About Vat19:
Vat19 is dedicated to "curiously awesome" gifts, candy, toys, gummy, putty, puzzles, games, and more! In addition to making funny commercials you'll actually want to watch, we produce amazing challenge videos, document our outrageous contraptions, and invite you to a front row seat for our silly stunts. Sometimes we blow things up, fill up a bathtub or pool with crazy stuff, dare each other to eat super spicy foods, and answer “burning questions” from our viewers.

  • That first product is something that we often suggest for people with narcolepsy. It can really help some people, and when you are driving you often fall asleep forward.

    @witchy90210@witchy902102 ай бұрын
    • To be honest, a product like this marketed to drivers is going to encourage people to drive when they are too tired to do so, thinking it makes them safe, when in reality you can crash in a micro-sleep without your head moving at all. By the time your head has dropped enough to set off something like this it would be way too late to wake you up without you having already caused the danger already. If someone is tired enough to think they need something to wake them up, they need to take a break in their driving. Driving tired is as dangerous as driving drunk and we wouldn't sell little gadgets to help people still manage to drive home when way over the limit drunk because we all recognise how unsafe it is!

      @gabeangel8104@gabeangel81042 ай бұрын
    • @@gabeangel8104 I am very well of this as I drove tired ONCE and after that I never did it again. 3 am, highway is effectively just trucks at that time. I learned quickly. However, I dont really think it encourages people to drive tired. Cuz think about it, people who drive tired often have not as many options to not do so. Particularly truck drivers when they might not be allowed to do so. And like I mentioned some people with disabilities still have to drive and they might experience extrme drowsiness and an alert to wake them up so they are aware of it and can then safely pull off to rest is far safer than the alternative. Most people with narcolepsy dont just fall unconcious, those people simply cant drive at that point, among other things.

      @witchy90210@witchy902102 ай бұрын
    • @@witchy90210 I'm sorry but anyone in need of a device to monitor their head dropping and scream in their ear to bring them back to alertness is not safe behind a wheel. The amount of time it takes to trigger the device and respond to the sound is plenty of time for an accident to have already happened, especially at any significant speed, even on an empty road. Let alone the fact that the startle reflex caused by being woken from a state of half sleep by a screaming noise in your ear is likely to make you jerk the wheel violently, which could cause the vehicle to go into a skid. And, yes, I'm sorry but it's not possible to market a product as being something that will keep you awake driving and then think it won't encourage people to assume it will make them perfectly safe to drive tired, and therefore they will be more likely to choose to keep driving instead of resting. I know there are situations, like people who drive long distance for work, who often don't have the option to rest, and they generally already have their tricks to try to help. If you want to help them then try to get laws changed. As far as people with narcolepsy, legally, they are only allowed to drive if their episodes of sleepiness are under control. If they need this product then they are breaking the law by driving and could loose their license. It's the same as being epileptic where you have to have been free of seizures for a certain amount of time before you can drive again. I was going to give you the benifit of the doubt thinking you ment that people with narcolepsy could use it in general, not in a car, but if you're trying to say it can help them drive, absolutely not,that would not be legal and could get their licence revoked on medical grounds.

    • @@gabeangel8104bro that's like saying seat belts make people drive more dangerously because they know they're more likely to not suffer serious injuries in a crash

      @XxZeldaxXXxLinkxX@XxZeldaxXXxLinkxX2 ай бұрын
    • @@XxZeldaxXXxLinkxX put this through the testing that seat belts have been put through. Seat belts have been proved to actually save lives. In actual very rigorous regulated testing. There is extensive proof that driving with them is safer than without. When you have the same tests and proof for this I will be satisfied with it being sold. Right now though, it's, at best, a gimic being marketed as if it is a proper safety product. It has no proper safety standard testing and watching people in this video and others, test it, you can see that it would not pass testing to be classified as a proper piece of safety equipment in the way that seat belts have

