The Israeli embassy in Singapore has "harshly punished" a staff member for putting up an unauthorised social media post that Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam labelled as "completely unacceptable". The post had compared the mentions of Israel and Palestine in a religious text. The Singapore Government told the embassy to take it down, saying it undermines safety, security and harmony here, and it was removed immediately. Rebecca Metteo tells us more.
they should have been expelled / deported from singapore for national security concerns.

Shanmugam is right to be worried. Already neighbors like Malaysia not too happy with Singapore's diplomatic ties with Israel. If the Israeli embassy based in Singapore starts making comments about the Quran and Palestine I won't be surprised if the security of Singapore is at risk. It's like your house guest shouting abuse and mocking at passerbys or your neighbors and riling them up. If they start retaliating and throwing stones, your house and own family will be the ones getting the brunt of the violence. Let's not forget Singapore's own malay muslims community. You expect our own citizens to suck it up because you want to pander to outsiders ventilating their own geopolitical propaganda on an issue that doesn't even involve our country
Apparently the house guest is antagonizing the house owners too. There are Muslims in Singapore too. We do not appreciate others twisting verses from our Holy Scripture out of context to suit their own agenda.

Why sanction for pointing out the truth? Muslims wrote the Koran, no one else!!
Just saying, the actual post doesn't even make sense. Talking about how Palestine is not mentioned in the Quran ignores the fact that 'Palestine' is a foreign name imposed upon the region by Romans, Greeks, and thus the Western world. Obviously the name would not be mentioned at all. It refers to the 'children of Israel', meaning the Jewish people as such, but interpreting that as anything beyond acknowledging their status in Islamic lore is... Beyond wrong. I'm not a Muslim, but a Buddhist who was curious enough to read the Quran. We should maintain our religious harmony, as well as exercise our critical thinking.
Palestinian refers to a people called the Judeans and the Israelites (not current Jews) lived in harmony. Askenazi Jews (fake Jews) killed their own people in WW2 to earn themselves a homeland under the UN Balfour Declaration when Israel was established in 1949.
"Bani Israel" does not refer to all Jews, only one of the many tribes of Jews at that time (children of Jacob) and definitely not the Ashkenazis who have nothing to do with the Middle East.
The term "Israel" mentioned in Quran is referred to those children of Jacob. Not the current "european WHITE jewz"! And certainly not to those 10000 illegal american jewz in west bank!!
@AnasSuhaimi that's also besides the point. Even if what you say is not true, clearly anyone of any seriousness knows that when it says Israel in any ancient religious text Quran, Bible, Torah etc. they are not talking about a COUNTRY FOUNDED IN 1947 CENTURY BY THE UN. it's like meeting someone named Alexander and thinking he must be the one that conquered Persia. The embassy put out a 50 IQ level social media post.
It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that it could. Palestine was given by the Romans in about 150+- AD. The Koran wasn’t written till hundreds of years later, more than enough time for it to become used in common parlance and known in this area. What it means I think is that this area wasn’t considered important to Muslims at the time. There were other locations more important to Muslims and this area was left to ruin.
Facebook should have taken it down and banned the account
" Harshly Punished " ? SO what Happened to the Staff ? NOTHING ? SO ALL HOT AIR ?

