My biggest challenge yet, beating Spore as the smallest organism possible. Will the ants grow to conquer the planet? Or will they be squished by a big boot? Find out here.

I like how all of the sudden everyone in the comments have studied ants to prove their point
i already know a lot about ants and other bugs and animals
Its not that we just all of the suden know abt ants most of us have studied about ants before this video
Tbf, ants are everywhere. I already knew most ants are omnivorous because I keep finding them in my kitchen.
A lot of followers of antscanada, kurzgesagt or tierzoo.
The only reason i clicked on this video is because im so interested in ants and I've learned a lot about them
You missed the opportunity to call the world “my kitchen floor” because that’s where they always seem to end up

Most, maybe even all ants, are actually omnivorous! It's why they get into your home and invade. They want to eat all the food in it. Ants usually love sweet food. Most hymenopterans in general seem to be omnivorous.
But they are my tuna 😢
most insects like sweet foods, like bees, which are probably the most important insect, like sweet foods.
@@Greatduck777 this is true in a way you wouldn’t expect. Insects actually sense how healthy plants are and eat fermenting/dying plants because they are easier to digest. Very much like a carnivore, they eat what is most easily digestible. The evidence supporting this is that carnivores eat the stomach first because the food there has already begun to be broken down. Some animals like a cow don’t require the need for easily digestible food because of how many stomachs they have and the gut bacteria that is able to break down the complex grasses. TL:DR insects don’t eat healthy plants because they are too difficult to digest.
@@Creator_Veeto_PAEACP even with how much I like insects, I had no idea about this, thanks for sharing this interesting knowledge.
Don't they grow a mushroom and eat that? Or is that just a few species?
you actually don't need to give your creature arms for tribal stage - they will hold tools in their mouths (which makes cutscenes hilarious)

Genuinely surprised they have not made a new spore. I still play this on occasion, and remember buying it when it first came out on disc a decade or so ago. Great game, very fun.
It was considered a massive disappointment when it was made, but if you were oblivious to the hype (as I was as a kid) it was a wonderful game.
@@rachelmayes3064 I was oblivious, I bought it when it first came out, only because I happened across it. Had not heard about it previously, and went into it with 0 expectations.
I bought it on sale for 4 bucks like a year ago because of all these KZheadrs covering it.
Dark spore exists. But to be honest if you knew anything about the guy behind spore it's not surprising.
Last I knew of I think they are currently making a second one
It seems like you got bigger during the creature stage even though you never wanted to, very interesting that a bigger brain forces a bigger body lol
In some ways it makes sense, except in real life you could just make your SKULL bigger and not everything else haha, unless you are growing a SIGNIFICANTLY bigger brain. If a mouse wanted a brain as big as a human they'd have to get quite a lot bigger to accommodate it. But then if you just want your brain to get a bit bigger then you just end up with a balloon head like humans have.

One of my favorite strategies for the creature stage is to ally with rogue creatures and make them pack members. With their 250 hp, they are excellent frontline fighters. And they're usually decked out with all the finest social "gear." Because they travel alone, it is much easier to befriend them and then add them to your pack. But my favorite part is that you can take them with you to the tribal stage. If they're still alive and still pack members, they will appear in the little corral/paddock as domesticated animals! I like to send off the tribe members to hunt and/or gather and have the chief gather eggs from the paddock. The best part is that when you are attacked, by other tribes or possibly wild animals, the domesticated rogue creatures will help you defend you land. They also retain their 250 health. In fact, for those of you who might not be aware yet, ANY pack members that weren't your species that were still alive when you evolved will be in the paddock as domesticated animals. You can gather eggs from them as well. If they aren't rogues, their health won't be even close to those tank powerhouses.
4:37 you were right the first time. The abdomen is the back segment of insects, the thorax is is in thr middle, and then there's the head. The abdomen only appears to be in "the middle" of humans because we stand upright, but since insects (and everybody else) stand horizontally, theirs is at the back.
I thought he was right before i looked it up soo close 😧 at least he got the names right
actually in their younger stages they (ants) are partially transparent and the cell stage could be considered the young stage
Larval or or pupal stage?
Pupal stage think
Fun fact fire ants are not poisonous but instead have stingers
Most ants aren't poisonous, they're usually fully edible except for the stinger
fire ants do have toxins injected by the stinger though. a toxic alkaloid venom called solenopsin.
@user-ug2gf7yy2t he's still technically correct, but i think it's by accident lmao. They're venomous, not poisonous.
Yeah ants usually aren't poisonous
If you eat it and die it's poisonous if it bites you and you die it's venomous, somehow very confusing
I believe antlions are lacewing larva? Something like that. Bassically they start life with max stats (as antlions) and lose everything to be able to fly and mate... then die.
Antlions are Antlions, they’re their own thing.
Fun fact- Queen ants actually have the wings. They get the wings fly and mate then they shed their wings and go burrow deep somewhere they feel safe and then have their babies/army and you'll never see them again unless you dig them up.
Both queens and males, only workers don't because they don't need to,why waste energy on something you don't need
@@avasuikatodoroki7061 Both of these are false. The drones on their own don't have wings. Those are elates. The queens lose their wings when they go from elate to queen, and the male elates die after breeding.
@@fullmoonshadow6967 i got that from Google, but thanks for the info

