My grandad was the bass guitarist for them, was never my kind of music but now I’m older I can respect how good his band actually was very proud.
Right, little chance that musical note runs in your family. Start a band if you fall short failing to hit the big time perhaps you'll inspire future generations of angry teens not to lose hope. Have fun use caution.
Jesus... grandad, so old are WE ? I rememnber this being a teen. LOve it. Congrats, man.
I've just found this and it's amazing!
I’ve been listening to this album for yearsss and I always come to listening their album all over again. One of a kind 💕
What was the lead singers name?
To Wolf band, metalheads are still headbanging to your songs almost 40 years later!!!
Over 40 years now
Sometimes the most hidden music is the greatest
This is a great album no question
Thats right !!!
Definitely not! This is great stuff but no way is it the greatest or amongst them. Still a solid release
Quasi sempre. No qualche volta.. il meglio si trova sempre nell’underground
@@Annihilation_0f_The_Wicked9066intanto impara l’alfabeto poi parla di musica rincoglionito
NWOBHM in seiner besten Form, eine Stimme von einem anderen Stern. Eine Melodie, die zum Träumen verleitet.... STARK.
excellent album fine guitars solid songs great band
Most epic sound from these guys
The album cover was the reason I bought Wolf and the album is still in my rotation.
The artwork is great like the music, I also bought it for the cover and was indeed not disappointed by the quality of the music.
Классная группа
Да согласен,слушается на ура
One of the best NWOBHM albums of all time!!!!
agree!!
It's 40 years old
Grande NWOBHM !!
Classic best heavy metal.
very good........................................................................................................................
Kick ass thunderrock 😎😎💪💪💪💪💪💪😎😎😎🤗🤗👍👍👍👍
Bought it 84 just because of the artwork; no idea, that I've got one of the most precious metal albums of the NWoBHM. Cheers dor the upload
love this, mello relaxing. this was popular with the metal heads in middleton ns back in 1989 90
There are two great metal bands called Wolf! This one from the UK, and one from Sweden.
Thank you
Hearing this in the music studio system is amazing!
Capa linda, álbum mais lindo ainda.....nwobhm no talo!!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!!
This album has this effortless feeling of wide open space, the riffs are so simple yet stylish and have a perfect unhurried galloping pace, even the weird cheap synth gives a perfect vibe, a simply perfect NWOBHM record
Yes 🤘
I picture myself driving an easy rider up to this , flatout on the highway
Holy shit, never heard of this band at all. There is definitely a good quality here. I'm lovin it. I love it when music puts a smile on my face and my foot and head start moving on their own. This band did just that.
👍
Great power Metal!
de nada bro
This is not power metal, but NWOBHM or New Wave of British Heavy Metal :-).
Verdade amigo, a música contagia o ouvinte! O Heavy Metal tem esse poder! Longa Vida!
Still rocking out to these guys , still as good as the day it was made...
Yes!
WOW ... a real blast from the past ... saw the cover on the you tube home page and memories brought flooding back ... had to click and listen Yeah .... I had the cassette and it played in my SAAB 99GL along with my other fave bands of the time Saracen Holosade WARFARE Saw the comment from. BIGGY. made me feel old !! Still Rocking it though
this album is NWOBHM magic, I can't coherently explain why this album makes me smile so much. It's fabulous, it's a work of art that deserves to be in a class of its own.
Why have I never heard this before. They are like WASP and Rainbow combined. Amazing!
Righteousness
Este álbum es un filete de oro frito ,sabroso al primer bocado.
Great Heavy Metal Album
This is an album that everyone, no matter what their primary music taste is, can like. Or even love. It's weird. There's nothing soft or mellow about this album at all - it's heavy metal - yet it's still something you could put on the radio and no one would say "turn that down".
Excellent hard rock ! Underrated rock album
Heavy metal
Super music
I’ve loved this band half of my life
Thanks 2Guys1Tv
Kind of crazy how weirdly awesome this album is. When you hear it you think...ahh some 80's fade. Then it haunts you so pleasantly...repeats in yer mind. So I play it.
This is brillant! No doubt ranking as a Top 5 NWOBHM album.
Absolutely great album glad I found this little beauty
Wolf Rock.....this album is a beauty! There were some amazing uk rock banding in the 80s praying mantis and dark star being 2 more.
You can guys try : Gravestone - Back to Attack and Flight - A Leap Through Matter, my pleasure 🤘🔥
My favourite album from this era and genre bar none. The perfect combination of metallic edge, melody, great vocals and songwriting. Their Friday Rock Show session blew me away and they then took forever to release this album on the obscure Belgian Mausoleum label (which to my knowledge has yet to release it on CD). This band (aka Black Axe) were so good some of their best songs never even made it on to this album. A completely obscure but outstanding masterclass in hard rock.
