@ai-melons8 ай бұрын
Depends on species, releasing native rodents is fine, they’ll become food for a predator or repopulate (more food xD) Invasive ones need to be euthanized or kept as pets. This video confused me at the end since to my knowledge the guy looks like a house mouse. Bad to release. Indoor cats are good for catching, but also important to note they shouldn’t go outdoors.
@oliveman90657 ай бұрын
A lot of people think they're better because they don't kill the mouse. But it is FAR more humane to buy a kill trap that instantly snaps their neck. Glue traps can 1) cause the animal to die slowly from starvation, 2) catch the animal temporarily and cause it severe harm when it frees itself and 3) catch other animals that predate the pest you're trying to catch, like spiders and lizards (for bugs) and snakes (for rodents)

My mom had been using glue traps for snakes and roaches since she hates those. Unfortunately and fortunately, a beautiful blue lizard got caught in the trap which changed her mind. That day I used oil to try and free the lizard, it was one of those little striped skinks. They bite hard! I think I did my best to free it from the glue, it had two fingers stuck together when it ran away, it had slipped out of my hands. I'm glad it changed my mom's mind about glue traps, because it really is a cruel way to deal with creatures. Also, I think the lizard made it out alright, because we've suddenly seen a lot more this year along the walls of our house outside. They're thriving :)

There are better ways of getting rid of pests, even if the end goal is to kill. If you plan on killing it, make it a quick death. Don't make it suffer for longer than it needs to.
Conventional mouse traps do exactly that. Quick and not so painful death.
Exactly 👏🏻
I say this a lot but please make sure sticky is a native species if you want to release him

Oh wow, props to the young man that found the mouse - upon seeing his mom deceased he still had the care to see this little creature and make sure it was put in good hands. I know most people wouldn’t even bat an eyelash at the mouse in such a situation. And of course props to you for rehabilitating the little baby ❤️
Im sure the prospect of death was sensitive to him in that moment that he didnt want to let anything else lose their life. That must have been devastating.
I thought maybe she was talking about the mouse's deceased mother?
I think the mouse's mother was dead? Idk it's worded weirdly.
What are y'all gonna do when New York gets over run with mice/rats? 😂
@@margareeta1369It was the mouse's mom, the part 1 on tiktok said so.
Releasing him might not be the best for him, losing his mother means he probably doesn't know how to forage or what to eat when he does forage... Plus he's going to have lost his fear of humans, and will likely ask a human for food when he gets hungry, but other humans are likely to squish him...
Right? I was thinking the exact same thing
I have never met anyone that wanted to squish a mouse-
@@Chuuyanakahara701 you're very fortunate. I've seen many a squished mouse. My biological father, co-workers when I worked construction, my brother in law, LOTS of people on Bourbon Street, where I am a street performer, and there are loads of rats and mice in the French Quarter, and even some people I was hanging out with in high school for a short time. saving pests like that create problems and needs extreme measures to prevent every problem that comes with them. i agree the sticky traps and all are very cruel. my advise is to get a cat or two and you’re good 👍🏻
Depends on species, releasing native rodents is fine, they’ll become food for a predator or repopulate (more food xD) Invasive ones need to be euthanized or kept as pets. This video confused me at the end since to my knowledge the guy looks like a house mouse. Bad to release. Indoor cats are good for catching, but also important to note they shouldn’t go outdoors.
I agree
That's if you don't check your traps if i set any up i check them and when i do find that a mouse got caught i take a boot and end it before it can feel pain
Why don't people just use metal traps that capture the mice and you can release in the morning , sticky traps and snapping traps are highly inhumane.
@@asimnegi5078 because not everyone wants to have to drive a mile or 2 away everytime that they catch a mouse just to release it also some traps like the ones you mentioned Usually catch multiple mice and it result in them eating eachother alive due to lack of space which could be argued to be even less humane
They always kill though? Because they're permanently stuck and die of starvation and dehydration and tearing themselves apart Normally even if you wanted to you can't get them off without killing them
Now teach him how to cook so that Netflix can make a show about it
i wouldn't free him. if he didn't live in the wild, he doesn't have the skills to survive in the wild. keep him, he will make a great pet
she has many mice already as pets and he might get hurt in the wild but keeping a wild mouse is not good because it was not domesticated

Let a few of those lizards in & you'll never have another roach.
Thank you so much!!! Glue traps are so awful and gruesome they should be illegal. You’re doing good work ❤️❤️
Something like this happened to me as well. I had a baby chick that had splayed legs. I used a sports tape that seemed to work right until I put it on the chick. Thank God for the idea of using olive oil. I would have never known to use this. 100 percent right!
Mice are invasive so a lot of people use sticky traps.. I personally think mice are gross but hey if you want to save them go ahead.
Glue trap users: please know that when a baby is stuck it’s mother comes to it to either die with it or get it unstuck and it’s almost always the first option. It’s insanely inhumane and I would explore other options
It isn't inhumane if people would like to get pests out

This is something I wish I could do as well, but a lot of mice carry sicknesses where I live and it can be harmful to humans this way.. I work in a bakery and sadly it’s not that rare seeing mice traps like this. What’s more sad is that around here there are not much other options in traps that also work
Thank you for saving this cute baby❤
I found a bird outside my house stuck in one of these i put Dawn in some warm water and its worked like magic! I certainly hope your lil pal is doing well 🐁💕
I love the have a heart traps! Also when using baits or traps for insects I found ones that are safe for all except bugs. Our pest control guy gave us these pheromone based enclosed sticky traps where the opening is only big enough for insects to travel through which gives me peace of mind I won’t harm a little mouse or small animal.
We used a glue trap for a mouse in our apartment. We were worried about it harming our pet parakeets by bringing in disease. It also go into one of their bags of food and was shredding the stuffing under one of the couch recliners. My grandma found the mouse on the trap dead while we were away on vacation. I still feel so guilty. But there are so many critters around our apartment that would love a mouse as a snack so it would’ve perished either way. RIP mousey
Imagine if aliens found a small baby human in a trash can and named it trash, or like found a baby on a doorstep and named it door
Idk... Thats kinda funny Doorstep! Dinner is ready! Trash!! Do the dishes now!
I think there’s a valid case to be made for both humane kill traps and live traps. Glue traps are sociopathic.

I agree with OP here. We finally got a cat because of how bad it got when they were cutting the field next to us. Snap and stick traps are way better than poison btw. They become lethargic and suffer because they can't get enough water. not to mention the fact that they die in random spots and sometimes you can't get to their bodies. It’s just straight-up torture! A lot of people in the comments don’t seem to understand that or just don’t care. A glue trap is certainly not more effective than any other kill trap. It just tortures the animal before it dies. This. Is. Animal. Abuse.
