  • “Scratching about with a welding rod” such a true statement that anyone that’s arc welded can fully understand. My first welding experience was oxy-acetylene welding in Highschool welding class over 40 years ago. Very few people back then would have had a MIG welder so any other welding was done with a stick welder. Once I had the chance to use a MIG welder I was amazed at how well it worked with very little if any to clean up. I by no means am a great welder but if the welding gods are smiling then I can lay down some great looking beads. I don’t have a welder of my own but after seeing this video I can see that an arc welder (wish I had my Dad’s old Lincoln tombstone) is still a viable alternative for a lot of work at a more affordable price.

    @Crewsy@Crewsy2 жыл бұрын
    • Agreed, for most home workshops, the stick will do the vast majority of tasks, except Aluminium Alloys I suppose. Quite affordable. Thanks Wayne!

Hopefully if there isn’t a lot of overlap (I think there is) in your subscriber lists then you will both benefit from the cross promotion like when you “dropped in” on Neil when he made his cog wheel. Hopefully the 2 of you can get together again since you’re both in Australia afterall. 😉

  • Very nicely done. Great video brother. Very informative and pretty entertaining. Your video was very well put together with great editing. Much appreciation for explaining how the two fixtures are properly made and used. Having the best tools in the world means nothing if you can't use them properly. Having that in your video is extremely helpful to those who are lacking in experience with such tools. Lastly, thank you for plugging Pask Makes. I just took a quick look and his library is full of extremely useful information and project how to's. So again, great video and project. Much respect 🙏.

  • Great welding project. I couldn't agree with you more. If you want to start welding pick up a stick welder and start padding beads. Get a piece of 3" x 3" flat bar and lay one bead after another. When you have covered up the surface turn the piece of flat bar 90 degrees and fill it up again.
