That's not an attempt at reforming him, it is taking the best years of his life in return for having shot this woman. I'm not here to dispute if that is a good or a bad thing, those are merely the facts. An attempt at reform would direct him to undertake a mandatory program of reform and demonstrate that he was making changes to his life, sentencing him to whatever confinement would permit him to undertake this and nothing else in his life until complete. You do not reform people by sending them to prisons full of the worst types. If he had fallen in with the wrong crowd before, he will now be exclusively in the company of bad people. Whether that's what he needs or not is not for me to judge. I don't know anything about it.

  • Need these kinds of sentences in Canada. Just the other day a man killed his 30-year-old wife, the couple’s six-year-old daughter, four-year-old son and two-month-old daughter, as well as the wife’s 17-year-old niece. Unimaginable tragedy. My heart goes out to the victims and their family. 💐

    • lol that was abolished when the democrats and liberals took office. The criminals are the victims now. This country needs Trump or someone like him more than any of us know

    • People from the US have forgotten that prison is there to rehabilitate people and not to lock them away for ever and keep paying their life with your tax money. Your prison system is utter garbage when simply looking at statistical numbers and compare them to other western countries. Your criminal rates are comparable with under developed countries. Prisons are even partly private in the US, so that people literally make money by keeping the prison full. It's ridiculous when you think about it.

    • because in Texas, attempted murder and aggravated assault aren't capital offenses. That only happens when the victim is killed during the course of a crime.

      @vxy357@vxy3573 ай бұрын
    • Well, let's see: it doesn't actually deter murders, for one. It is extremely costly to try and to battle on appeal and costly to warehouse people on death row, for two. It's barbaric for the state to take a life, for three. It can't be undone when there is a wrongful conviction, for four. I'm sure there's more but this is the KZhead comments section for a news video so nevermind.
