"That was used throughout a very dark time in Russia's history." Bruh which one
I dunno rly... I guess it's ok, when millions of naive soviet people gets in turmoil of turned upside down values, bloody mess conflicts, amnestied bandits and impotent and degenerative government, that cared only about selling goverment property abroad... 10\10, would be glad to live through that shitshow again

@@Sergey-uj6mr It was a joke
just the one, they are yet to emerge from it but ill let you know when they do
It’s still going on lol.
It pains me to see some of these almost unicorn tier helmets tested, but it’s what it meant to do.
They're not as rare as people think!
@@Oxide_does_his_best I think it's just because of Russian export law (right?), in reality they probably made thousands upon thousands (much like with the mosin) so it's only unicorn dust outside of Russia, and even in Europe (idk about USA) they're not "rare" as in, you can find them for sale relatively regularly on places like Demych gear bakery, it's not like with finding .280/30 British cartridges or Green bakelite AK furniture etc where you have to look for years sometimes.
@@Kav. Yeah it is risky to get them, but only for the smuggler, and there are lots of those
@@Oxide_does_his_best it's sad to see that some historians complain about trstint these helmets while you can see whole MVD units wearing them
Also it is a maska it's what it deserves.
I’d like to point out that the helmet was meant to protect you at distances more than 10-20 meters. Shooting 5.45 point blank will do nasty things to armor vests designed to protect against it. So that helmet can save your life (it did irl, they wouldn’t have used it for so long otherwise) when the shooter is 50-100 m away from you.
I'd like to see more shots that aren't between the eyes. Give the impact some angles and i'm sure there'll be more ricochets too.
If you say so he was testing the game one tho and how they said it would protect you point blank
@@rexquite5547 in the game you get ricochet if the bullet hits a certain angle, also in the game you can kill someone with that mask point blank face shot with 5.45 5.56 and 7.62 x 39 if it’s a direct hit.
@@gloadrian3591 was about to say the same thing specially now days tarkovs ballistics are relaly well done and alot more complex than just off appreaance. The maska can be easily one tapped even with a pistol in game with a stupidly small percentage basicly being 0 and can also be really tanky. All rng and luck from angles your being shot at

I love the Maska just because it looks like the logical evolution from the slit visor helms of the middle ages, making it look older than it actually is
We did that a lot, like with the budenovka. It's a nice aesthetic.
mix between tank turret and split visor helmet :)
both the brodie helm and the picket/stalhelm are inspired by medieval designs too

50+ years past the make-believe, fake, horrible Moon landing stage-show... Up to now 2022, and past end of all time ever after... NASA (Not A Space Administration) can't ever "return/land to the Moon", for ever at all, because the Moon has no solid material to land on, the Moon is made of a plasma that shines/gives a cooling-light! Flat-out Real Truth: NASA is simply Not-A-Space-Agency!!!!! It's clearly, absolutely impossible for all: fluids, dust/ash/powder substances, material-scraps, fibers, and other solid-matter objects (that will always absolutely rest dead-still on either a stationary object, or an object traveling constant, steady speed in an entirely perfectly-straight and perfectly-smooth path) to always rest perfectly, absolutely, dead-still/motion-less on a rotating/ spinning and/or swinging/orbiting object of any shape (including the non-existent, allegedly "ovaloid/ellipsoidal shaped, cgi produced, make-believe floating ball/planet 🌍/🌎) ! The World (our flat circular "Universe") is N🚫T a traveling b🌎ll levitating/floating in a non-existent, make-believe, made-up, deception of the vacuum of "outer-space" !!!

Spetznaz Episode V: The Maska Strikes Back
"It's fair to say that hundreds of bandits, organized criminals, and Chechens all met their end staring at a man who was looking back at them through the Maska's visor slit. The reality of the suffering world that the Maska was used in represents something that I think is much more interesting on it's own than the helmets resurrection in current media." You should be a writer, that was beautifully worded.
Really loving the flow of these test. Also just picked up a 1:1 scale replica airsoft AKM
I think one of the reasons that the MASKA deflects the 5.7 rather than just stopping it like the K6-3 is because of the difference between steel and titanium. Steel, when used in armor, generally is better at dispersing and deflecting force, but titanium is more durable and lighter.
It depends on the type of steel. Hardened Steel is absolute balls compared to mild steel or high carbon steel
@@Kriegter I cant tell if this is positive or negative.

