Hey mate! Fellow Aussie who just got back into Pokemon TCG collecting (and playing!) with 151 (the nostalgia was too, can you blame me). I'm a big fan with what they've done with Scarlet & Violet English series sets (no more yellow borders, adjusted hit rates, illustration rares in general) and as we're ripping 151 packs I'm already planning what's next. Obsidian Flames has caught my eye (probably helped by playing Charizard ex in PTCGL atm..). Love your videos, especially the master set guides. I wanted to share a tip since you like collecting all the numbered variants (me too.. the stamped starters for 151 are going to be a nightmare to import.. but I disgress): the EB Games stamped Umbreon (130/197) from Obsidian Flames is now finally available! I just picked one up at EB Games in Westfield Sydney CBD (under Myer foodcourt). $20 minimum spend on Pokemon TCG products to get it and they had a big box still, and I'd assume other stores have it too. Hopefully you can pick one up!
Heya! First off welcome! I managed to get myself an Umbreon yesterday along with a set of their 151 posters =D As for the GameStop Umbreon and Best Buy Espeon my friend in the US already has a pair for me =D

Hey dude, I very recently got into collecting Pokemon cards and therefore started with Obsidian Flames so forgive me for sounding stupid, but I'm putting my binder together right now with the help of this video and I'm currently at #62 Palafin and aren't there 4 versions of him? there's a none-holo version of him that comes with the promo card version of him and then there's the holo and reverse hole in the main set, no?
First off don't be afraid or think a question is stupid - This whole hobby can be overwhelming. I've only started in October so I'm learning with you. So with master sets I only include the variants that are in set numbered (Set icon + number). I keep black star promos in a separate master set binder (that I will cover in another video soon). The above statement can be slightly modified if the card is an absolute direct reprint. For example the only ones I can use as an example are the 6 cards from the 2023 McDonald's set that have their own numbering code BUT are a direct reprint with a confetti holo effect on them for the base Scarlet Violet set. Quaxly, Fuecoco, Sprigatito, Klawf, Cetitan and Pikachu where the foil variants in this McDonald's promo run. Hopefully this answers your question well enough but I'll be making a video on the promo book soon once a few cards come in so it's a bit more to look at because lo and behold there are variants in that binder also...
Really sorry about the late response mate, been super busy with work. Your reply did help and I now understand why certain cards are/aren't in the master set and why you've opted to put the promo cards in a completely separate binder and I think I'll be doing the same now too. I'm very surprised to find out you only started collecting in October. You seem to have/know so much already. I literally hadn't even given Pokemon a thought until less than 2 weeks ago (having stopped collecting/playing when I was younger - 10/15 years ago) and now I find myself completely addicted. How's that happened lol? I've got all the good UK Pokemon sites bookmarked, I've almost completed my master set for Obsidian Flames and now I've just ordered a bunch of stuff for Paldea Evolved and Scarlet & Violet, hoping to have all three done and be caught up by Paradox Rift. Going to be doing some 151 stuff too obviously but nothing crazy until I get the 3 previous sets all done. I'll be a frequent viewer. Keep up the good work bud.
@@PokeF9 nah you're all good man, busy lifestyle I get that :) I just went down a rabbit hole and soaked up information but trust me there's still so much to learn outside of what I know so far that I don't think I'll truly catch up / be at the same level of the other poketubers but at least you will get genuine vibes here xD

You bet I will :) If he returns that would be awesome but I'll still keep going on with everything else as I guess the difference betwen our master sets is that I'm including everything! I have other stuff planned as well but mostly this will be a channel I can chill with friends and family whilst still giving out realistic advice and tips without throwing the whole money / value stuff in your face.

Ah those are the trainer tip cards you find in the build and battle deck boxes.
Hey, I really enjoy the aesthetic of your master sets! Just wondering if you double sleeve your cards or are they just in the dragon shield outer layers?
Just dragon shield outer layers - In time I may go back through and double sleeve the hits after the base set when it's time to reset the entire binder thanks to all the variants that will come out with each set.

Do you know how many card there are in total including reverse holos
If you're laying it out like I am (non holos, holos & reverse holos) 32 x End set art 21 x Base set EX 352 x Base set non holos, holos & reverse holos) Should be 405. This isn't including current and future known variants - Non holo Palafin - Non holo Toxtricity - Non holo Togekiss - Foil variant Charmander - Foil variant Chameleon - Gamestop stamped Espeon / Umbreon - Best Buy stamped Espeon / Umbreon

What is the total of number of card you need to complete the OF naster set
I'd have to do a bit of calculating but it feels like it's hard to give a definite number. Are you collecting all the variants or just what you can pull from the booster boxes?

Yeah should be fairly easy if you just base it off what you can pull in the packs themselves. The variants you get from promotional events / stamped stuff isn't really needed - It's more of an extra thing.

I think as another suggestion the x-vault ones look pretty amazing. They even have the set stamp on the spine of the binder (SV1, SV2, SV3 etc)

Nope but I'm carrying on his work. He was a massive help in the past and taught me a lot by watching his stuff. Makes me sad he stopped.
