤣
One of the biggest songwriters and producers in the entire music industry of all time. Period. He didn't just create hits, he made iconic songs for so many different artists. Genius and legend.
Nile is the reason I started guitar
An American Icon. Seen him twice with Duran Duran and he’s incredible.
"Le Freak" was the number one song on the Billboard chart on the day I was born: December 10, 1978
You are lucky! So make sure that song is played on your birthday aniversary. I like the song too. A lot.
OK... I must claim ignorance and admit that until this moment, I had never heard of Nile Rodgers. Certainly, I knew his music but I never put a name to that fabulous body of work. So this video was a real treat for me. I am just blown away with how affable and well-spoken he is. It was my loss to not be aware of his personal contributions until now. On the other hand, it's really nice to "discover" something/someone we have been missing. Respect, Mr. Rodgers! 🙏
Why are you surprised he’s well spoken? He’s a music genius.
@@victoriagarcia5533 Your statement makes absolutely no sense. Being a "musical genius" has absolutely nothing to do with that person's ability to express themself verbally in normal conversation. I'm assuming, of course, that your question is not merely a rhetorical one.
@@DeutschlandGuy It wouldn’t surprise me that he was well spoken. I knew who he was. He’s a writer and musical genius. You never heard of him and saw him an assumed he wasn’t well spoken. Just an observation.
When it comes to Nile Rodgers the discoveries never stop. I'm a huge fan of his and I keep finding out more stuff that he wrote and also many songs that sampled him. A true living legend.
What question? For a question to be rhetorical, it must first be asked. As you so apptly put it, ”your statement makes absolutely no sense”.
I was a kid when “Le Freak” came out. My best friend turned me on to it. (Her mom was 26 and was really into Disco and “Soul” (rhythm and blues). I listened to the “C’est Chic” album dozens of times. Nile Rogers is really a genius. 👑
Boy, so few people can die knowing that they have made a significant positive impact. Niles is one of them.
Nile Rodgers is just next level. I love how he was hooked on the concept of "RAM" and didn't even need to hear a demo! He's a musical genius -- but not just that, he also understands how to dress complex ideas in artistry, and how to make that artistry hit the charts. Very few musicians can write stuff that other musicians envy and the masses love.
wow,this guy is beyond legendary.
The interesting thing about this is Niles has a lot more hits they went over in this clip. As much as a Niles Rogers fan I am, there are so many more songs I've heard of and like that I didn't know he composed. Amazing! Look him up and you'll see what I'm talking about if you don't already know.
A legend Ross Chic Duran Duran David Bowie Madonna And, even INXS… Introduced to a lot of this through MTV… 🤩
Add Thompson Twins, Keith Urban, Pitbull.
Daft Punk
B52
That last story is amazing. I never would have guessed that was the original intent of the song. Honestly that makes it even more surprising that it kept that intent!
Nile is just a wonderful Cool, Tidy, Creative & Humble guy!!!
I ADORE Chic!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE Them!!! xoxoxoxoxo .. My FAVE song of their's is " My Forbidden Lover " .. THAT is my JAM!!
Such a talent and comes across as a really lovely man.
one of the MANY things i have always liked about Niles is he has always championed Duran Duran, which is a tough stance to take in an industry where people always want to put them down as a lame teen boy band. their first album is a personal favorite of mine.
They're awful
@@monkeytennis8861 like you’d know, Alan
Indeed, Nile even used to say that they are his second band after Chic. The band loved Roxy and Bowie exactly like him. And remember that his bros Benny and Tony played in Powerstation. Nile os such an humble and loving man. Great soul!
@Monkey Tennis you've got terrible taste
I have worship his talent and music for last 44 years.....AMAZING MAN
way too humble for what his impact on music is. bless.
Songwriter and gifted 🎸 guitarist. It is true your gift will make room for you. Nile is that example
Nile, you're a simply a GENIUS, last time a see a chic live was in 2018 and he enjoyed like a 20 y.o. thanks for your music dear Nile
Man, what a life. What a legend!
He's my man,say it loud,FREAKOUT!
So, my mom and sister saw Cher live, and afterwards when they were telling me about it, they were describing the opening act. They said they forgot his name, but that he was an older black man with long dreads who talked about being on a bunch of disco songs. I cut them off and said, “You saw Niall Rogers live?!?!” I didn’t even wait for them to talk about the Cher show, I just kept asking about what Niall Rogers did.
Who's 'Niall'?
I was hoping he'd explained his collaboration with The B 52's and "The Loveshack".
Wow The Real Mr. ROGER'S N DA BLACK HISTORY'S MUSIC OF GENIUSES! 💯💖I WE forgot He produced all of those Artists n Chic 💯💯💖💖💖Now who's Richer U or Elton? Amazing!
Probably one of the best compliments about my guitar playing was “You’ve got that Nile Rodgers thing going on”. And that’s when I realized he’s definitely one of my influences. Such great stuff!
What an interesting man
improve your vocabulary and learn more words. Nile Rogers is an amazing man, a brilliant man, a great man, an awesome man.
@@pusanghalaw he ain’t being mean
@@pusanghalaw how do you sound like an english teacher pushin 50 but at the same time, an eleven year old dork
Indeed.
He did halo 2 also
This man was even an influence on Pink Floyd when they were writing Another Brick in the Wall Part. 2
Really?
@@theWARMJET yes.
Now as I think about it, you're right.
Absolute legend!!
What a career! This man has a fingerprint on so much great music & times!!
Wow. I've always loved Nile for his musical talent and now I see more of his genius revealed. I met Nile by accident in his bedroom in NYC in the 80's. My friend was his dog sitter and I was hanging with her. Well in walks Nile with his wife. Of course he was the coolest dude.
He doesn’t deserve flowers he deserves the whole garden
Wonderful interview! Would’ve liked to hear about his work with Steve Winwood..🎵
Spacer by Shelia B. Devotion was another great song produced by Nile!
I love Chic and the records he produced for other artists. Nile is a legend.
Love this! Big love for Nile!
Barry Gibb ,Nile Rodgers ,Paul and Lennon put together have written most of the big hits during the 60's and 70's.Hats off to them.