"Repainted with what looks like tanker paint." PAINT IS PAINT
Good old fashioned Olive Drab Gloss, like what General's Jeeps/Staff Cars were painted with from the 30's to the 60's.
tank paint has some funny property's like thermal diffusion and its sleeting values mate. same as say ship paint with its non fouling chemicals. paint is not just paint try painting you bed room with hummerite and enjoy waking up each morning to dripping condensation.
@@tommyfred6180 that stuff would be prohibitively expensive.
@@tommyfred6180 Paint is paint.

when one of the most elite Russian operators in the world is running around with a LMG from right after WW2 and a helmet from the 90's that's when you know the Spetsnaz has money problems
I mean, he is a hipster
I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Pretty neat helmet design. The history behind these things is really interesting.
Nice one. Thanks for the video.
Chechen Wars were truly some horrid times but I can’t help but be enamored by the unique and cool gear of the era
surprised how much the steel shattered away on the 5.45, really puts the power of a rifle on display. Can't wait for the next one.
And it’s just AKS74U. I bet standard, full-length 74 would be able to do even more damage
lol
Not even remotely surprised, class 2 helmet is rated to stop nothing larger than a 7.62x25mm tokarev round. Using rifle caliber rounds to shoot at one is A: Dangerous as fuck, and B: just plain asinine.
Sawyer Aubrey oh for sure, I was more surprised about how the steel reacted to the round impact. I would have thought it would deform more rather than shatter away.
this is amazing stuff, really can help game Devs to better understand armor.. some super high quality ballistic tests, thank you for all the hard work and effort that went into this
it is not helpful at all, if you want to play realistic shooter then go to arma and other shit (I don't mean that these games are bad), but for the most all want to play a game (not reality, because reality is boring), arcade shooters are meant to be fun and create new mechanic rules, tactics and approach (in example get rid off camping, god i hate campers and games were you just need to sit for 4 hours to be alive)
@@vinebird7826 yeah Im aware of that that some shooters are mixing and EFT I would personally call a "realistic looter" shooter as it has azart (gambling or exciting chance when you can lose all or win, just like real life) and mixing with arcade and reality is what makes this game interesting (at least from my point of view)
Tachanka be like "My work is not done yet!"
Yes it isn't
These videos are so much more professional than any one of the "shooting the real pubg helmet" it almost hurts
I hate these pubg fanboys who go “OMG GUYS IS THE GUY/HELMET FROM PUBG!!1!”
Wow, that ricochet was crazy. 👀
I like that you gave the little history lesson on the helmet, it doesn't seem like a lot but I'm glad someone recognizes the emotion from the helmet, I guess thats the only way i can explain it.
dude I immediately recognized that music at 3:06 and onward, I listen to haircuts for men so much LOL such a weirdly named artist, but so good. really cool video as well. gave me S.T.A.L.K.E.R. shadow of Chernobyl vibes lol

If you took a shot in this helmet while wearing it you would instantly get tinnitus.
Better to lose your hearing than to lose your head.
And a massive headache.
if you shoot the gun shooting the helmet you get tinnitus too so

