This video is squarely aimed at those that would like to learn how to build there first 1/35 Tamiya military plastic model kit.
The Classic Tamiya kit in 1/35 scale of the Jeep Willys MB 1/4 ton 4x4 truck is my recommendation for a first time build kit of the 1/35 series of military miniatures. It has relatively few parts, but excellent detail some parts are small and maybe a challenge. Why not build one on the weekend with a younger family member, relative of friend?
Time scale of this build-
TO BUILD KIT - 1h:42m
TO PAINT OLIVE DRAB - 0:30m
TO DETAIL PAINT WHEELS / SEATS - 0:30m
TO FINAL ASSEMBLE - 0:30m
TO WEATHER THE MODEL (OPTIONAL) - 1h:30m
Approximate Costs-
The Tamiya Jeep kit - $20
Budget tools *side cutter, knife, forceps - $15
Olive drab spray paint - $5
Other paints - $10
Ancillaries *brushes, thinner, cement - $15

  • Thanks for this very informative video. I'm 60 yrs old and haven't built a model in 50 years. I'm looking for a relaxing hobby since I can't do alot of my outdoor hobbies anymore. I'm starting an Itareti 1:35 Commando Car no. 320 tomorrow. Hopefully I won't lose, break or glue too many pieces to myself. I appreciate the time you took to explain in simple terms for us new guys.

  • Neat build! Although I've been modeling a long time it's always fun to watch a really talented person do one. Only thing I can add is watch putting on the white stars on U.S. vehicles. The star goes with the point straight up on the sides and with the point facing back towards the driver when viewing facing the vehicle from the front. Had that pointed out to me by a W.W.II vet who was looking at an old effort of mine!

  • I had done this kit before. This model had some tricky parts assy and need some attention in to detail ie. tiny wind shield washer motor, a right position of Thomson's gun, rear view mirror, machine gun ammunition box...

  • I have long had the desire to make this Willy Jeep, but something larger than 1/35 scale such as 1/18 or 1/15 🤗 and I looked in many hobby shops and 🤔could not find a Willy Jeep until a week ago I bought the 1/35 Jeep😀and to make it larger won't be easy by looking in this model 1/35 now that I have purchased and I looked at the pieces in this kit 🧐and also watched this video here on Facebook and with all that painting ! I'm a bit hesitant to make it and even the 1/35 model itself ! 😒

  • Im new to the hobby so here comes a stupid question 😅 So the tamiya ultrathin will stick to a painted area? I have been gluing as much parts before painting and the rest with superglue. I glued to much stuff on my mathilda tank and realised it got hard to get the paint in some of the areas. Really good tutorial 🍻

What's a POM doing in Russia? Anyway I'm trying to get the misses involved but that would include her seeing my other debt card so Ill just hang on that one.

    @southpaw5483@southpaw54839 ай бұрын

      @TheBearScaleModels@TheBearScaleModels9 ай бұрын
    • In my experience, it doesn't. I have used many of those disposable cups for mixing. My model painting is probably 95%+ Tamiya acrylic and the cups have never melted or interacted with the paint. Perhaps the plastic composition is different with cups sold in the UK vs. U.S. where I reside?