Despite archaeology and entymology which also prove our existence before them.
@@imisstoronto3121How about reading and believing the whole Quran? About verse where Jews were escaping from Egypt. Or the verse where Jews should belive in Moses pbuh, and then Jesus pbuh and finally Muhammad pbuh. Or you pick and choose what suits you from the Quran? To be technically correct, both Jews and Arabs were immigrant to Palestine. The real native there are the Canaanites or the modern day Lebanese. Lebanese are not Arabs. They are culturally Arab but ethnically Canaanite.
@@imisstoronto3121nobody ever disputes that jewish people exist or existed in middle east. Moses took you on a middle eastern desert walkabout for 40 years to guide your people. That story alone indicates your existence there. What people do dispute is the treatment of the palestinian peoples of all faiths since 1948. What the western powers did to turn them into refugees and prisoners by backing zio nist agenda to grab as much land as possible. And what the zionists continue to do since 1948 as well by taking homes and farms from native families living there since before roman and british colonisation. Similar to what happened to many colonised nations such as the american indians, the natives of canada, the south african blacks, the natives of lands colonised by force of arms. That is wrong. Gaza is a massive prison. Is that ethically acceptable? Like the anerican indians first massacred then kept in reservations in the past? Morally abhorrent. The solution is to give the palestinians independence and a viable economy and peace (which the madman netanyahu rejects same as hamas). And access to jerusalem as well as it is their right too. Why should 1000 of their babies die to avenge 1 zio nist life? Is that ehtically and morally acceptable? Thousands are held and tortured in zio nist prisons including children. No access to medical care or legal help. Acceptable? Jews and other ethnic groups have lived on those lands for thousands of years no matter what racist muslim and christian haters love to say. Why were churches bombed as well in isra heli attacks? Not mistakes but targeted. Did they offend jews too? Children died in churches too. A settlement must be reached with Iran diplomatically so hamas and hezbollah can be defused. If western countries would stop playing big boss and playground bullies and selling arms to various factions in middle east, and understand the anger and dispossession the muslim and christian palestinians feel, then there is hope for peace. And china and russia invited to the table to discuss solutions, who knows what can be achieved. If not, there is only a lot of pain ahead for millions of people including the is ra hel people. Its sad that children must die for the hatred caused by racism and past genocides in europe of jews (nazis were not the first among the europeans to murder jews) and new genocides in palestine of christians and muslims. Everyone suffers in one way or another. And forget the united nations to help any colonised nation or country. veto power given to a handful of countries means there is no democratic process or equitable decision making. Poor nations have no say there. Its a corrupt organisation as it is structured now. Only benefits the powerful as the latest veto by US against the palestinians shows. As an asian i would support asia having its own organisation without veto rights for any country. White politics has too much colonialist history influencing its decision making. That is not beneficial to Asia.
@@imisstoronto3121 just a thought... archeology proves that judaen peoples lived in egypt and arabian peninsula long ago. Then many migrated to europe. But note that many jews also converted to christianity and islam. And they lived together in judea and what the western powers named as palestine for thousands of years. Thus, to now claim that christians and muslims are immigrants to palestine is incorrect. They are actually the same dna source. Yes intermarriage has diluted the genes justvlike the jews of europe, but in essence you are all from the same ancestors and therefore have the same claims. European jews who left thousands of years ago cannot have more rights than the native peoples of the land living there since ancient times. If that were the case, all white americans can claim lands in europe. Can you do that? Try and see if the current europeans would give you all land and arms including atom bombs to occupt their homes. Try it. Even the chinese and indian diaspora can no longer claim lands in india or china based simply on their genetic origins. And their genes are distinct.

@@s_shaleh Quran's mention of Israel evidences the presence of Jews in the land. It does not evident the existence of a Palestinian race at that time period. A simple historical fact which Muslims can't seem to accept, because to do so would undermine the Palestinians' claim to the land of Israel. Salaam
What was that post about?
They explained in the Description field of a different video. The comment said Israel was mentioned… I think… 43 times in the Quran, and Palestine wasn’t mentioned at all. The implication was that Jews are indigenous to the Israel/Palestine area, which some Muslims dispute. (They then say Jews have no right to be in Israel because they aren’t indigenous.) Some Muslim commenters in that other video said that they view those mentions of Israel in the Quran to be referring to the people (ie Jewish people) existing in biblical times, but they don’t believe Israel existed as a country. Anyway, the point is there is disagreement about what it means, and some people believe this has bearing on the current conflict in Israel/Palestine. The government of Singapore doesn’t want their own Muslim and Jewish populations drawn into fighting about the Middle East, which could spark violence within Singapore.

Meanwhile Israel bans DNA test kits in their country because they are ashamed to reveal their European ancestry. The Qur'an also said that the biblical Israelites broke their covenant with God and were cursed to never reclaim their home. In fact it was Muslims who welcomed them back to Jerusalem in the 7th century. European christians had placed a ban on Jews from entering Jerusalem. And this is not only known to Muslims but also to many orthodox Jews who studied the Torah. So you can crawl back into your cave now.
@@rozanahrahman7704 Now more people know that Palestine was not mentioned even once in the Quran.
@@johnny-ih5es Israel mentioned in the Quran ls not a place. It is mentioned as Bani Israel (the tribe of Jacob). I invite you to read the Quran to know what has been said about them.
@@abdmalekahmad4193 What is there to read? Palestine is not mentioned even once in the Quran.
Come on! More lies… staff is not punished. And seriously it was unauthorised? Who are you lying to… lol
Blame the staff..classic BS
What was said in that post exactly? The news does not say what was said.