You would think that if you stopped a bullet with the bones in your head you would be visibly concerned. Not this guy tho, Savage. hope he didn't get a blood clot or anything after the fact
Awesome video, can't wait to see what the other babies can do. Also the steel visor caracking after that 5,45 it looked mean at the begining and now, it looks straight up brutal. Enjouying the content a lot so thanks.
5:01 those spark that got ignited mid-air and then start to launched itself is so cool
I did not expect to hear haircuts for men in this, but I recognized it the instant it came on. God bless.
I'm worried one of these rounds are gonna end up ricocheting and hitting him
Yeah me too hopefully he can get a ballistic shield like the one from Mythbusters
might have happened lol. i bet
sorry i read it wrong. I meant to say probably a chechen rebel tried shooting a dude with that mask and got hit by his own bullet.
Would be a good idea to throw a plate carrier on too. Maybe build a temporary wall out of concrete block waist high to protect the legs
Pretty careless testing tbh. He needs to angle the objects he's shooting at so the ricochets deflect away from him. And it would be a good idea to hide behind a berm.
In these hard times I really need these videos. Thanks for the great content @Oxide
Excellent video!
Pretty video, спасибо 💜
It truly would be terrifying to fight against a squad of people with these it gives more intimidation then protection
Intimidation through gore is best intimidation.
@novichock tea You can’t die from being shot in the legs 37 times, can you?
@Varangian Guard this isn't tarkov
@Varangian Guard no, i just pointed out that this isn't tarkov, soldiers are trained to aim in the chest because its easier and more lethal
Previous test: Oxide risks taking flak from militaria collectors. Today's test: Oxide risks ricochet from clearly possessed helmet.
Excellent testing ❤
Great vid, subbed.
Yeah... ima have to get one of those gondolas
Ballistic coverings that hide up the entire face like these always creep me out, but like in a cool way.
So its an intimidation type deal?
It's just like a medieval helmet... Tho late medieval armors were made to deflect arrows, and in the renaissance even bullets. Modern armor designers should use medieval technology to improve performances and optimization
@Guy Panzerboss so thats why people bitch about riot cop armor 😂
@Sid the Kid Very false information. I assume you are talking about riots, and the only cops who beat children and rape little girls are in third world countries. Feel free to do some research outside of CNN for once :)
@Sid the Kid lmao "peaceful" protets.....thats funny! In Portland, the cops actually need to grow balls and shut down those antifa cowards
Awesome vid!
this guy always got banger soundtracks in his vids. heard squad track on another video and HCM got me on catjam mode in this one
In Tarkov the AP rounds also go through the helmet on their first or second shot. The 5.45 with Igolnik 7n39 goes right through while the 7.62 BP rakes 1-2 shots but on the second will have pretty much destroyed the helmet

@@venanciochaves1103 So it requires a special AP round to do the job? Makes sense-ish balancing wise but I can understand why Oxide might think otherwise
Well i dont know if any helemet can stop snb or m61 so they probably take a cool helemet and give it those stats
guys you need to undestand that a game need to be "playable". Tarkov is realistc, but not like in real life , imagine you buy a altyn and got instant kill by a s190 five seven, or a 5.45 non AP ammo (game need to be playable, need to be fun, need to be enjoyable)

Great vid👍
Is there a second generation visor that has the thicker steel portion around the vision slot like on Tachanka or Killa?
Tachanka immune to pistol headshots confirmed
I really liked how you talked about the history a bit before getting into the test.
At 6:06, although the 5.45 round penetrated the mask, it hit a section where the mask and helmet overlapped, and it seems that it did not get through the helmet part, so it seems that a Maska can stop a rifle round in the unlikely occurrence that the bullet hits where two plates overlap.
finally found someone testing a proper MASKA, such satisfyingly editing 2 lmao
Wins competition, Gets sent a bike helmet with bullet holes.
Have an old one myself. Nostalgia made me keep it.
so no one gonna talk about how this man almost just had a ricochet battle with the helmet?
Man that 5.45X39 shot into the visor was a head and eyes moment
Destroying helmets popularize by games is entertaining.
The music selection is 10 out of 10. The video warms my heart from the level of detail, especially in the beginning.
i love how this channel is no bs
notice how when the 2nd ak shot, the one which hit the mask portion, went through the mask, it hit it in a place where there was helmet behind it. And that part of the helmet was slightly dented. So it went through the mask, and was blocked by the helmet.
You know I never went looking for this video, but I'm glad it exist and has given me some knowledge on this helmet. It's a wonder how some of this stuff exists and how it can be used against a variety of odds.
