Such a privilege to have an ex fast jet pilot make videos like this.
Absolutely my pleasure!
Exactly! KZhead at its best. Thanks for taking the time to do this Chris! Appreciate it
@@cgaviator are you a DCS man?
I bet Mr Davies is champing at the bit to fly this !
@@RobertDodge probably… he’ll be dropping some truth bombs with it! 😁
The Panavia Tornado is a family of twin-engine, variable-wing, multi-role combat aircraft jointly developed and manufactured by Italy, the UK and Germany. The audio commentary in this MSFS preview is very in-depth and full of passion. You can feel the passion. A friend of mine flew this thing for the German Air Force. He was one of the youngest Tornado pilots in Germany and was stationed at Nörvenich AFB. I'll never forget our first solo flight in an ASK 13 when we were teenagers.
A lot of passionate people but sadly not enough real world opportunity. Appreciate your comments, thanks 👍🏻
Love the navigation technique. "Let's go west, that's where Wales is"
Big picture thinking! 😂
No wonder I cannot find the mach loop, I was flying through star wars in Scotland 😮😢😊😊😊.
But that is where Wales is. Fyi if you see whales you've gone too far.
That’s good old stick and rudder thinking from the ORIGINAL pilots. Sweet.
Chris, the community is indeed privileged to have someone of your background and experience who takes the time to share all that in reviewing aircraft. It makes it so real and provides a seriously real insight to the bird. Well done and thank you.
My pleasure!
I'll second that.
I can’t wait for this, was a sad day when the Tornado retired, such an amazing plane! This is how you make a fast jet in the sim, IFE never disappoint
Excellent dev and so committed to getting things right.
I agree, a very big fan of the tornado, a work of art 😊.
Thank you KZhead. I used to work at BAe Warton as a Weight Engineer for about half my time there (started in 89, left in 98). The fun part of the job was checking the cg and weight of actual Tonkas when they were towed on to the weighbridge Warton had ( 3 hangar). Many good times!! We also had to prepare loadsheets for different configs (remember to use the fin fuel before takeoff!). The loadsheets became more time sensitive and important when the Gulf War was on. A beautiful beast of an aeroplane! 13.5 tonnes empty or so, built like a brick outhouse! If a Tornado didn't set off several car alarms on takeoff then it was a tad disappointing. I fondly remember playing Digital Integration's Tornado on my 486 pc back then. Sadly I've forgotten more than I know these days! Happy flight swimming, Chris.
Ah yes, the car alarms! I always enjoyed that feature! Thanks for your work!
Instant buy for me personally on all IndiaFoxTecho and they raised the bar again from their other jets. Can't wait to fly her in VR. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure. And I’m dusting off the VR headset also! I’m usually a TrackIR guy.
@@cgaviatorI was very impressed by the F-35 considering they probably didn't have access to the inside of a real one. Seems like this is another incredible aircraft to add to my virtual hanger someday!
So you did not fly her yet. VR is the only way my friend. We live on a round planet earth and not a pancake one ;-) @@cgaviator
How you don’t have more subscribers is astounding. I’ve been watching your content for a few years now, your knowledge is absolutely fascinating. Hope you have fun flying down memory lane!!
Guess I’m very niche! 😅 Took a while off to reset and I think I’ve found a balance so will see how it goes! Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
This is absolutely bloody awesome! Love this fighter and the fact we have an Ex Tornado pilot taking us through this, you love to see it! Keep it up!
Thanks, appreciate it
I've been so looking forward to this aircraft, what a lunchtime treat to see you take the development model out for a spin. Already on my to buy list and can't wait to see more content from you on this Chris, and learn a bit more about the magnificent Tonka
I’ll have to do my airshow chat like I used to all the time at RIAT. Nice idea for a video, thanks
That would make a cracking video @@cgaviator
It would indeed 😊.
Most beautiful plane in the world. Followed by the F14. Can't wait for the release. Served in a Tornado Squad in Germany, so this is a must have for me. Thanks for showing.
My pleasure. And yes, proper beefy jet!
Thank you for this. I missed out on a back seat trip when I left 617 as an engineer to return to Nimrod. Looking forward to this release, might go some way to making up for missing the real thing.
