Somehow I think IF Bryce and Rasa decided to settle anywhere, this would be it. * also In the US we pronounce it shaam-baah-la (like the song). There’s a shambala center in Boulder, Colorado (I visited with a member once).
I firmly agree with what this guy said about getting your hands in the soil. It is better than any talk therapy I've ever had. I adore the smell of fresh damp earth. It's like a high that can't be reproduced by anything else, because I believe it releases endorphins that make you feel so good. I hope Bryce, that you and Rasa will do a video of his tiny home and/or tiny homes on the property. It would be amazingly interesting to hear their perspective on such a unique way of living. TFS

The journey of this young family is awe inspiring, even at age 74 I still garden and practice permaculture on my tiny inner city plot in Florida. You can no longer see my house for the fruit trees and veggies planted to hide me away and feed my soul and belly...such peace is had even in a huge city full of humans...I have created my own Shambhala, each day is a dream come true...AWESOME, thank you...!

I feel the tiny house movement often involves a lot of making a smaller impact on the environment or even counteracting the negatives of human existence by creating a large outdoor space full of vibrant plants and natural ecosystems. I think it would be a great addition to the channel. So often tiny home videos have a large garden with or block of land and the owners so frequently emphasise the importance of being outside.

An acre is a large amount of land. You can do an incredible amount with that! Will be exciting to see what you create!
Yep, an acre is a lot of land. My sister makes do with less than an eighth of an acre and she now has a mango and pawpaw trees in full bloom and vegetables that feed her family.
I love this, Bryce. I live in a unit which has very little garden. in 2020 I began to panic about food security, and planted a tiny strip behind my house in whatever seeds were available to grow in March in NZ when my potential garden loses the sun. Last year i harvested sufficient silver beet, lettuce, courgettes and green onions to feed myself and my neighbor. So satisfying.....
That’s fantastic! It’s amazing how much you can achieve in a small space. When I first got into permaculture, I lived in a city apartment. There, I had a balcony where I was growing all kinds of food, flowers and even had a worm farm. It’s amazing how much produce you can grow on even a small balcony. If I stayed longer, I was planning to design a beehive that I could hang over the edge. In a way, I’m even more excited about urban permaculture and rewilding because there’s so much potential to turn our urban and suburban spaces into incredible ecosystems.
We are celebrating my granddaughters 12th birthday this weekend and one of the gifts we bought her was a seed starter kit that came with a book telling her when to plant and how to care for her crop. 🎉
I've been dreaming up a project that would look so much like this! Tiny houses, permaculture, retreat center, community living. Wow! It is so heart warming to see that this exists, and inspires me to make my own version a reality. Thank you Bryce, and thank you to Shambhala for sharing :)

A totally important message - to grow in whatever space you have available. I used to have big organic gardens, but, because of physical health issues, I now practice small-space gardening. As was said here - anything you can produce yourself is meaningful. Thank you for concentrating on these vital truths.
When he mentioned that 2008 was a wake up call, he really was right. I never thought about it before, but now I realise it was a wake up call that we wanted and did ignore for the most part. Society really can’t carry on the way it is, no matter how we convince ourselves. I’m already growing trees, food and flowers in the garden while continuing to develop it, but I wish I had started a lot sooner. Great video x

Man does this bring a smile to my face. I’ve been brought up by a grandfather that always grew his own food. Beautiful gardens. He was such an inspiration to me even at a very young age. I thought that it was so cool. Whereas others thought it was boring. I’ve never changed on my outlook of what my grandpa did back then. I’ve carried it until now. In my 40’s and growing and taking care of my own gardens. There is no money that can buy that can replace FRESH produce. The taste and nutrients from store bought to your backyard is immeasurable. This is such a beautiful piece of land that holds beautiful people. This is what will change the planet. One garden at a time. 🙏🏼❤️💯🤙🏼👍🏼

This was truly inspiring. I did WWOOFing a decade ago while traveling in Aus. Being able to harvest fresh produce from the garden really felt amazing and you get a sense of gratification and gratitude for what you have.
so uplifting to see younger folk pick up the ethos, and then share knowledge and love and caring. I love the emphasis on community, and how one can do so much with intercropping, plant associations, and synergistic systems-based logics. Thank you for doing what you do! I feel so terrified for the kids of tomorrow, because we have really messed-up; this sort of message, irrespective of your beliefs, just works, as it brings productive hope to younger folk who care as deeply and are so worried about the trajectory we are on. These prosperity-oriented projects bring more than well-being, they create hope. I’m so touched, and relieved. Well done!

Heaven on earth is the first thing I immediately thought, while watching this wonderful video. It is the most beautiful way to live, to valorise the land that we all have, some have little, some have a lot, but it is vital to feed ourselves with the products we grow. It's an ancestral thing and when I think about supermarkets and packaged food, I realize how many people on this planet are living in the wrong and unhealthy way. Craig has created a beautiful community, an exemplary way of life. A high spiritual choice.

I don't know how you do it but finding the special people in the world is your universal magic. This place is magical and the message of providing for your food needs is essential. The world has regressed since Covid and depression seems to be more and more prevalent. Connecting with the earth daily is free rejuvenation. Also food grown in your own garden tastes better and is healthier for our frequently ailing bodies. Thank you for sharing the important message and this amazing family's vision ❤❤❤❤.

Just finished watching and immediately signed up, then watched the video again. Amazing Farm and vision of them both. "Community sufficiency" goes beyond community resilience; I haven't heard this concept mentioned for a long time. I used to organically grow vegetables, but I now live in a unit and recently started to go to the local community garden (unfortunately only open Sunday afternoon due to being on school grounds), I find it centres me and provides me connection with soil and plants

Shambhala Farms IS such a treasure! Wow. What an inspiration this beautiful space is! If we had more people living in communities like this, rather than isolated in individual homes on individual properties - as is usually mandated by local laws - I think we would have so many more healthier, happier people. The more I see videos that show tiny house communities sprouting up, where the residents are connected to each other and to the land, the more I see that we need to make changes in how we westerners choose to set up our societies. Love, love, love this!! There is so much more we can do in our yards than grow grass and ornamentals. Cities and towns need to promote this instead of hindering it. A nice byproduct of COVID is more young folks are gardening. I volunteer at a school and would love to see children learning about permaculture and gardening from preschool all the way to college. So very much food is thrown away at lunchtime. If children participated in growing food and raising pigs and chickens, then cooking that food, the entire world would benefit. Except maybe pharmaceutical companies, 😂 TFS

Speaking of setting things up on a small scale, there was a man in America that planted an abundance of edible plants on his nature strip. He had to fight with the council at the time but won eventually. I cannot remember where I saw it exactly, whether it was a documentary or just a KZhead snippet of a news report. Regardless, the point remains that it doesn’t take a lot of space to set up something sustainable and impactful.
