  • Agree all food is getting ridiculously expensive. We used to use lilys ktichen as we found it worked well for one of our 3 pugs who was prone to dry skin/fur. Then we got a 3rd pug, and he hated it, so we tried a few other brands to find one that worked well for them all and didn't irritate biscuits' dry skin. We came across wellness core and have been using it ever since, so 3 yrs now. It's also a good price. I'd go without food myself for my dogs, so although i agree 90 pounds is too much so changing foods for a better priced one sounds like a good idea. I'm confused as to how you can afford tattoos but not their food. 😕 Either way, i hope it works well for them. If you want to look into other brands, i can recommend wellness core. Mine have lovely soft skin and fur now, and even our youngest, the fussiest eater ever will eat it. Mine like fresh chicken chopped up with it every day, and then occasionally, we add some peas and carrots or a bit or rice just to give them some variety. Hope the changeover goes ok x

    • We feed our 3 pugs wellness core dog food with some fresh chicken breast or turkey, occasionally some rice peas and carrots to. They love it and their fur/skin is lovely. One of mine "Biscuit"is prone to dry flaky skin problems with certain foods wellness core works wonders for his skin and fur and since moving to it 3 yrs ago his skin has never been better! 🐾

  • I hear you on the cost. I also hear you on that nasty roadkill kibble they sell at grocery stores that’s just full of garbage like corn hulls. I feed my pug a raw brand called Naturawls (it’s nutritionally complete). A $44 box lasts her about 3 weeks. She hated all kibble except Acana but she loves raw a million times more.

    @Puglover130@Puglover13010 ай бұрын
  • Congratulations on the wedding. And about the food...In Slovakia 12kg bag of Acana cost arround 130€, also payouts are lower here...so 90 for it in UK is not that bad but yea. Depends of your current situation too.

  • Some of these comments here are so mean. He loves his pugs but when prices keep soaring you need to make changes. He is young and deserves something for himself as well. It's all balance.

    • I 100% agree that the food prices are insane and that trying out cheaper brands isn't a bad thing if the quality is still there, its the follow up with and I'm getting myself a new tattoo that doesn't come across great tbh. Anyway I really hope they find the new brand just as good. Saving some money is never a bad thing x

  • Ah the boys are looking fabulous as always! 🙌🏽🐾 🖤🤎🤍Ah yes, what to feed our dogs!! I had to go with Ziwi Peak which is air dried and 96% venison/organs/green mussels or 96% beef or chicken with organs and green mussels- no grains, all free range and grass fed. I chose this because she’s a 70 pound muscle bound pup lol. It’s $55 for 2.2 pounds of food 🙃…. But! It’s truly amazing ingredients from New Zealand! I feed her homemade dehydrated chicken and beef as well. So it’s not like I’m blowing through a bag a week of Ziwi…. Although buying chicken and beef is also expensive and time consuming to make lol! BUT I’m retired so…. I enjoy doing it! I also make her treats-taking yogurt and shredded carrots and blueberries for instance, and freezing in dog bone shaped silicone molds. The best part is….she’s got a glimmering black coat, and she has ZERO health issues of ANY sort, which was a concern, as her mix of breeds is a little….. strange. Her Mom was a 4 generation purebred apricot pug and her father was a 50/50 black & tan Shiba Inu/black German shepherd! 🙏🏽🤦🏻‍♀️…. But sshhhhhh! I don’t talk about it in front of her …. hers a little sensitive 🫣! Lovely to see everyone!

  • I give my dog the store brand of what is basically the same as a premium brand of salmon and sweet potato grain free, LID food. I got the feeling that it's made by the same company just the generic version at half the price as the premium name brand. As long as the dogs are active and healthy, lower calorie senior foods aren't necessary just maybe add some glucosamine for joint health.

  • Hi Karl, recently lost my Pug at the age of 7 and absolutely devastated. Both your boys (and Winston) seemed to be really quite healthy - just wondering which breeder you got them from? I did an awful lot of research when getting my boy however he ended up with a severe case of BOAS requiring correction when he was 4. Unfortunately put him to sleep last week after a rapid decline attributed to Intestinal cancer. I miss him a lot, and know that once I'm ready - I want to take on another.

    @jakec6282@jakec628211 ай бұрын
    • Sorry to hear that you lost your baby. He will be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge. I will never have another Pug because of the breathing issues. Maybe pick another breed. Or, a retro Pug with a longer muzzle.

  • It's so hard to know what to feed your dog. There's a debate on grain-free, and whether it increases the risk of dilated cardiomyopathy (not due to the lack of grains, but the substitute carbs used to bind the kibble). But there haven't been any controlled studies yet, and the prevalence vs. the number of dogs on grain-free diets is unknown. I feed frozen raw, but there's a significant anti-raw crowd too. There's no winning. Glad to see the boys are doing well, and good luck with the next phase of the tattoo!

    • I studied the issue of dog food for 6 months before getting my dog lol. What a debate!! I struggled with the idea of my dog eating food in which very poor grade meats were used…less than healthy specimens of questionable origin etc…. I did manage to find grain free without the unfortunate replacements, but it is expensive. Thankfully within my budget 🙏🏽. Lol her food budget is literally almost as much as mine, and I’m eating organic! But she’s my baby girl, ya know? 🐕‍🦺 And we get them for such a relatively short time, I was determined to provide exemplary nutrition 💪🏽🖤

    • Canine cardiologists recommend food with grains. The incidence of dogs with CBD has become exponential because of grain-free food.

      @drina4706@drina470611 ай бұрын
    • @@drina4706 I know it’s definitely the number one topic amongst dog owners, in my experience. I did consult with a canine nutritionist as I was deciding on Sasha’s food, and I do add grains to her diet, just not the kind, nor quite the amount, we see in typical, commercial food. I would say if a person IS feeding typical commercial food, that they feed half & half of grain and no-grain, if they in fact, truly want to go completely grain-free…. but know there is that one specific cardiac concern, so hedging bets, as it were, practicing moderation….! 🐕‍🦺🖤🐾