I missed out on a back seat in a Jaguar cos the bigger broke! 😅 Thanks for what you did. Much respect to the peeps who kept them flying!
@@cgaviator Nice of you to say so, thanks.
It brings me so much joy to see and hear you re-experiencing this!
Lol, yeah, really brought back some memories!
Back in the day my family lived on the edge of a low flying area in the Midlands, and we'd see Tornados, Jaguars, Phantoms, and even the occasional F-111, going over super low and super fast, an amazing sight, so to see this so well represented in the sim is just fantastic and gives us all the chance to experience what it must have been for you guys as pilots. Amazing stuff, 10 out of 10 from me!
I spent alot of my youth with my eyes on the sky!
it takes me back there too. Seeing those sand coloured Tornados was a common sight back then
What lovely list aircraft, you have taste 😊.
Brilliant to watch, really enjoyed the enthusiasm and listening to your memories being conjured during the flight - great stuff👍🏼
Please, thanks for watching
Thanks for the preview chap! I'm very excited by this, having grown up with Tornados (we're almost exactly the same age!) and I still say that Tonka ripping past at 200ft with burner on, wings full back, is absolutely one of my favourite things!! 🤩
Totally! The sound of 1970s tech beating physics into submission with noise and fire! 🔥
@@cgaviator 👍🤣
That is insanely awesome! I swear IFE never disappoints, and you just make her sing! Outstanding!!
She’s hold a tune very well! 😁 Thanks. Looking forward to really putting her through her paces.
Knowing how much you've been looking forward to the Tornado, it's a joy to watch you enjoy it as you do. Plus, to me personally, it acts like a "seal of approval" of sorts, which shows me that IFT have, yet again, created a amazing product, and that it won't be a waste of money (not that I thought that it would be, because.... Well, it's IFT!!! 'Nuf said!!!!). ;D
It’s hard not to enjoy something that reminds you so much of the good times!
@@cgaviator What was it my old mentor used to say? "Life is not only about remembering to breathe and pay bills. It's just as much, about creating and enjoying the good moments, and get through the rough times to the best of your abilities. Nothing good ever comes from standing with your head hanging down, if neck-deep in sh*t.". 😅 That last part always makes me chuckle. But hey... It's true. 😁😉
@@JGE_DK yes, that last part is particularly spot on!
It was a treat to hear your enthusiasm Chris 😊 Really enjoy all your videos, very pleased you are back. Always very educational and entertaining
Thanks, really appreciate you saying so. Glad to have some time to do it 👍🏻
I can’t wait for this! I loved the Tornado so much I joined up and spend many years on both variants as Groundcrew and was fortunate to have 2 jollies in the back seat.
That’s the good stuff, all the fun and none of the hard work! 😆
Takes me back to my days flying Digital Integration's Tornado game
Never even heard of that!
I would have thought you'd have grown up with it, that and the old MPS Labs Microprose Flight Sims...that was the game that made me dream of flying Tornado's in the RAF@@cgaviator
Yes! Been looking forward to this one.
Let me know what you think!
Great video and enjoy hearing your thoughts, looking forward to trying this one myself. I was a techy at Lossie working on these a few years back.
@@Hobbes22 definitely needed a full set of trades to keep this flying!
Your videos are seriously awesome. Thank you for the consistent, high-quality content, man. Keep it up ✈️🤙
Thanks, will do!
What an absolute joy to watch this and listen to you share your experience from flying the real thing. Thank you
My pleasure, and thanks for taking the time to comment 👍🏻
Love your enthusiasm, especially when it comes to the Tonka! Super jealous you have a pre-release and the fact that you've flown them!! Thanks for the review Chris! :D - Ross
My pleasure, it seems so long ago!
@@cgaviator I bet! Great to revisit those memories though, huh? I've asked D for a preview copy to create some cinematics, but he's reluctant to part ways with it, understandably!
Really enjoyed watching and hearing your enthusiasm and enjoyment for your old steed!
Thank you, appreciate it
That's a hell of on introduction!! Glad to see you re-living past experiences for us, the many.
Pleasure, and thanks!
Great video CG. I used to spend my days fixing the HUD, CRPMD, PMD and INU at Honington and was also responsible as part of the mod team for the AP slave on the top of the instrument panel. Nice to see it all working 👍
Nice, jets certainly take a lot of people to keep them flying that’s for sure!