So yeah like....they'd literally rather waste money to try and force production than just let people be as long as their work is completed in a timely manner :/

  • I can't say without knowing more about the product but I suspect the thermometer is for people who need to keep track of how their temperature varies from one measurement to the next. It could be handy with illnesses that last longer and need monitoring, but more likely for situations like people keeping track of their temperatures to know things like ovulation cycles (for example if a couple is having difficulty getting pregnant they often do this, or with IVF, or some people just like to be aware of their own body), and also people with long term illness or health conditions where temperature fluctuations can be important information to help keep track of the person's health. The app that reads the temperature probably also has options to keep records of readings, which would be easier than having to note it down somewhere else every time if it was something you had to do regularly. This is where products can easily get mis-represented when the people reviewing them don't read the full information or do enough research, but just want a fast and funny 'oh look, an over-engineered product we can laugh at!'

Interoception (feeling thirsty hungry ect) can be difficult for those of us with autism AND with adhd (which is super comorbid with each other) when we do finally feel the need to drink or pee can get distracted until it's to the point were its a "holy heck I'm so hungry it physically hurts" or "if I don't make it on a toilet in 10 seconds I'm leaking" or " wow I'm super dizzy and my head hurts and I'm cramping alot.... oh heck have I had any water today? I'm dehydrated ". Having something that reminded me to drink water and also track how much you've had would be perfect and a life changer, especially sense not drinking enough water on a regular basis can cause health complications long term! • I can kinda see the point of the water bottle with reminders as someone with autism and adhd. I often go into a hyperfocus and forget to eat, sleep, drink, use the bathroom; all kinds of pretty essential stuff. So having a reminder could be useful. But $70 and the water level calibration and intake measuring stuff is just way too much. I’d honestly rather just program an hourly ‘drink water’ alarm into my phone. There’s something resembling a disability friendly good idea in there, but it totally fails in execution.

Their Teams is set to show "away" status after just 5 minutes and it's locked setting. When I am coding I may just legitimately stare at the screen for 5 minutes trying to figure out the code segment in my head before typing it out. Sometimes their Teams setup also just craps out and doesn't go back to green automatically after having been in the away status. Jiggler has saved my life since now I can be green all the time.

  • So the anti drowsy device... I'll agree it should NOT be used while driving. That thing is not going to stop you from crashing or driving off the road and should not be marketed that way. But there other uses I might have for that thing. If it even really works at all. I have insonia, I don't always get the best sleep at night and have a tendency to fall asleep durring the day even when I have slept so this could potentially, if it actually worked, help regulate my sleep habits. Can you just send me that thing to test? Oh and the water bottle is absolutly the worst. There's an actual doctor who made a video saying if you just drink when you feel thirsty then you should already be getting plenty of water. The whole thing about you should be drinking 8 glasses of water a day is meant to be an AVERAGE not an exact amount you have to stick to. And because people don't understand how averages work she's actually seen people come into her office OVER hydrated because they drank too much water. Also because cups come in different sizes no one is really sure how much 8 glasses actually is people were drinking 8 of the largest cup sizes they could find every day and actually getting too much water. Not enough water and too much water can both kill you. Just drink when you're thirsty, your body already has a natutal way to regulate how much you drink, you don't need to follow any dietary advice from an app. Also fun fact, water does not just mean literal water. All liquids that we drink do contain some amount of water in them. I've had people question how I'm even still alive because they don't realize that and are convinced drinking anything other than pure water will dehydrate you. No it doesn't that's how I haven't dehydrated yet despite the fact I never drink water, cause I am still drinking. The only way drinking something is going to dehydrate you is if it's something humans shouldn't be consuming.

  • honestly the trash caN WOULD BE good for biowaste like diapers and pads ect. if the can was bigger and the bags were thicker it would be great especally if there was something to neutralise the oders in the can like carchoal. the wave to open thing is un nessesary tho.
