Yo guys. Thanks so much for watching the video, means a lot. So uh, this video got hit with 3 different copyright claims from three different companies before it went live (posting wrestling videos is a nightmare), so the chances of me making money on this is.. slim. So if you feel like supporting the channel, you can do so here, helps out a lot, thanks you~ www.patreon.com/Supereyepatchwolf Also, I am aware that a tough time financially for people, so if you cant support (for any reason), thats totally cool, still really appreciate you just checking out the video. If this comment had no context you might assume that it was left on a very different website from KZhead 💀
Kagetsu is/was simply the best. One of my favourite matches was were she felt so invincible that she claimed she would defeat her opponent in under 5 minutes, and proposed a timelimit and in case of a draw she would loose her title. At the beginning of the match she brought a kettle and cup noodles to the ring, and claimed she would be done in time for a nice hot cup of isntant ramen. She wrestled the match very lackadaisical, constantly belittleling her opponent at first, but grew more desperate with time. While she was clearly the superior figther in the match, her oponent would kick out constantly and not giving up. Kagetsu won of course, but it too her 6 minutes 30. She got up took her Cup Noodles, ate them and stated "A bit too cold I guess... Well, you did prove me wrong, I took longer, how long was it? 6 minutes 30?... Well I guess I proposed to lose the title if I took to long... But Rossi [the owner] never gave me a contract for the stipulation, so it was never official, So I guess I keep it, don't I?" and walked away. Kagetsu is great.
@@TainakaRicchan Aw man! That's effing great! It feels so odd to see so much fun stuff in Japanese female wrestling since it's like the most obscure of the obscure, but I really want to check it out now. It just seems so interesting.

I feel like cutting Gorgeous George's advice in half lessens its impact a bit. "A lot of people will pay to see someone shut your mouth. So keep on bragging, keep on sassing and always be outrageous."

When you understand that Gorgeous George made a living out of people paying to see someone stop him from doing his own antics, the other half is pretty dang obvious.

Alucard from Hellsing. He absolutely despised monsters like vampires and ghouls and werewolves, when he himself was the pinnacle of vampirism. He thus hated himself. He saw himself as a weak tusk of a man that couldn't achieve greatness in life without making a pact with the devil. That's also the reason he respects humans like Alexandr Anderson. The man was the only equal of Alucard the king of vampires in a duel, without actually being a vampire and still retaining his humanity, and they both deeply respected each other as men and as opponents. In pro wrestling, booing is just another kind of cheering. Or, as they say, any reaction is better than no reaction.
Kinda like "no publicity is bad publicity " even if it makes it look like your teenage daughter is grinding on your lap based off one still photo image. (the Trump and his daughter one from 96 I think, I'm not going to debate opinions as I don't care, just what I thought of)
Well that depends on the booing honestly. Roman Reigns was booed for a while for the wrong reasons but yes I agree that any reaction is better than no reaction. Although in Japanese wrestling the crowds react differently, they are silent for a while to respect the wrestlers and the people watching then cheer at certain times. Any wrestler who knows how to work with a crowd knows what they're doing.
thats so stupid wwe thinking
@@juliand.breakdown463 UK and continental Europe seem to play by those rules, too, as does indy circuit in general - the Kaiju Big Battel circuit for sure, and here in Ottawa 4C wrestling the most noise is always the biggest boos for the "meanest" villains. "What" and "boring" chants are some of the most toxic chants and do not benefit anybody. Booing a heel is fine and even encouraged to an extent, because they're supposed to be hated.
New Jack was an actual monster. There's playing a villain, and then there's being a racist, violent, potential murderer.

Being a heel is liberating. When you're trying to get people to like you, there's rules you have to follow, there's certain things you can't say or do. When you're making people hate you, that all goes away, you don't have to worry about rules or conventions on how to behave. For me, that's the true brilliance of being a heel.
The most exposure to wrestling I’ve ever gotten before this was when they did a wrestling-themed episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race and I thought the names “faces” and “heels” were something they made up for the show.
Someone should add Japanese subtitles to this and share it with Kagetsu to let her know she's acknowledged and appreciated outside of Japan as well.