@@cgaviator certainly did, I was in the flight systems bay, there was the radar bay, lecky bay, sky shadow bay and SMS bay and that was just avionics. There would have been engine support, hydraulic bay, tyres, oxygen and that’s before you got to weapons!!!
@@johnfisher9428 dread to think what the total cost per hour was to fly these! Thanks 👍🏻
@@cgaviator I started my career on Lightning’s at Binbrook and I managed to get a trip in a T5. I was told the cost was £44k per flying hour 😬. So, yeah, fast jets, not a cheap hobby.
@@johnfisher9428 😳
Great video! Thanks for sharing the first moving pictures of this beauty.
Had to get in there! And my pleasure!
I was once fortunate to have a shot in the F3 sim at Leuchars back in the day. Very much looking forward to this in VR once it's out. Great vid!
Uurgh… F3! 😂 It’s all good. I need to sort out my VR
Flies really good landing can be tricky but thats what is so good about this jet, it feels real.Your video is really helpful.Thank you.
Great to hear, thanks 👍🏻
Fabulous aircraft and a great demonstration. Thank you for the heads up on this 👍
My pleasure, glad you liked!
Ah this was class mate excellent first look and can really get a sense of your enjoyment during the video - plenty of "look at that" - I love it!
😂 I had to edit out 50% of the times I said the word ‘awesome!’ Thanks 🙏🏻
Haha he was like a kid in a sweet shop 😂
So cool to have a real Ex Tornado Pilot pre - presenting this ! like your happy and excited attitude in the whole vid - and it looks just brilliant !
Thanks, like a kid in a candy store! 😊
So good! Cannot wait for this. What made this video is just the pure evident enjoyment in your voice! Fantastic
😃 thanks, it did make me smile for sure
Fantastic vlog, thank you for your time and effort. As always you make it look so easy 😊. You are a natural, you can fly all your aircraft blind folded with one hand behind your back. Something, I cannot do even after hours off trying 😮😢😊. But still have fun and boost my morale by watching an expert like you doing it as one with the aircraft 😮😊.
Thanks, appreciate you saying!
excellent vid and you obviously went back in time! Cheers for sharing once again
Yes, I think I’m back in the present now, no rest for the wicked!
Your enthusiasm is contagious! Thanks for sharing!
Good to hear! 😁
Hahaha! So far, every time I've hoped into the Tornado, I fly from Valley Anglesey and through the Mach loop. Fantastic video and thanks a whole bunch for sharing. The Tornado is my all time favorite military aircraft. So glad this released on MSFS. Now lets hope they release for DCS in the near future.
Won’t be near future, but fingers crossed for 2025!
Such a great video, really good to have your background with it. We need a tornado series, emergency work. Normal pattern work, things you learnt! Would be great. 👍
Think I need to relearn it all to do it justice! 😅
Brilliant mate … watched loads of your videos … very much looking forward to this thank you
My pleasure 👍🏻
Your enthusiasm for this product means I will purchase it! Really glad it brings back the memories for you. Great video
Thanks 🙏🏻
Brilliant top guy thanks for that was so refreshing watching an ex Tornado pilot doing the Mach loop with such full of enthusiasm. Aircraft looks awesome great review can't wait to purchase 👌
My pleasure, thanks 🙏🏻
Sitting on a train into Brisbane city to yet another doctors appointment and the other pax must be looking and wondering why I had a smile from ear to ear and went “wow!” as you dropped in over lake Bala. I miss Wales so much having spent 13 years visiting The Loop and having had the pleasure to fly around it with 19 Sqn as visiting aircrew. That turn just north of Mach and up the Dovey Valley is tricky as you say and not one photographers get to see or the ridge crossing south of Corris. I have a video my wife shot from Bluebell of pair of GR4’s ripping around the bend from Dinas Mawddwy and blooming with vapour and you can actually see them ‘skidding’/drifting through the air as the lined up for The Bwlch and the Loop Exit. As you say , memories . Can’t wait for this. Being a now disabled veteran MSFS is my only outlet really and the Tornado will really and truly give me a happy place to go when I’m feeling sorry for myself . 🤙🏻
Your words are spot on. Flight sim is also my outlet. A great way to escape to where I’ve been and explore other places. Hopefully it’ll be out soon. All the best
@@cgaviatorcorrected my above shaky hands autocorrect errors though I think most people now have an inbuilt universal translator 🤣🤣🤣.