Salute to an iconic genius
DOPE, thanks Niles!!!
LOVE! Dance Dance Dance! I love EVERYTHING by Nile Rodgers!
❤️ him. I vividly remember when we first heard Le Freak. I was about 12 and we had to go buy the record because it was the jam. 😆 It’s a musical soundtrack for some people and their memories.
He’s amazing! I wish he had talked about his work with SRV!!!
I love every song of that list 🥰
All the songs Nile mentioned are anthems. What a talent.
Love this band grown up. Love them more now that I am an amateur musician. The baselines and the funky guitar chords are amazing.
after my visits to his shows in Hamburg, Cobenhavn, Berlin, Cologne and Barcelona i'm looking forward to his mini Germany tour this summer....
This guy is a legend.
The discography is amazing proper disco tunes with a it's own vibe and some brilliant tunes
This is history & Neil Rodgers is a genius! Thanks for all the great music! ❤

Brilliant interview. Fascinating man
This is the best video I’ve seen in quite awhile. 🔥🔥🔥

Thanks for letting us hear seconds of muted clips of each song.
Nile and The Hitmaker 2 personal heroes.
I went to a Chic and Nile Rogers concert a few days ago and I met Nile. He was so chill

Wow, what an amazing video. So much talent, all those songs were so famous. Very cool.

Incredible musician and I think a musical genius 😮
Thanks for the music Sir
This man needs this flowers and do a season of American idol or something
I think he was actually offered this when it first hit the U.S. airwaves.
WOW just WOW!!!
Muy inspirador! Gracias a esta leyenda con tanto talento
Nile is one of the few musicians I'd love to hang out with.
What an amazing story
Thanks for sharing.
I love it when people talk shop
That was one very cool interview it's actually inspiring and indepth much longer interview should be part of the cariculum of Juliard and other music schools across America, since this country has dominated the entirety of music fir at least 70 years if not more. Just my opinion and my own love of music and the continued education that music students require to become brave and courageous while self will and inspiration at its core. Blessings we are family.. get it?
so awesome
wow had no idea about this all. thank you
Iconic, reading his book and loving it!
TIGHTTTTTT. LEGEND
Amazing! 🎶 ❤️
His work with Duran Duran was phenomenal
Hes absolutely amazing and i love him esp for remixing the Reflex and turning a scoop of vanilla into a beautiful 7 layer parfeit.
There is no producer in the world I would rather work with than Nile. This guy knows more about music theory & orchestration than anyone, including Quincy Jones. As Einstein is to mathematics & physics so Nile is to popular music.
I'd say it's a tie lol. Their friends by the way.
Great video. Great dude.
OG....💪🏾💯
Nile is the man.