Basically, people saying wrestling is fake are missing out on a great show.
Basically, yeah. Pro wrestling is, at its core, performance art, and it's evolved in a way since the days of the Attitude Era (with its shock jock humor and juvenile writing) into great theater with complex, three-dimensional characters that don't have to be all shouty and angry all the time, now able to convey a variety of emotions. Basically, modern pro wrestling has openly embraced the performance art aspect of it and, in the case of wrestling around the world, can be viewed as a great window of getting a vibe for different cultures around the world: look at how different the wrestling is in Mexico or Australia compared to a place like Japan or the Congo; the internet has kinda allowed pro wrestling to become this really beautiful thing that can, if given a chance, bring people together in a shared sense of understanding.
I never understand it. If you can accept the storyline of a movie; you should be able to accept the entertainment of professional wrestling.
Yeah that's another thing. I never got interested into wrestling but I was always told it sucks bc it's fake. But like... movies and tv shows are fake?? And like, does it matter if it's fake? Do people actually expect wrestlers to fight like gladiators and illegal underground fight clubs?? Idk that's just weird. Super eyepatch make me realize it's a whole world of entertainement, story lines and character arcs and it seems so interesting.
It is fake, but it's fun so who cares.
Or, you know, a mediocre show. You saw that hall of terrible heels.

surprising that I finally watched this (phenomenal) video today of all days, since it's actually the 11th anniversary of the death of Mike Shaw, the wrestler who played Bastion Booger. my mom works at a paper company in Michigan, and actually had a friendly professional relationship with Shaw, who moved over to corporate work in his post-wrestling life. even with that second life, though, he opened and ran a wrestling school in his hometown of Skandia, Michigan, a tiny town with less than a thousand people. I didn't even know until today, looking at his Wikipedia page, that he made a cameo in WWE Raw's 15th anniversary special, had a Jakks Pacific toy made of him, and even oversaw independent circuit wrestlers and had a couple independent fights in his final years. I was with my mom when she learned of his death, and I still remember her shock and total surprise at the news. even though I never had the chance to meet him, hearing from her the secondhand grief and love from those who knew and worked with him painted a picture of a kind, funny, hardworking man who had only love for his family, friends, and coworkers. seeing the clips used here, where he was able to so effectively, confidently make himself into a "disgusting" man for his matches, is funny and moving at the same time; for such a bizarre footnote in wrestling history, earning a section in a list of the "worst" heels from someone who clearly knows their wrestling history still feels like an appropriate cementation of his legacy and impact in its own way. in such a wild, bizarre industry filled with oddballs who don't even earn mentions for their fights a year later, let alone almost 30, this feels like an inclusion he would be honored by. sending this video to my mom this evening, think/hope she'll find it entertaining. keep up the excellent work

Western wrestling fan here. I'm really upset that this is the first time I've heard of Kagetsu. Legit furious

The joy and horror of joshi wrestling fan. They are the best. They will sacrifice a body in the ring to give us the best possible entertainment. And they will retire quicker than their male counterparts, because they are broken down quicker, for less money. They burn brighter, quicker. You have to be lucky to catch them in their prime. Luckily the accessiblity of the video is much better. Do the deep dive as soon as you can. Find your favorites.
Funny how I never watched any wrestling, but I am a massive Yakuza fan and so seeing Naito and Ogata was interestingly familiar. For those who don't know, Naito, Ogata and many other Japanese pro wrestlers make cameo appearances in Yakuza 6 as a gang of vigilantes called JUSTIS and they serve as antagonists you eventually turn to your side as Kiryu, the protagonist, takes JUSTIS down one member at a time in massive gang fights. They even use their catchphrases and signature moves.
I fucking knew I recognised them from somewhere
As in 'Tranquilo' Naito?
@@ChristopherJames1993 Yep. His special ability is even called "Tranquilo".
@@ChristopherJames1993tranquillo is his finishing move seen here 28:12 he basically catches u by the neck from behind, spins around and spikes the back of the head to the mat... one of the cooler finishers out there

I have never cared nor watch wrestling, but these videos of yours have actually made me respect it, and your one with the Golden Lovers in particular made me genuinely care.