If you are hungry for more from them - there's also single with alternative version of Highway Rider and A Soul For The Devil. And BBC Friday Rock Show with four songs, including "Night From The Blue". Pity that BBC didn't release it on LP or casette!
This is awesome. I like the way he's singing "the edge of the world" part
My eyes are white fire, Wings of fear, go higher, The energy below, is ready to blow. Bells are ringing, Lucifer is dancing and singing, I see mountain cry, ready to die. See magician, No-one will ever reach him, The time has come, nowhere to run. The sun is shaking, And the heart of medusa is waking, As we fly, cover your eyes. With you, standing at the edge of the world, With you, standing at the edge of the world, With you, standing at the edge of the world, With you. Thunder beats the marching requiem, Land and sea by fire break away, Time is counting out, You are crying out, Le coup de gras is under way. With you, standing at the edge of the world, With you, standing at the edge of the world, With you, standing at the edge of the world, With you.
A sooooul for the deeevil She took from me!!!! A soul in chains! God this album gets better the more you listen
Agree!
Pretty good, has a kind of Red Ryder vibe
A wonderful stand-alone album. The 12" version of Soul for the devil is a masterpiece.
Wow this is brilliant I love every track....A soul for the devil is amazing!!
One of the best albums of N.W.O.B.H.M. no doubt !
What a fucking awesome hidden gem
What a great album. Can't believe I didn't hear and buy this in 84. Oh well better late than never!
You can get your copy with high roller records they re- released this album on CD and vinyl in 2017 And so many forgotten gems ;)
Had this album back in 1984 (Mausoleum Records)... Bought it mainly because of the cover. Later had it burned to a CD-R (which I played the crap out of!) and finally got the re-release this past year. One of my favs from the NWOBHM times... Still play this one a ton and have the cover framed in my man cave! Favorite track is still "Highway Rider".
Is it only me or is "A Soul for the Devil" one of the top 100 songs of all time? At least in the top 10 of sexy metal songs.
Wonderfully 80s.
I bought this album on cassette back when it first came out, then played it so much the tape wore out.
High Roller Records Re-release the album on CD and Vinyl in 2017 if you want a copy.
so fucking perfect in my top 5 best ever underrated heavy metal albums. i adore this album, sorry this would make my top 5 best ever underrated heavy metal albums of all time. a great new wave of british heavy metal band wolf, sadly this was their only album. but what an album. good solid heavy metal that is not overkill. strong drum pattern, wonderful base and vocals, and sold riffs, those who love heavy metal from the 80's you ain't gonna get better than this. and of course this band was called black axe before but never did an album as them. #nwobhmforever
Whats number one?
I agree with you 100%. In my top 5 as well. Wish we could have gotten more! Up the hammers!! ⚡️🤘🏻⚡️
they have another album from when they were called black axe
Black Axe did however release the single Highway Rider C/W Red Lights 1981
I had this album several times, but never was aware how good it is. Now I know. Great!
Great album, the singer sounds just like Buck Dharma from BÖC.
❤️
Good news: It seems that High Roller Records wants to re-release Edge of the World on CD and LP! Their re-releases were so far top, with re-mastered audio and good booklets. I hope this will be the case as well with this one.
In april HRR will re-release some great albums that were longtime out of print: Wolf - "Edge of the world", Vault - "No more escape", Witchfinder General - "Death Penalty" Picture LP. But I still miss Re-Releases of Dark Angel - "We have arrived" LP (with original cover artwork please!), Quartz - self titled debut LP and Legend - "From the fjords". I hope they will reissue these mega rare albums too one day.
@@blacksabbath3474 I want a LP reissue of Quartz - Against All Odds.
Yep I got my cd copy with high roller records, great album!
BRILLIANT
TRUE HEAVY METAL !! Great songs !!
Totally agree!
Que riffs são esses!!! Sensancional!!! Abri uma breja!!!
I have a inclination to believe newer bands can t produce metal master pieces anymore,if I give them a try and notice on the first seconds they are trying hard to sound 80's I hate it even more. Well... I can't find my sword right now but if I could I would chopp my head off. What a fucking band!! I love more to find out I was wrong than to hate I was right! Instant love! This band sound so classic without lacking any originality.
A great band! I love the nostagic sonority from this album =) Can listen to it repeatedly 🎸🎸🎸 Hard to choose the best song.
Agree, love the artwork too!
The whole album is fantastic 🤘🔥
Love the crunchy guitar tone
Agree
I could listen to this kind of metal forever \m/
Try Gravestone - Back to Attack and. Flight-A Leap Through Matter 😉
One of the BEST nwobhm records ever made. Awesome!
