This isn't really a review of the Motolug trailer, more just a short video to show you how great & simple they are to use.

    • Thanks Cliff, the plan is to use the trailer for transportation of the bike to further away places especially if I intend to do some off-road riding. Travel in comfort in the car, arrive fresh, ride and then either camp overnight or drive home. 👍

    • Thanks Tony, hope you're keeping well. Have you got another bike yet? This trailer is a revelation, so easy to use and if you have limited space for storage, simply dismantle it and put it in a cupboard. 😂

    • @@701Adventures hi Steve. Keeping well thanks 👍. Finally sold the property completion is any day now between February 14th and March 1st so started looking lol 😂 decisions decisions looked at another GTR an FJR and a Gs 1250 😂😂

    • @@anthonyprosser967 I wouldn’t personally go for the GS1250, I’d wait to see when the GS1300 is due to be released. Have you considered an Africa Twin DCT?

    • @@701Adventures I have looked at that many lol I’m wondering about the weight of some and the hight like the GS ,Africa , and multistrada

    • @@anthonyprosser967 The GSA is quite a heavy bike, I’ve never ridden a GS so I’m not sure what they feel like weight wise. You’ll find something when the times right. 👍

  • Good idea Steve, and over time will pay for itself, plus you will still have the value of the trailer should you want to sell it in the future ....my trailer towing days are now behind me lol

  • I noticed quite a bit of movement on the staps at some bumps. Could be interesting to watch som closeup of them too. To see how they moove. Don't want them to accidentally unlatch.

    • Yes it did occasionally look as though the straps were loose as I went over the bumps however upon regularly checking the tension of the straps they were always tight. Nevertheless a fork brace would minimise front suspension travel and limit the movement of the straps so I’m going to make one to fit. 👍

  • Might be worth checking the new rules for the ABR trail course is that bikes not fitted with factory passenger pegs from new arnt allowed on course, 👍

    @neilcollinson6540@neilcollinson6540 Жыл бұрын
    • Neil, yes I saw those new rules emerge last year after I'd purchased my tickets. I contacted the organisers and they assured me (and I have this in writing from them) that because the 701 is supplied new with rear passenger pegs even though they are not fitted at the point of purchase I shall be fine using it on the trails at Ragley Hall. The rear pegs do not need to be fitted when I attend the event, it's enough that the bike is supplied with them. They explained the purpose of the restriction was to prevent full blown Enduro bikes ripping through the course which they alledge has been happening and resulting in a number of complaints from others who are attending on big adventure bikes etc. 👍

  • Leaf springs would be better

    @patgrace2857@patgrace28574 ай бұрын
    • Yes I completely agree. I've used this trailer quite a bit during 2023 and it's performed perfectly and I think for its price it's reasonable value for money. However I've recently been looking at the Debon C300 which is luxury on two wheels and does have leaf springs for a smoother journey however that comes at a significantly higher price. 👍

  • Hi Steve - thanks for the video - very interesting. I'm currently looking for a trailer to take my old BSA Bantam to a local track (I don't have a bike license 😪). My bike is about 100 Kg and I would prefer to push it up the ramp on my own. Would you be able to tell me the length of the ramp and the height off the ground when the other end is on the ground. That way I will be able try to work out the gradiant. If it's too steep for me, do you think its possible for me to extend the ramp and reduce the gradient, just for loading purposes? Cheers Andrew

    • Andrew thanks for the comment. Here's a link to the specifications for my trailer from Motolug, www.motolug.com/Motolug-Motorcycle-Trailer-SE. The height of the trailer is dependant on what type of vehicle the trailer is hitched to and also what size wheels you have fitted to the trailer. The standard wheel size is 8" but they also do an optional 10" wheel which is what I have fitted. I know you said you prefer to push your bike up the ramp, well you can easily do that with this trailer, or alternatively you can just feather the clutch with the bike running and let the engine do the hard work. The front wheel chock is adjustable for different wheel sizes and once you front wheel is engaged in the chock you can release grip on the bike and start tethering it down. If you have any other concerns I would call Motolug and I'm sure they'll help you out, they seem a very friendly bunch when I've had to call them. 👍
