    • If only Churchill was in power And not Nevil, the Nazis wouldnt of have Broken Versalles, And would of been sanctioned AF in 1936, but no, UK And France's politics were to obsessed over having peace, so much, that they didnt say anything to Germany during the remilitazation of the Rhineland or the annexation if Austria And Czeckoslovakia, while Churchill kept saying that they need to stop Germany And be strict with Germany. Funny, because Churchill actually planned a war against the Soviets "Operation Unthikable" because first: *He didnt fucking trust Stalin* Second: *Save those countries that they swore they would protect* But the US didnt want to do it, And that is why It is funny, the US, the country that after WW1 said on Roosevelt's 14 points that there Will be an independent Polish state never did anything to help Poland at all And also, why not attack the soviets if you are going to have a cold war with them in a bit less than 20 years?

  • I strongly recommend watching Polish director Andrzej Wajda's great "Kanal" (1957), the first film to use the subject of the Warsaw Uprising as its setting. Home Army members try to escape the encircling Nazis by taking to the sewers, only to face their own mortality, and the inevitability of heroic defeat Wajda's father was a victim of the Katyn Massacre, and he himself a resistance fighter: the film has a sense of authenticity like no other.

Only a small percentage of deaths were due to fighting, the vast majority were massacred by German forces and the barbarity of some irregular SS units is beyond human comprehension.

The ghetto uprising was few years earlier than Warsaw uprising so I think the title can mislead someone to think that the Polish Jews had tanks. There was no chance for them to capture a tank.

Despite the USSR invasion of Poland in September 1939 (you are reading it right, the war did not begin in 1941 for you), no war was declared on them by anyone for some reason. The relations were tense after the Katyn issue came to light, but there was never any declaration of war. Get it right. Also, there were no orders to engage RKKA, Home Army actually liberated Vilnius and Lviv together with them (another suicidal idiocy called Operation Tempest). After which the NKVD had the HA officers arrested (some executed there and then) and the regular soldiers were given the 'choice' between joining their puppet Polish army or going to gulag. Home Army ordered to engage the RKKA. What a load of tosh.

After he came back from captivity to Warsaw in 1940, he was catched on the street by GESTAPO and sent to the Auschwitz for almost 3 years. • It's heartbreaking how powerless Britain was to intervene on Poland's behalf in the entire war. Poland is just too far away to directly support, General Sosabowski of the 1st Independant Polish Parachute Brigade was desperate to fly his troops to Warsaw and although our lancasters had a range of 4000km which put Poland in range but most of them would have been shot down leaving a paltry few paratroopers to jump into Warsaw. Awful business and I feel for the Free Polish Army

    • @书中自有黄金屋 I hardly consider "Danzig or war" to be a peaceful negotiation attempt. Regardless, the German policy of Lebensraum was the primary reason for the invasion, the Great War loss of Danzig was just a convenient excuse to attack. Also, was the killing of 20% of the Polish population and 90% of the Polish Jewish population really necessary for the Germans to "save their people"?

  • Great video as always! Does this mean that the damaged Hetzer currently on display at the Polish Army Museum is not actually from the Uprising? Signage identifies it as the one captured and used during the city Rising.

  • During the uprising, 13 August, another vehicle was captured Sd.Kfz.301. The joy of soldiers and civilians from capturing the vehicle turned into a great tragedy. The vehicle exploded, killing about 300 people who came to admire it. The explosion also wounded the leader of the entire uprising, General Komorowski. Most historians claim that it was a trap set by the Germans, the vehicle was detonated with a time fuse. However, newer studies indicate that this could have been an accident caused by the drivers? Unfortunately, the Wikipedia article is available only in Polish.

  • With the due respect to the fighters in the Ghetto Uprising in 1943 and the fighters in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, please correct the inaccuracy in the title: there were no "Ghetto Panzers". Not whole Warsaw was enclosed in the ghetto walls, and the Jewish fighters in the Ghetto Uprising couldn't unfortunately count on captured enemy armored vehicles. Thank you.

  • The Polish uprising was one of the bravest events of WW2. They knew completely going in, it was win or die. After several Home Army successes Himmler ordered the Kaminsky and Dirlewanger Brigades into action. Units made up of Disciplinary units, criminals and murderers. Their excesses in the City were SO excessive that after the uprising Heeres Generals pleaded to Himmler to have the worst of the bunch executed. Several photos show SS Tarnjacken being worn. They were captured and worn after a massive SS Lager was overrun. Perhaps the biggest irony was, after the War, the very few that survived were brutally murdered, imprisoned, and tortured by the Soviets and their Polish Communist puppets after the War. Same fate was in store for the brave Polish RAF fighter pilots that returned to Poland after the War. A sad story all around.