Yes
🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘
Saw them support the Scorpions in 1982 on the Blackout tour at Hammy Odeon - thought they were really good - bought the Head Contact single (which like the B side (Soul for the Devil) sounds to be a different recording - a lot more keyboards on the latter - seemed to disappear after that tour which surprised me as they seemed to go down well. Nice to hear the album at last after all these years
Same tour @ Derby Assembly Rooms - went out and got the 12" Head Contact with Soul for the Devil - what a great track. Pity they only made one album!
Great band. Their logo looks like Wolverhampton FC lol
Love Shock Treatment, and Heaven Will Rock N Roll. Very fine album indeed!
+ highway rider
The whole album is just so good I can't choose only one song 🤘
such a badass sound
one of these albums i love coming back to again and again. an awesome album from wolf one of our best, from the new wave of british heavy metal. the riffs are magic, strong drum pattern, wonderful base and vocals too, it is heavy but not overkill. and a good soild metal band, if you are new to new wave of british heavy metal start with this. this is a great masterpiece example of this genre of metal. kick ass album cover too. #nwobhmforever those who love 80's metal you ain't gonna get better than this.
Jamie Warrior Warlord McCallum n j ink.
So good you made this comment twice! Good shit though!!!
This band....there is none other like it! I dont know where the hell i would be without WOLF.
Try Gravestone - Back to Attack. And Flight - A Leap Through Matter 🤘🔥
Underrated band, great sound, I definitely like it
Chris English's voice reminds me Eric Bloom from Blue Oyster Cult. Also, some instrumental parts on this album sound like Blue Oyster Cult. I like it!
Actually he sounds a lot closer to Donald Buck Dharma Roeser who sang lead on Then Came the Last Days of May , Wings Wetted Down , Teen Archer , Subhuman, Don't Fear the Reaper , Godzilla etc. Eric Bloom sang lead on Transmanaicon MC , Dominance and Submission , Astronomy , Black Blade etc. Eric Bloom had a rougher , Mick Jagger type tone , Buck Dharma had the clear softer voice
Nice to see some BÖC fans alive ☺ Didn't think of it, but there sure is some parts with böc sound
exelente albun no lo conocia y me impacto que sonido tan puro y fresco matal puro notendran mas albunes esta banda
maravilhoso album
Esse album é puro ouro mano!
Devo concordar!
Linhas vocais desse álbum são matadoras!!!
Capa linda e os instrumentos bem trabalhado!
@@eriweltonsouza9316 também achei demais os vocais
Killer record start to finish 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Yep 🤘🔥
Very underrated band their music is just great.
*Sexy as hell and vintage NWOBHM sound, sounds like a darker early Def Leppard, really wish* *they had more than 1 album which is a real shame. You can really tell that early Metallica & Megadeth were* *into this!.*
Cover your ass freak!
Razorfist brought me here. The music kept me.
This is however a different Wolf from the 80's
GREAT!
Back again loving it!!
what can anyone say with bands like this!! i cant imagine how life could be without bands like this one!! this album is pure gold!! and....uploader ..you really rock man! thanks so much!!
de nada bro
Vage Men 🤘
This feels like KISS/Priest. Kicks ass, especially the title track, damn that's good stuff.
i love that magic book part
that is the best part!
Pure metal forge.
Oh. A soul for the devil is the song I bet.
This has been the most complete LP, number one on my list, for about 15 years now. Yet, I don't think I've heard even 15 % of the words he is singing on it. Haha. Even though he has quite a clear way of singing and is English (even his last name), somehow, you just can't hear what he's singing :) This LP used to be at the front of my uncles' LP stand and I used to look at the cover when I was a kid. Didn't hear it until I was 15 or so.
This band used to be known as Black Axe . Great melodic Metal from the UK . Obviously a big influence upon the band Ghost
Is that stated or conjecture..?
Lol ghost
I'm not sure if Ghost ever heard of Wolf. If there are some random similarities they probably come from common influences like Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult and Mercyful Fate etc
I read an interview with the ghost singer and he said he's really influenced by nwobhm especially the bands with pop sensibility like Demon so I think you're right.
great album !!!
This album is a masterpiece !
Absolutely 🤘🔥
Great stuff, thank you!
Vocal top!!
Absolutely 🤘🔥
Love the album cover!
Same 🤘
AMAZING!
TOP MUSIC😃
to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and/or PROBABLY will SOMEWHAT like wolves and i did do and/or PROBABLY will really LOVE the band wolf
This is great!
awesome metal album from wolf one of our best from the new wave of british heavy album. i love the riffs strong drum pattern on this album too. wonderful base and vocals too, it is heavy but not overkill heavy for a good solid metal band. kick ass album cover too. #nwobhmforever
