I once spent, if I recall correctly, 3 full hours trying to farm for a tactical shotgun because there was only a single hallway in the entirety of the dungeon which had appropriate background walls for tactical skeletons to spawn.
I usually had the exact opposite scenario. Out of probably 6 or so worlds, I never was able to find more than a dozen total diabolists. (Trying to find them naturally, I didn’t change the dungeon layout tbf)

4:51 you can tell from his mouse movement that he truly, unequivocally, is not kidding. Despite this whole video being impressive (at least to my middling skill level lol), just watching the correct BoC be immediately picked out is the most impressive thing to me for whatever reason.
The crazy thing is that when the tactical shotgun was introduced the devs accidentally made it a bow in code so, for a few weeks after its release, the archer potion worked on it.

I kinda agree with you about the shield of cuthulu. It's better to use lightning boots in pre-hardmode when you can't really fly, and when you get wings use the shield.

Similar to your mimic farm, you could make horizontal tunnels bellow the Plantera arena to farm Life Fruit and Plantera's Bulb.

wait what he doesnt use the shield? doubt youll see this comment but being able to go to maximum acceleration is really helpful, especially for dodging attacks. think of it like rolling in elden ring, it gives s which can cheese many bosses if you know how to use it
He does use the sheild just not for challenge videos where he can only use certain weapons since it technically is melee damage

When I read the title, I thought "Shotguns are good, how hard can this be compared to other regarded challenges I've seen on this channel". I did not expect to see such a violent display of being tortured by the RNG. I guess finding that boomstick early is exactly where all luck ended.

Terraria is one of the few video games I play and I am glad that there is such great content about it like this. 👍 keep going you make great content! Edit: if you are really up for it or you just hate yourself (im not sure if you can do this i didnt do the research but, if you can't give yourself the shield of cathulu at the start) maybe do Accessorie damage only like sheild of cathulu, bone helm ect.
Something I surprisingly never realized until now is that storm divers use exclusively shotgun type weapons, but neither of the vortex pillar weapons are shotguns. Funny

I dont think a lot of people know, with the solar pillar, if the stay on the ground, the worms dont target you and they kinda just fly around. But the second you go in the air they target you like no tomorrow.

For some reason, there are a couple of OP pre-mech weapons (Onyx blaster, spirit flame and flairon come to mind) that shred down plantera & golem and even deal decent damage to Cultist and Moon Lord
Dunno if I'd count flairon there, because even though you can technically beat Duke pre-mech, the difficulty/health isn't scaled for that part of the game. The Empress of Light has an identical defense stat and only about 25% more health. Plantera has _half_ of Duke's health and less than 3/4 of the defense, with much easier attacks to dodge. And even though their defense stats change in the second phase of each fight, Empress's defense is 1.5x Duke's, while Duke's is 4x Plantera's. Yeah, you can fight it, but IMO that's like saying something along the lines of "Wall of Flesh drops some great items even though you can fight it before the Eye of Cthulhu!". Of course, you can, but why?

You really should always get High Velocity Bullets from the Steampunker after the 1st Mech boss in every gun run, they pierce up to 3 targets, works really well on Prime, Destroyer, Plantera and Golem. and Cursed Inferno bullets are the best dps bullets in early HM, so gun runs are better in corruption worlds, also Nano Bullets are really good post Plantera. as for WoF and Quad-Barrel shotguns, using Meteorite Bullets with it is really good, cince therew piercing or bounce from the top of bottom of hell.
Unintentional challenge completed: beat all pre hard mode bosses without handheld summoning items
Combat shotgun and nano bullets is a really good combo for golem
2 shark tooth necklaces (one is the bee version) is op with the boomstick/quad

23:50 something that i do to avoid really annoying projectiles / enemies is using water walking boots standing on honey with bubbles to surround it
For using guns against master mode WoF Meteor Bullets are the saviours. The pierce allows you to decimate the hungry _and_ deal consistent damage to the boss.

If i had to say one thing about the brain of cuthulu fight, the real one spawns in like a couple frames before the fake ones do so you might be subconsciously seeing that

Your movement helps you tell wich brain is reall based on relativity, say it was in the bottom right and i move up, than all of the brains would move away, samw with going left, but if it would be in the top left and you loved toward it, all of the brains would be closer to you

I do that with the Lunatic Cultist. I just guess the correct one almost all of the time. Though I guess that it's easier as there are fewer copies.
