Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

    • Always amazed how people don't realize the merrits of the initial idea for TPP. There are downsides for all partners, since there has to be compromise. But to see it in a black and white way as if it was done just to push the disadvantages is kind of naive. No president in the future will be able to avoid such agreements. It is all about the direction those agreements will take. Just being against it will allow the industry to dictate the content.

Obama lowered the deficit to below the historical average after it spiked during the recession and hasn't been the huge spender the right paints him as.

I'm quite certain that if you love him, you're also going to ascribe coolness to him; conversely, if you hate him, then you're going to see him as very uncool. I'd say the coolness award probably goes to Clinton due to his particular mannerisms, coming off as some type 'stoner hippie'. Albeit 'cool' in that sense is more descriptive of his calm and chill demeanor..

    • +Austin James Right - because no one ever sold weapons to those people before Obama! Wait... this just in... almost every President since WW II has been sending arms there! How did we miss that? But let's forget that detail. It's not as if the insurgency that became ISIS was armed with weapons from caches that Bush left unguarded or anything! What's that? They WERE? Oh my! But at least all the weapons he sent over there for the new Iraqi Army were recovered and did not fall into the hands of ISIS, so that's good news... oh, shit... But at least Bush wasn't silly enough to sign any treaties that would require the next President to pull out all our forces by 2012 whether it seemed like a good idea or not. What? It's called what? The Status of Forces Agreement? Negotiated and signed by the Bush administration? Hmmm - there has to be a way to save this narrative. I know! Obama is a socialist, Kenyan Muslim! So there! But he did divide the country what with intentionally being black and all. If he had been a real leader, he would have found a way to be white! But the dumb bastard ran up a little bit more debt than Bush did! That's why he is terrible! Just because Bush inherited a budget surplus and a good economy, and Obama got two wars, and the worst economic shitstorm in 80 years, and a huge deficit - he should have fixed it all right away!

But most people with a mind of their own know that HRC has had a pretty good career, she's not perfect, but she's tough and has policies. Also, her battle with Obama was typical election rhetoric. But if you did not know about the attacks on her by the Rove clan, then you would not have noticed the election banter either. HRC and BHO are ambitious, but capable. They went t each other's throats. But not that badly.

    • "He was pretty bad and was too weak in promoting and supporting the expansion of the occidental freedoms" What leverage was left? You seem to think he could order them to do as he wants, but in politics, it is all about leverage and common goals. It was not his fault that under Bush the USA became an expansionistic nation invading countries left and right. The way the war in Iraq failed destroyed the nimbus of invincibility. At that point it was obvious that the cost of a war would be too high. So he did pretty much what Willy Brandt did when recognizing the GDR: he gave away something of no value to his nation in exchange for something opening up new options. This is not weak, in fact, it shows political will which is lacking in most democracies. If no republican walks over it, this change might be a bigger game changer than the war in iraq for the region over the next decades. And talking about the "expansion of occidental freedoms" - you are aware that the Iran shifted towards a much more open attitude from the point on Obama made clear that he did not consider the people of Iran as US enemies on Al Jazeera? For Iranian conditions, the current government is a reform government, which will slowly lead to the people getting back the power from the clerics. This is more than all Bush's and Reagans have achieved showing around their guns.
