My wife and daughter were both airlifted from a crash we were in back in July 2018. The cost was $27,000 for my wife and $2,400 for my daughter. I honestly believe that there was a billing error for my daughter. In any event our auto insurance covered the cost. I have no doubt that the time saved vs ground transport is the reason they are both still here.

Why so many dislikes? :( God bless these men and women who work as the first responders. I used to be a fireman myself in this rural community in southern Idaho in the United States. We would respond to traffic accidents, and on occasion we would also have to set up landing zones for Life Flight. I would never get a helicopter transport from them, or any other company. Only if it is state run, like in Maryland, New Jersey, and possibly Delaware, will I do it if I need it. Those states it is run by the state police, and is paid for by license plate fees. It is free when you need it. The hospital may charge a helicopter off load fee, but that is pennies compared to what companies like Life Flight charge. They are taking advantage of tragedy, by charging $50,000-$60,000 for the service. Insurance only covers so much, so the patient is in the hook for about $30,000 of it. Most patients can't afford that. It's sad because it only costs them about 5% of that to operate the trip. On top of that, they usually are unable to consent to the service when it is called, so they are not conscious when the helo is called, and they are then stuck with that bill for a service, that they had no say in obtaining.