Gourgeous George never met Ali. Freddy Blaise did and Ali thought he was George
I remember seeing this interview with Classy Freddie Blassie years ago about how, when he used to wrestle as a heel, fans who would boo him mercilessly and one even set fire to his car. His response to that: "They couldn't help it. They loved me." Legend!
So sad seeing the thumbnail now. RIP Bray Wyatt aka Windham Rotunda.

Mjf is next level man, when I saw him in the second episode of aew I knew they had something special. After I found out he'd been doing it for years, and the creepy documentary, this is an amazing story he's been telling for years
Can't believe you missed the Iron Sheik! He is such a great entry point into what an incredible heel is, using political tension to throw crowds into fits of rage

I've always loved heels myself. Not the same way that too many of the smarks who take everything too seriously do, but in the way that I boo the bad guys as a sign of respect. I'm mostly a WWE guy, but every time I see someone recapping the stories from Japan, I always wish the langauge barrier and time difference didn't hurt so much (I'm east coast US). Those stories seem so raw and powerful, but they're also so much more subtle than American pro wrestling stories. Maybe I'm just missing it since I can't read that deep into it due to the aforementioned langauge issues. At any rate, thank you for so much depth and passion in this video and videos like it. It's refreshing to find wrestling videos where someone isn't just either blindly loving a company or blindly hating a company. There's art to this and it gets lost in the shuffle of the social media these days.
Oh man, seeing that Suzuki dude toss the chair aside put me in my feelings. Was 12 years old in 1999, so naturally I was doing crotch chops and wearing scsa shirts with the boys
Seeing Hana Kimura made me tear up still hurts ;_;
That is a really sad story. :(
Oh wow I looked that up... A fucking shame.
I still feel sadness for her family and anger toward the stupidity of those who caused it
Plot twist: MJF isn't playing a character.
I'm starting to believe that lmao
MJF's character lines up so specifically with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) that I'm convinced he's intentionally acting that way. Like, he did the research into psychology diagnostics and molded this into his character. However, the biggest thing that sets him apart is that he's going above and beyond keeping himself in character seemingly at all times. NPD Signs directly taken from the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual * Grandiose sense of self-importance * Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love * Belief that one is special and can only be understood by or associate with special people or institutions * A need for excessive admiration * A sense of entitlement (to special treatment) * Exploitation of others * A lack of empathy * Envy of others or the belief that one is the object of envy * Arrogant, haughty behavior or attitudes
MJF used to be in a relationship with Allie Kat, and when he broke up with her, after she moved across the country, he left her homeless. This isn't a work. He's an IRL piece of shit.
@Cooldrew100 I’m by no means immersed in the world of wrestling gossip but a cursory Google of that story brought up a Twitter screencap where both of them say what amounts to “that’s not true lol” old.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/ecc06w/a_fun_twitter_exchange_between_allie_kat_and_mjf/
I just wanted to say thank you for making these wrestling videos, they've all been amazing, and they introduced the greatness that is Minoru Suzuki and Kagetsu to me, I've become such a massive fan of Suzuki's through this intro, and because of that I'm finally getting to meet him next month at a show. The series is great on its own, your research and the way you present it all is amazing, the music editing choices fit perfectly and bring chills at moments, and I love as a wrestling fan how you present these to non wrestling fans, because these are all proper docs that anyone can watch and learn from, even a longtime fan like me. These videos are amazing on their own, and deserve commendation for that, but I have to give extra thanks, because again, without you and these videos I wouldn't be meeting Minoru Suzuki, so thank you very much Super Eyepatch Wolf.
Kagetsu looks in all those matches like she is having the time of her life. I had no idea that wrestling brand existed but it looks amazing even without giant halls and pyrotechnics.

