Mike Musto's 1968 Charger 440ci Big Block Hits Westech's Chassis Dyno! How Much Power Will it Make?
Mike Musto’s 1968 Dodge Charger is a driver, but is there more power and driveability locked inside its 440ci V8 powerplant? Mike drove the ride over 500 miles from San Francisco to the hallowed, horsepower-filled halls of Westech Performance where dyno expert, Steve Brulé, strapped it onto the rollers to find out.

Great to see Brule out in the world! I thought frieburger and dulcich leave him locked up in that dyno cell!😂
😅
😂😂😂
I Love Mike's 68 and 69 Chargers as they both have the special unique characters. I hope he shows the 69 soon with all its upgrades.
Yup - soon.
Much love to the legendary Brule. Pretty cool 👍
He's pretty inspiring, that's for sure
Love Mike's Charger - ever since I saw it on Bull Run. Just so tastefully done - color, wheels and stance, the tail stripe, the '68 tail lamps, etc.,etc.
great job guys! nice to see the carburetor whisperer Steve Brule lend a hand
Awesome. Keeping carbs alive!!!
My first car was the 69 Dodge Charger.
Glad to see you're taking care of her Mike. I watched the first season of Bullrun over and over as a kid and Team 1 was always my favorite. You guys drove this beast exactly how you should've.🔥
Your dream car is beautiful, enjoy it, you deserve it Mr. Musto! 🤝
Thank you!
Having grown up when no new cars ever came with a carb (born in ‘93), I have always been amazed by old school tuners like Brule! I’ve been trying to learn all I can, and I have promised myself to keep a carb on my ‘71 Cutlass
Awesome and keep learning - we need you!
Mr Brule is correct (no surprise) that car looks like a fresh build! The car is absolutely stunning! And a little tweaking to add 30 ft/lbs of torque? Time well spent. Thank you as always, love to see more on this, I've kinda missed it. ~ Chuck
Thanks Chuck! And there's more to come so don't worry!
thanks Mike !!!!! You just did what I've been doing for 23 years . drives my wife to distraction but I'm not giving up.
NEVER SURRENDER!
Great to see some Musto-Charger content! My take away from it is that I shouldn't feel bad that I'm 12 years into my '70 Torino and it still isn't quite "there" yet. :P But it runs and drives, and that's what matters :D
Nope - they all take time - just make sure you hang onto it!
Nice to see mike, havent seen hìm since the series he used to make ended.
And it's coming back so stay tuned!
Carb's still rule... Over 150yrs of tech into them. Vacuum sec rules also. The engine wants what the engine wants. Not what you want.... Many great carb builders out there however AED is the best.
Good to see Angry out and about🤘
The goal is 10k miles this year!
Bring on more content!
Working on it Sir.
Love it!!!
What a great team-up video! Two of my favorites!
Thank you!
Love it , inspirational
Ah, yes, my dream car. Can't agree with the wheels, though.
Love it Mike!
Thanks Carl!
With the standard loss of 20% through the drivetrain (sometimes a bit higher) the ENGINE would be making around 332 with all your accessories. I like tuning with both numbers, but that's just me 🔧
Mister Angry personified
So, for that oil leak from the valve cover, did you replace the pcv valve with a breather?
Yessir - we had one on the car but Steve was kind enough to replace it with and NOS piece.
Mike, do you still have the Daytona?
Yessir - you'll be seeing it soon - it's almost done.
Vacuum or mechanical advance on the distributor ? Which is better? 🤔
Great question. The 800 is vacuum.
Mike, No side marker lights? THATS GOOD FOR @% EXTRA HP!
Nah - no drip rails either 😉
I bet tuning my carb will have him lay an egg..I'm lucky if a get 8 miles to the gallon.
