Once again Cosmo the Cougar has performed another viral stunt and this stunt was crazy. It feels like every year, Cosmo continues to up the ante when it comes to crazy mascot stunts and it made me want to look into the history of Cosmo the mascot and what it takes to be the craziest mascot in sports. It also makes me curious about what his training regimen is like. I told Cole Adams I was going to do this last week so here we go: BYU, Cosmo the Cougar take me through your training regimen because it is wild what you are able to do. Let’s go through the history of BYU's Cosmo the Cougar.

2nd cousin was Cosmo for a couple of years…nobody believed him until he performed at a family reunion and did nearly all the crazy Cosmo stunts in front of the families!!!
Those stunts are impressive without being half blind in the suit. This is super impressive.
My father Daniel T Gallego was the first and third Cosmo’s in BYU history. His future wife Myrtle Caroline Borup unveiled him at the end of his time being Cosmo. I loved hearing his stories
Cosmo is a damn celebrity in Utah 🤣. Any event he shows up to is a banger!
I don’t know about craziest, but Cosmo is definitely the best and most awesome mascot! So multi-talented. The whole package x 10.
Dont forget last year when they had 2 stacks of 3 tables and he did suicide pushups from one level to the next!

Understanding the training you have to go through to be Cosmo the Cougar stunned me
I moved to Springville a few years ago, a small city just south of Provo. Several weeks ago I had a late errand to run at about 8PM one evening. I happened to be stopped at the light on center and Main Street and glanced over at the city library just to see Cosmo sprint past me running around the outside perimeter of the library breakneck pace…. Not sure what the event was, but I do now have an official cosmo sighting in the “wild”. Cosmo and the Cougarettes are a awesome.
Okay, walking down 3 flights of stairs...ON YOUR HANDS-- okay, that's no joke. Unbelievably hard.
That's in the now-demolished HFAC building; the stairwells are double a normal stairwell because they are just outside the theaters; accommodates the fly systems and orchestra pit. So he's doing about 6 flights of stairs.

Cosmo is definitely the most entertaining and skilled mascot. Sometimes I wonder if he's the best athlete on the court/field!

I moved to Utah just a couple miles from BYU and I had no idea they had this gnarly mascot! I want to attend a game now
BYU football at Lovell Edwards Stadium is electric. Well with the price of admission.
Was at my sisters graduation and he was just running around campus and doing flips and taking pictures. Honestly he's a little scary though. But cool.
LOL. I love the one with him going down the stairs in a sleigh. HAHA
So legit. I mean, your research! Cosmo is incredible. Didn’t realize how much as a BYU fan until 2017. Didn’t know a lot of the history including the meaning of “the cougars are out” and the meaning of the name Cosmo. I watched him do back handsprings the entire length of the football field once! They said it was some kind of record. He had a golf cart waiting with someone in it who picked him up and drove him off the second he was done. Most likely to take off the mask and let him breathe!
I attended the basketball game when university president Ernest L. Wilkinson, who usually had a very serious demeanor, was unveiled as Cosmo after rappelling down a rope from the catwalk above the basketball floor. One line for which he was famous instructed students to stay on sidewalks instead of cutting across the lawns, which they were damaging. He said, " Get your bod off the sod!" We loved Uncle Ernie.
Since we have had live cougars downtown Provo, the town where BYU is, I wouldn't be so sure there haven't been any live cougars more recently on BYU campus.
Hands down, Cosmo is the BEST mascot in college sports.
Cosmo is the BEST! That's why we named our dog after him!
"Regularly collaborates with the BYU dunk team as well". The BYU dunk team IS Cosmo haha. Little known secret is they take turns wearing cosmo based on which events are happening and what class schedules look like.