Joshi wrestling has two gears: Comedy and M U R D E R.
I'll never forget the horror I felt when I saw Suzuki injure Tanahashi, and how disgusted I felt when he gloated about it.
Got no interest in wrestling at all but listening to a guy talk about something he is absolutely passionate about is always fascinating.
@Jericholic2323 Huh? Wolf has made 3 videos talking about good wrestling can be but yeah, "...He doesnt really seem passionate." You do know that theres more to being passionate than just someones voice right?
"People were afraid of New Jack" -- "were"?? Dude is going to come after you for implying aren't still afraid of him.
New Jack retired in 2013, but I'm still terrified of him. No really.
Even though he's in America, I feel like he'd cross the globe if I said some shit about him under my breatg
I remember when he said he would kill Logan paul in a wrestling match
He's actually pretty chill when he's not in-character. Very calm and good sense of humor. I don't think he hates white people either. He just understands how to use race to get heat. I don't agree with a lot of shit Jack has done, but at the end of the day he's just another guy trying to make a paycheck.
@@jakefoley9539 He... stabbed someone. That sounds acutely un-chill, if you ask me.
Came back to this beautiful video after hearing the news. RIP Bray, I'm so sorry that you couldn't stick around to tell the rest of your stories.
Only in the world of Pro-Wrestling could someone calling themselves "Evil" ever be considered a rebellious good guy. I love this stupid awesome pastime.
Well he's not a good guy anymore
@@ChuckyBeingChucky I mean, fair. But the fact that he was at all is super amusing and interesting to me.
He would come in a robe carrying a giant scythe, he was very over the top with the edginess that it almost circled back to being endearing? Now he's actually living out his name.
@@soliduswasright678 I mean, EVIL was basically a huge chuuni dude, it's so cheesy that it made him likeable.
... wait, Kagetsu? Someone is finally talking about Kagetsu? You've made me so unbelievably happy. Her run towards the end of her career encapsulated everything I love about wrestling. I think about them, her feuds, her relationships often- and no one else ever knows who I'm talking about. While those brief frames of Kagetsu, Kris, and Hana bring up... a lot of complex feelings, it also summarizes one of the strongest periods in wrestling for me and I'm glad it's being remembered.
Oedo Tai for life
All of Oedo Tai really deserve more international recognition. They're hands down my all time favorite wrestling faction. Of course, just sucks that they're basically gone now, with Kagetsu and Kris being retired and that awful tragedy with Hana.

I haven't watched wrestling for several years now and watching these series of videos have helped recapture what I loved about wrestling. It is freaking awesome the story they spin. That segment with Kegestu was really heartwarming to me. The way she played the villain in the ring so that she would be able to push the her rivals and opponents to greater is truly admirable. I am a bit sad she retired but I hope she is doing well in what ever she is doing right now.
Hot damn. The moment Suzuki goes from holding the steel chair over Liger to a full-floor-contact bow (not a normal bow, mind you. True prostration) is amazing. Talk about a moment that both impresses you deeply but messes with your head because it so strongly clashes with the created/altered/heightened reality surrounding this industry. Wow. Really powerful stuff.
That Kegetsu girl is an anime villain, even down to her line.
"Too much freedom is a bad thing." Was the heel tagline of Sargent slaughter
@JoJo is not an anime in a vacuum, yes. With context it sure was
@JoJo is not an anime you didn't read what I said did you.
@JoJo is not an anime people have different ideologies about freedom, you just happen to like authority more, and Sgt slaughter's tagline is definitely coming from an authoritarian heel
"Too much pink energy is bad." - Zordon
Thank god this video got back up. This is by far your best wrestling video and my favorite explanation as to why I like heels more than any other wrestler.
I think any fans favorite heel turn is the first they were around and surprised at for me that was the Shield implosion, despite WWE being pretty weak compared to the competition that moment still sticks out to me cause of the aftermath and careers of its members that showcased every good and bad side of the industry from Seths failure as a face without them, Romans failed attempts at becoming a face till very real real life relatable circumstances flipped that, and Dean having the company itself fail him that single heel turn opened my eyes to how much power the crowd has and how much talent just gets left in the dust at WWE
Naito: "You're Evil!" Evil: "Always have been."
