Behind the scenes of how the maps from Lich's '100 players race to the void' video were created. This project took over 300 hours of work and is one of my greatest achievements in Minecraft. These 5 custom cave maps include gothic, roman, jungle and steampunk styles, along with spider infestations and a dark twist on the nether. One of my main goals was to improve upon the vanilla structures, such as the ancient cities in the deep dark, strongholds, dungeons, nether fortresses and jungle temples. This hardcore Minecraft tournament was our largest yet, but even bigger things are on the way soon!
I am delighted to see that in the time since this video was recorded (spring 2023) Mojang has in fact updated the cave structures with the addition of the #trialchambers coming in 1.21 update. I think this is an excellent start and I'm excited to see what Mojang implements next.

I think the thing you are missing is that you are a better builder than anyone on the entire development team. Even "great" builders can't build as good as you.

Honestly, I don’t get why people trash on the caves like they’re great the way they are why should there be city’s underground when there should be at the surface.
the main issue is that after a while cave exploration can get quite boring, not every cave needs a city in it but if one has a rare chance of showing up then it adds to the experience of exploring

sick map bro, you should make it a datapack so that some of these structures can naturally be spawned underground in other worlds
