Sabbione is a hidden gem that offers an insight into the rural life and culture of Switzerland. It is a place where you can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Sabbione is a small village in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland, located in the district of Leventina, near the border with Italy. It has a population of about 50 people and is known for its traditional stone houses and picturesque mountain views.
Sabbione is so charming because it has preserved its historical and cultural heritage. The village has a small church dedicated to Saint Martin dating from the 14th century and frescoes from the 15th and 16th. The church is also the starting point of a pilgrimage route that leads to the nearby sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso.
Another reason why Sabbione is so attractive is that it offers a variety of natural attractions. The village is surrounded by forests, meadows and streams that create a peaceful and relaxing environment. The most impressive natural feature of Sabbione is the Sabbione Waterfall, which is a 40-meter cascade that flows into the River Brenno. The waterfall is accessible via a hiking trail that leads from the village through a forest and a bridge. The trail is about 2 kilometers long and takes about 45 minutes.

  • Visited Lucern as a child in the early 80s. The absolute beauty of Switzerland stayed with me my entire life and I still dream of one day returning. If I ever won the lottery, I'd definitely buy a home there.

  • I had a dream. I had a dream I was with my whole family driving up to these massive mountains. My dream was so vivid, so beautiful. All the beautiful colors, the beautiful landscaping. In my dream, my dad, mom, sister, and brother were there. Even though they had all passed years before. I didn't want to wake up. But I did. We even have a family Cemetery it's under the name Publicover ❤ we shipped over to Canada many years ago on the boat named the Sally. But I have a going back to Sweden in the 1500s our original name was Bublicofer. But I think my family didn't know how to spell back in those days so there's lots of variations but we're all the same family
