This is a demo of how we teach Thai in Thai in a way students of all nationalities can understand even if they don't speak Thai or English.
This demo lesson is taught to real students of Duke Language School. Most are near complete beginners, while some have taken a few courses.
Teaching in front of the camera for the first time, Kruu Kik was a little camera shy :)

  • I plan on moving there in April. Would love to sign up and also get the 1 year visa as I plan a long stay. After about 60 days would I be able to converse and order food in Thai?

    • Hi, sorry for the late reply. Sawàtdì̩i means "hello", and "kâ" is used by females. Basically, it's a greeting.

  • I hate it when they teach like this. Because although it's correct. NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE. speaks like this. EVER!!! With modern day slay and laziness... You will get so lost and confused in "real world conversations" and you will actually sound like an idiot amoungst friends. Plus you will be expecting them to talk this way... And you will be so lost it's not even funny.

    • Thank you for your feedback. This video depicts the very first day of a Journey 1 Thai language course for complete beginners with no prior knowledge. Speaking slower aids in correct pronunciation and comprehension. As the course progresses, we introduce more natural conversational styles. We appreciate your input as we strive to meet the diverse needs of our students.
