The main part about the physical is to NOT have any health issues or any MAJOR health issues😂 But I take the ASVAB this Monday and lowkey scared asl. I scored a 42 on the PiCat but I might not score that high on the actual test

    • You REALLY didn't miss much. My big brother was rejected by the Army because he's color blind. The Marines, at that time, didn't give a damn about that! He did 6 years. It bothered him that he requested to be deployed for Desert Storm and was denied (essential base personnel). I was hand picked to deploy from Germany for Desert Storm because of my job (generator mechanic). It sucked big donkey dicks! No booze!!!!! None!

    • I dropped out of highschool..I had fractured my Femur; spent 3 months in the hospital. Kids who were awaiting trial for Murder received teachers at the youth detention section of the County Jail. Upon being discharged I had a full leg cast from my ankle to my groin. Because there wasn't a functioning elevator, I wasn't allowed to attend school for another 6 weeks. I was then told that I had to make up all missed assignments within 10 days or I would fail. That Fracture had occurred during football practice. In August of 1979. So, I quit school and became a Paratrooper. Oh, through UNC Chapel Hill N.C. I received my Regents Diploma having scored in the top 1 100th of one %! Of All Regents Graduates. Upon completing an extremely difficult opp in which not one Paratrooper in The Entire 82nd Airborne Division ( Not including the guys/and gals who lived on the West Coast due to the Airborne Census of...a certain number that I will 86 from. For these Rangers. Special Forces Groups,... Paratroopers seldom had the opportunity to go home. Me, I served in a special operations Light Airborne Engineer Unit all by it's lonesome. Still, they had few opportunities. Where as I got to go home periodically. When ever I wanted. Upon starting the opp, I soon realized just why not one Ranger. Green Beret. No one. But. Oh it was 1300 hrs on Christmas Eve 1981 when the mission began. You could not possess a credit card. A check or a check book. Nor any pocket change or paper US currency. Any legal tender. You could were your Army field Jacket. An MLB or NFL or College NCAA Team ball cap. You had to wear sneaks. Levi's, socks. A long John Top. US Army supplied. An olive (OD Green.) or white T-shirt. A belt. Non US Army issue. You could wear a button down polyester long sleeve shirt. Oh, it was 87° at the back section of Ardennes at the top of the hill leading down to the then New motor pool. Which there's a secret passage out of Division and off Fort Bragg. You could wear 2 pairs of socks. You could only wear your OD Green glove inserts. Your wallet. Your Green Credentials as well as your home State issued Drivers license. Your Federal Drivers license. You went down to the armory inhouse and sign out 1 multi strap sheath and 1 Bowie Knife. It had to be concealed. You also had to wear your "Dog Tags." Inside of your wallet, you were allowed to carry 5 printed phone numbers. 1. Your unit. 2. Your Battalion Commander's exchange phone number. 3. A US Army Post or facility/arsenal somewhere between your unit and your home State. 4. A United States Army Post, facility/arsenal. And last. Since you knew your home phone number; 1 number of a friend or relative. You had to call The Battalion Commander by 0800 hours EST stating that you were in your home State. The closer the State, the less time you had. America shuts down sometime between 22 and 23 hundred hours. At 0100 hours, Christmas morning 1981, I was on the Outer loop near Dundalk. I almost was arrested by a Maryland State Trooper who would not help me get under the Baltimore Tunnel. I ended up walking the sliver curb on the belt way as it snowed. Hard. A man picked me up with Illinois plates. More to follow

  • The ASVAB isn’t too scary. as long as you have an IQ higher than 83 you’ll be fine. It’s like any other test you take in High School. I slept and did all this at etc. didn’t do too good in high school. But got a 46 on the asvab. That was in 2009. Still joined the Army. In 2018 I scored a 56 and that was to enlist marines. So truth is you could fail School and still pass the asvab. 83 is a pretty low IQ.. if all else fails and you don’t know the answer, choose C. I suck at math, so most of the math questions were C.

    • What score you need also depends on what job your hoping to get, but the general score for each is, ‘Army: 31, Marines: 31, Coast Guard: 40, and Airforce: 31. Also depends if you’re trying to join while having a high school diploma or a GED, I think the required minimum is higher depending on those as well.

  • I go take the test next week, I was going to take it this past Tuesday but work has become overwhelming. I scored a 71 on the practice test so I am not too worried, I don't know a whole lot about some of the general science and anatomy questions they ask, and some math questions. I hope I do good next week. My recruiter is suggesting the Picat but I think I might just take the ASVAB because If I dont get the Picat within so much percent when I take it the second time at MEPS Ill have to take the ASVAB anyway..

  • Your overall score doesnt matter all that much, it's just comparing you to everyone else who has taken it. Your line scores are what matter. Take practice tests, figure out what you struggle with the most along with what line scores your MOS requires you to have at a certain level and study those. Once you get in, you can always do classes to improve your score if you want to go to a school or reclass. If you're still in high school/college, take that shit seriously and learn something because it WILL help you with the critical thinking aspect of many of the questions the ASVAB will ask as well as teach you valuable test-taking skills. Take it from someone who scored a 98 overall and had 135 line scores across the board.
