The "Electric Night" Demo by Dune.
1st in the Silly Venture 2016 Atari Falcon Demo Competition!
The credits scroller at the end seems to be a bit faster in VGA, as it stops long before the music ends.
This is not the case in RGB mode!

Never mind the great graphics... That machine has been cable of that fidelity of audio *this whole time*?! MIND BLOWN. Quite a demo!
It always amazes me what can be done on such old machines when the right hands know what they're doing.
What blows my mind more than anything is the audio. I knew it had a powerful DSP chip but didn't realise what it was capable of. On the basis of this, it seems to blow the PC audio cards of the time out of the water. I don't think I got anything that could create anything close to this quality until the late 90s when I got a Yamaha sound card that was brilliant for music but even that, I don't think, was as good as this.
Remarkable indeed!
Great music! Reminds me of Tangerine Dream. Watched the entire video just to listen to the music.
Tangerine Dream Rulez!
yeah, very White Eagle!
Beeindruckende Arbeit auf einem 30 Jahre altem Gerät. ❤
Super cool!! .👍
The Falcon was an amazing bit of kit. Too bad it was too little too late to save Atari. 😥
Those 3D sections are fricking awesome!
Jawdropping, amazing coding skills. Nothing short of Amiga 060.
A Amiga A1000 could do this
@@pqrstzxerty1296 Don't be silly.
@@pkaulf Yes it could
@@pqrstzxerty1296sorry are you talking about the original vanilla A1000 from 1985? No it can’t even display a static image from this demo.
Just wanted to appreciate the graphics design, it's very good! Everything was great tho!
Very impressive demo. Would have loved it when i had my Falcon
the bubble bobble part was excellent
Dude come on, can't you use spoiler tags? I'm not that far in the video yet. (Joking of course).
Beautiful demo, truly impressive all around!
super demo showing the advanced specs of the falcon. really like the raycasting part, could make for a nice 3d space runner.
4:53 nice part i like the soundtrack too ^^ congrats guys ! ... and that credit part at 6:34 ! lovely piano melody :o
thanks for the like , finally my fav part is at 1:44 , so poetic ! its the best falcon demo i have seen ! :o
beautiful and impressive
Awesome showcase! Thanx 4 sharing! Cheers!
Hi Thorsten, Hope you had a good Christmas and have a Happy New Year. Nice demo BTY
Amazing!😮
Really impressive 🎉
Damn, this is awesome!
Old and great, so cool
This is historical . Demo of a personal computer with compact disc quality digital sound . I think it's the first .
Wow! Excellent work Thorsten!! Greetings from your brother and me!! 🥰
Hello SIL, greetings to you, too! And happy new year! 😍 Of course it's not MY work, I only presented it. 😉
great fast nice!!
Hi, great demo! We have a Atari Falcon in the HomeComputerMuseum in Helmond, the Netherlands. It would be nice to have this demo running there to showcase the machine's capabilities. Would that be OK? I tried the download link but that page gives a 404 error.
As I'm not the author of this demo, do as you like. ;-) Seems demozoo is down atm for maintenance. You can also use this link: www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=68566
Hi, I'm the author of this demo, and I would be really glad to know that you use it. Have a lot of fun with it. It was such a pleasure to make it with MIC and 505 (2 very great and talentuous persons)
@@laurentsallafranque1071 oh, wow, nice to have you here! A really great demo! 😎
Thanks à lot, and have fun, 😊
Very nice demo, Falcon rulezzz ;)
Can anyone ask 505 to upload the music somewhere?
At least the endpart music is included in the demo as an MP2 file, which can be played e.g. with VLC player on PC.
Thing that kills me is none of the hack groups ever produced commercial products. 😢
That's not entirely correct. Thalion/Eclipse games were made by members of TEX (The Exceptions) and TLB (The Lost Boys). Both famous demo groups (and sometimes crackers) from back then! You can clearly see their coding skills in most their games (border graphics, more colors, smooth scrolling, great music by Jochen "Mad Max" Hippel etc.).
Very impressive. Is there a gaming scene for the Falcon? I'd love to see some games for it.
There were only a handful Falcon only games, with poor commercial success. Well, only around 14000 Falcons were sold, so do the math... 😉
@@TPau65 yeah. Shame really. The rise of IBM compats and games consoles killed micro computers. Imagine a universe where micros succeeded, how great would that be. 😄
@@mrpositronia Commodore killed Atari, Wintel killed Commodore.
It is using the DSP?
Yes, DSP is used a lot in this demo, see credits at 6:35.
That is very impressive...Shame the atari falcon never got off the ground.
Atari falcon? More like Atari’s answer to the X68000!
An answer 5 years later to a computer that was only successful in Japan?
The Amiga 500 can only dream of doing something like this. It can not even display a frame from this demo as an static . Picture.
I didn't know Atari Falcon but must be more powerfull than Amiga 1200 🤔
In theory the Falcon is faster, yes. It depends of what people make with it.
Yes, more advanced video modes, better audio, DSP for math crunching.
In the hands of a knowledgeable coder the 56001 DSP. Can significantly improve performance for Atari Falcon 030 on some tasks. Excellent video!
Kleiner Spaß😉: kzhead.info/sun/h5GanLSDgWKOY2w/bejne.html
Possibly more mature than Rez, picks up Master System controller...FF7 model author... Faceball 2000 author, Wolf3D author, Tron author. Thxom #_#
Maybe up scale it with AI.
Nothing different that an Amiga A1000 can not do.
Sure, an Amiga A1000 can do that? That was in 24bit true colour, playing 44khz mp3 quality sound decoded in real time. And of course all the texture mapped 3D going on at the same time... yeah, yeah. Course an a1000 can do that ;) Even a 100mhz 486 PC would struggle. Would probably need a Pentium.
@@Storm_.this guy is obviously incompetent or insane, maybe bothz. Or just this empty head die hard Amiga fan that really don’t know a thing about computer while trying to pretend to be a computer wiz
@@Storm_.I agree except the part of the 486 PC, which can run Doom and looks miles better.
Amiga fan and always will be, but the Falcon blee the A1200 out the water specs wise.
Good, but slow
