  • I swear I was at Portillo’s on Canal Street, recognized him from playing against him & Amari in a Chicago tournament. The brother remembered, said he was hungry so I took care of him. This was today & I googled him to see if it was really him.

  • I was his room mate in the Group Home. My bro has children by his sister. Bottom line is he had a lot of people who were around him when he became a professional basketball player he should not had around him. He was focus on a girl in Chicago instead of staying focus on basketball in Dallas. I could go much deeper than that but that is my brother's story to tell.

    • I was on staff at ESC on Montrose when he was there. He was fine until he got there. Ulich house. He has a great heart- as you said wrong people around him and the girl from Marshall. Some of my best friends coached him at King. He was OK there and at SUllivan House. I pray for him. He is a good dude. Was a great kid. Goofy- 6'4 at 12

    • I remember when he and left the group home. He went to play professional in Dallas I went to College Oklahoma . Which I told him I would be in the next state. Then I remember he snaped on the Basketball coach at the time which was Don Nelson. He also went up to Chicago get in trouble busting his girlfriends (From Marshall)a car window with a gun. He actually just called me Yesterday. The week before that too. He was out in 100th now he is downtown. I am aware of his mental issues as well that played a part of his downfall. We both graduated from the same grammar school. I requested for him to come to the group home I was at and the Director went to grab Leon from the Shelter I have known him for a very long time. @@neiajones2977

  • I remember see and hearing about this kid who attended King high school. King was "KING" in Chicago high school basketball. Very unfortunate that his mental illness was not address long before he reached the NBA. Stay Chicago strong Leon Smith.