I like how spore is so old but everyone keeps playing it since its so fun XD
Other old games still get traction too, but spore doesn’t get updates. Spore is still chad
The fire ant picture was a weaver ant and while fire ants are omnivorous the weaver ants are truly carnivores
No they aren’t. Almost all ants eat both protein food and carbohydrates in the case of most ants they get the protein from meat and insects and feed that their brood and they get their carbohydrates from sugary things. Weaver ants as example will farm aphids to get their honeydew. Almost no ant is purely carnivorous the only one I know of that just hunts are Dracula ants. They feast on the blood of their brood and the brood only needs protein so they only collect protein.
@@mr.azarian6551 Yes, and weaver ants are very fascinating, the way they build their colonies is amazing.
@@Greatduck777 what I find even more fascinating is the way they build their nests and defend the tree it is on
Next try to beat spore as an ant of medium size
The majority of ants are actually omnivores and have a farm of fungus that they use to feed the colony they also capture, kill, or scavenge other insects that they also eat
Just the leaf cutters farm fungus. Which is what they use the leaf for.
Leafcutters farm fungus, a large amount of ants harvest seeds, most if not all ants feed on sweets (which range from honeydew from aphids and other sap-driking bugs to plant produced sweets as well as honey) and on top of that ants will eat meat and other bugs, of course.
They also farm aphids for their honeydew
4:43 I think you were right on the first one, the back part is called the abdomen and the middle is the thorax. At least, I’m pretty sure lol. I am notorious for mishearing things and I learnt that fact many many years ago so I very well could have misheard. I always second guess myself XD
@great gamer 472 ah, so I have been wrong my whole life XD
Nope, actually the middle IS the thorax (usually the body part that contains the legs and wings of the insect), while the back part is the abdomen (usually containing the digestive and reproductive organs of the insect). You can also see this in arachnids; they do not have the middle body part: they only have a head and a thorax (which in this case also contains the heart)
@@nestoramadorfebles3586 arachnids have a cephalothorax and an abdomen

Btw, the thorax is the middle part, the abdomen is the big bulbous butt. Now although fire ants are venomous with stingers, some ants can expel acid to attack so the poison thing can still be considered accurate. And I have never heard of a ant that can produce electricity like an electric eel.
Your ruthless aggression is very satisfying...and Antlike. heh.

as the boyfriend of an aspiring entomologist, antlions are not ants, they are a close relative to the lacewing and mantis fly
A lot of ants spray formic acid! :D They can also inject it with stingers, which they have on their buts! They need both protein and sugars to make healthy colonies, therefore they're omnivores.

4:46 one more correction: the thorax is the area of any insect’s middle part, in flying insects/ants such as the alates or drones, they have extended thoraxes to fit the flight muscles. The abdomen is the tail part.
I remember when I made a herbivore that was just tall enough to simply grab the fruit trees, however I forgot how to do that as I done it once many years ago but it is possible and not that simple.

"Trying to think of a pun here..." Me: "ANTCESTOR! ANTCEST- ...fuck it."
ant-man rules the multiverse.
Bro the universal antcestor
The thorax is the “connector” to the first and third parts of an ants body, like spiders, ants have enlarged abdominal pieces to their genetics which allow them to attract mates and identify themselves among each other
I find ants actually quite beautiful when compared to other insects. When you see other beautiful insects under a microscope they become nightmare fuel, not ants.
Ants are actually omnivores (but they just like meat)
Most*
Ants also have 6 legs, if we are talking about details
I like animal facts and I see a ton of people sharing their ant loving facts, so I’ll join the discussion. Fire ants are crazy smart, they’ve been known to link their legs together during floods to form rafts, and they carry the babies and Queen on their raft. Nothing is more disturbing than seeing a large, floating pile of live Fire ants. Can tell you from experience, their sting hurts. Some ants have been known to farm Aphids. They guard the aphids from predators and in exchange the aphids produce a sugary substance that feeds the ants. Ants carry their dead to an ant graveyard. The ants recognize dead ants by scent, and the chemical cue that produces this scent is made by Oleic acid: a common ingredient in some cereals like Trix. Ants get very confused by Oleic acid and in one experiment, a live ant was made to smell like this chemical. This ant willingly went to the graveyard and stayed, until the scent wore off. Speaking of scent, most ants recognize each other from scent. Many ants have poor eyesight, which some crazy species take advantage of. One example is the large blue Caterpillar, which tricks the ants into taking care of it as brood parasite.
