Running made things quite a bit worse in the Union. If police couldn't catch you right then they'd just show up a week from then and dump you into a car without a warrant. Theres really nowhere to run when the borders are closed and your home is government issued, meaning you'd have to apply for another or stay with a friend (Both bad ideas) The police just know they'll eventually catch them no matter what, so it isn't worth their time chasing.

"I don't get paid enough for the shit I put up with" - soviet cop "Мне не платят достаточно за то дерьмо, с которым я мирился "
you hear the same from American cops as well.
The Major at 2:56 is a very kind man. I know the Russian Character well. He's a Political Officer--I would like to know his name. My wife is Russian--I'm from Italy--He has great psychology
Russian COPS is filmed on location with the men and women of law enforcement, all suspects are guilty and face a walk to the forest escorted by usually two KGB operatives or equivalent until proven innocent.
ya thats why that old woman was SCREAMING in terror lol kinda fucked up
Actually wasn't that terrible anymore by the mid/late 80s under Gorbachev. It's fascinating how quickly it all collapsed without the use of such force, which proves that communism is totally unsustainable when there's no one with a gun to your head.
@@hasselnttper3730it collapsed because of the oil shock, a concerted effort by non soviet forces to stoke ultra nationalism in the periphery republics, and yeltsin allowing the otherwise robust public sector to be sold off for penny’s on the dollar to his cronies and creatures.

I distinctly remember this episode of cops in russia having a boy that turned in his father for being an abusive drunk/drug addict, maybe there was more than one.
This is awesome, time capsule, was so awesome the 80s
fwiw this is part 2 of a 2-parter; it originally aired as a 1 hour special and was broken into 2 half hour timeslots for syndication/reruns. thx for uploading
I remember when this first aired on TV, watching their academy training. Guys crawling under barbed wire, air raid sirens in the background, live AK-47 fire above them. Obviously missing from this episode.
I think the cops were muuuch nicer due to the facts that Americans were there recording them :p
i love that they voice over the russian in shitty accents
Major samm anyone?
So the first part of Russia special is 20 minutes long, so is this one. Knowing that this is a Special episode and that both parts are 20 minutes long there must be a 3rd part of this footage. Pls does anybody know where to find it?
I want to say it cut to British cops. I know they did a few UK episodes along with this. I remember when these used to air from time to time in the 1990s and remember USSR and then them showing police in the UK. Of course it was so long since I last saw it.
IMDb lists the episode is only 30 minutes long, obviously it's probably off by about 10 minutes or so but it doesn't look like there's any more footage. I'm surprised you didn't Google the runtime of this special episode you would have had your answer in just a few seconds.
Улицы разбитых фонарей - начало )))
ALL FORCED CONFESSIONS CAN AND WILL BE USED AGAINST YOU IN SOVIET PEOPLES COURT.
In Russia cop doesn't arrest you, you arrest yourself
gahh damn, I like the intro music and the ending credits music
I remember this episode! I thought that part where the 2 officers tried to stop the car, while holding on to it, was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life!
I see 20 health code violations in that hospital. Where is OSHA?
right and to think there are people who want "Socialized govt run health care" here in the US just ask anyone from a Communist Country like Cuba or Russia about the quality of health care and they will tell you !

People who still find what ГАП means. Well it means GAI or known for Russian Traffic cops. I dunno if they allowed to carry guns or just carry tickets.
They did carry guns.
they are allowed

Yo the translations make it funny 🤣🤣
There were 7 episodes of this, Amazed only 2 survie to this day, No one has came forward with the remaining ones, Years ago they was all reaired on UPN 49 and I could kick my self for not having recorded them all, Perhaps one could contact UPN (or whatever they are nowdays) and see if they could burn these to DVD and mail them out?
ive got to see those
As long as you have the sheet music for any song it can get played in any country. Sheet music is universal it's the lyrics.
"All suspects are guilty until proven innocent in a court of the Soviet" lol.
Six camera crews filmed for sixteen days and that's all the footage we get?
Crime in the Soviet Union was rather low, and what you saw here was basically at one of the highest points of crime in the late Soviet Union, being the late 80s.
The trade-off of authoritarianism is you have less crime, more order
there were several more episodes filmed ( at the begining you see a house on fire for example ) but they havent put them up here on KZhead yet . they maybe lost I hope they are found!

Interesting how the biker got picked up for a DUI but the woman that nearly ran a couple of them over was given the courtesy of getting to drive their car to the police station.

Maybe they should do one for China Iran North Korea Cuba and other communists regime

These people run away from the police and they get let off so easily. Could just be on camera good cop stuff, but that's nuts. they just give these dudes incentive to run if they don't give off any punishment

Protect and serve in Russia! You're kidding right? This was during the Cold War. What did they sell to the Russians to let them film this?
It was 1989. "Peace, friendship, chewing gum." At that time, the USSR believed that friendly and trusting relations had been established between the Union and the collective West. So the only money the film crew had to pay was for plane tickets.
0:23 That is the kgb and somebody fucked up and they are kidnapping him. These guys were like the mafia, they just show up out of nowhere and snatch your ass.
It is unlikely that this is the KGB. Most likely, the criminal investigation department or the guys from the 6th department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (organized crime department). They had the right to crack down on "work" against organized crime, the same methods that the RUOP would then use in the 1990s.
Man am I grateful to live in the US! Look at that shitty hospital!