Credit must be given to the minister for encouraging truth telling. It's delightful to know that “Israel is mentioned 43 times in a Quran” .
*Israel as the name of a person and not as a state with laws and an army. We appreciate your interest to read the Quran.
@@hafizumar107 What did the Quran said about the Promised Land?
You should read the Qur'an in its entirety to fully understand God's position on the Children of Israel. But nice try using selective hearing to misrepresent the Qur'an and the minister's words. I've seen your other comments on other videos. You can switch to your real name now. We know you're a Zionist masquerading behind a Chinese name.
@@wangchung7599 The Quran said that the covenant is conditional.
@@hafizumar107 So, it's divine intervention. The descendants of the Israelites are able to return to the Promised Land today.
What mr shanmugam stressed out was about the safety of the jews, the government afraid that perhaps somebody of a certain MINORITY group who might have an "extremist" or "terrorist" mindset to act against the jews. well the gomen doesn't really care about the muslim minority group pun... beginilah hidup sebagai orang dagang di tanah air sendiri...
They should know between terrorist act and responsive act...anything is not right should be highlighted and respons without making physical contacts
Thought i was the only who noticed that... concern for safety of the Jew

*_WISDOM???_* Are there other who like me are immune to those who could subjectively be deemed as giving offense. I do not understand why people allow others words to control & manipulate them into relinquish their joy & happiness in life, of course with the caveat under law of speech that incites, threatens violence & defamation. We should recognize that people who attempt giving offense are not contributing anything of value and it should be actively discouraged or at the very least with herd immunity borne of love, compassion & kindness be ignored. The real value of any communication is in offering feasible solutions to problems, solutions steeped in the most reliable objective methodology we humans have at our disposal, science.

All is not well
let me guess, he pointed out that Israel is mention 47 times in Koran, and Palestine? guess how many? zero.
Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are not hallmarks of Singapore. Singapore has been ranked as a flawed democracy lacking in political process, civil liberties, and human rights.
Thanks for your praise. we are a authoritarian country done right. Thanks for the jealousy. The numerous new high networth immigrants. i want to thank you for making singapore the talk of town. Where you can walk at 2am and not get kidnapped stabbed and robbed. Where no bullets fly and kill your love ones. Where its safe for female tourists to wonder around at night. Where we have the worlds best airport, healthcare, education, public transport and infrastructure. Our standard of living is better than New york and LA. Im so glad that We live in a safe bubble where we can afford to travel 4 times a year. Where is democracy in all of this? Am i missing something important? i have everything i need.
lols you half educated twit, embassies do not have freedom of speech under domestic law in any country
Thank you. We are glad we are not the same perfect democracy as the US. Stop the steal. Ask Julian Assange and Snowden about their civil liberties and human rights. Ask the African Americans about the political process.
@johnpatrick1588 actually singapore is a full-blown democracy, like in Socrates' time, not a republic where basic/natural rights are protected from tyranny of the majority.
What I'd define as "harsh" - being sent back in time to live in 1940s German-controlled territories in Europe, where the staff's predecessors most likely migrated from. More than half of Israel's current population are of European heritage, in fact. And I think they'd be hard-pressed to find their true biblical Jewish heritage, let alone deserve to have a place in their ill-gotten "promised land".
Singapore is right to nip this in the bud immediately. It was very disrespectful of the embassy to allow such posts to be made putting peace at risk in host nation.
For our ministers, a mere letter from the Mufti to the Rabbi is enough to keep the peace (while insane millions are sent for aid to Gaza, how much goes to Israel?), but a solid piece of truth [not unacknowledged by some Arab scholars, even leaders (Abraham Accords) & possibly Mossab Yousef Hassan) - that could actually set the matter straight - is somehow insensitive & deserving of harsh punishment. Perhaps we're the ones being insensitive - ungrateful & unsympathetic - to the Israelis, who are fighting not only an existential war on multiple fronts, but also a media one against unjust worldwide criticism not founded on facts & truth. If we truly are a society based on justice & equality, why castigate the Israelis for speaking the truth in defence of themselves? It seems to me justice & national interests are mutually exclusive & not, as our ministers would have us believe, compatible at all. As a Singaporean, I'm rather ashamed, especially, of our FM's recent statement claiming, "Israel's military action has gone too far". Should we really be putting the blame on Israel, or are Hamas & the other terrorist groups the ones truly deserving of our ire & condemnation?
In Islam, religion and politics work hand in hand. Thats fact.
in hindu ram alway at discrimination, upper caste system, lies, propaganda and extremist in fact. Hinduism grows by discriminate others and other religions.
Israel is Jeeish state..india is now under a Hindu fundamentalist party...and US evangelical senators also mix politixs and religion...thats fact..like youre an islamophobe
But others cannot talk about it😃
Why you care if its not your country? In western countries like US and UK christian ideology permeates all aspects of politics especially when making policies about middle east. Because they waiting for Jesus to return and end of times. Look at the american dollar bill. Signs of religious ideology printed there. And all the presidents are staunch christians. And they have now overturned roe vs wade. So whats your point exactly?
The staff was "harshly punished"? 😂😂😂 Don't insult our intelligence!
they will post him to northern gaza i suppose