For having played Digital Integration Tornado on an Amiga in the 90's, this is a WOW experience! Great clip and solid development! Thanks!
That’s going back a way! 😁
Already got a dozen paint jobs in mind, great preview thanks. Very excited for this btw.
Do you paint?
absolute joy to hear you light up as you fly this. Such a good video.
Thanks, appreciate it!
Nice! This is a very special aircraft for me personally and i am looking forward to the eventual DCS version...but you won't be able to fly across good old blighty in it, over the lakes, valleys and highlands! This will be a must buy for me, thanks for the preview 👌🇬🇧
It’s the best way to tour the UK for sure!
From your reaction it seems IFE are doing well with this one. Per their usual work in MSFS (and DCS!!) it looks GREAT! Glad to see they've got some "heft" built into the flight model. Hopefully they spend a LOT of time on the FM :) Other than some time in the old X-Trident Tornado for X-Plane, I've got very little experience with Tornado. But it's a fascinating aircraft that's VERY fun & challenging to operate. So many advanced systems, yet still very "steam gauge" in so many ways. Combine all that with not only Mach 2 top speed, but also thrust reverse for ridiculously short landings and we have what just might be one of the most satisfying aircraft to operate in a flight sim. PLEASE do more flights with it - your running commentary based on IRL experience makes your vids so enjoyable! :)
Thanks so much, will do! I’ve only ever managed to squeeze M1.03 out of her! 😂
Splendid! Thank you for sharing your experience!!
Absolutely my pleasure 👍🏻
Great to have a professional commentary. As well as the stunning aeroplanes the scenery still amazes me.
My pleasure, and the scenery just blows me away!
Just brilliant, on the shopping list . Thanks so much for your top-class content
My pleasure! 👍🏻
Superb that’s for sharing . I’ll need to try the airshow assist with the hawk also 😊 Regards Dave from Scotland
Lovely video, it was amazing watching this video, especially those tricky twists, and turns.
Thanks very much 👍🏻
Beautiful aircraft! Always cool to see you in the mach loop.
Can’t stay away! 😁
This is one cool presentation. Especially when there is a real tornado pilot sharing his experience at the same time. Hope to see more!
Planning on it! 😁
Wow, great video. Way back in the stoneage I had a flight sim called ‘Tornado’. It was brilliant. The flight planning was amazing & pyramids for hills! Loft bombing was a blast. Flatten an airfield, 200ft, full ahead both, get the hell outa there! All on auto-pilot. Looks like I will have to buy a full Gucci computer & wait for the Tornado to appear on DCS.
I remember a game called EF2000 and the manual was a full up handling manual with BFM etc. I could never figure it out!
@@cgaviator Yes, remember that one, half decent graphics for the time, but not as engaging as Tornado.
Flying over my beloved home, Anglesey. Great flight, liked and subbed
Thanks, appreciate it!
Awesome, really enjoyed that & looking forward to watching more in the future. Was having a pretty S**t day but thats totally turned it around, Thanks.
Happy to help! 🤗
Absolutely amazing. Looks incredible!
Sure does!
I can't wait! Probably my favourite fast jet. It's beautiful, ift have done such a good job. I'll always remember the awe seeing these at airshows in the UK. I wish they kept the demo team going or a few airworthy ones for airshows.
Oh count me in if they brought them back as vintage airshow performers!
Loved it heading down from Manchester to the loop next week ❤👏👏👏👏 .
Good hunting!
Absolutely Brilliant 😊 thank you, it will be on the wishlist to get.

That sounded like you feel right at home. Impressive to take this ride along somebody who actually flew these!
I plan to do some realistic routes, perhaps Lake District and Scotland are calling!
Briljant firdt review and what a smooth Machloop run, thanks for sharing. Will buy the Tornado from day one, great fighter.
It’s a no brainer for those who appreciate the Tonka!
So I can see what you mean about the “pre-release” state but the potential of this mod is staggering! I really look forward to the completed release. Thanks for sharing :)

@@cgaviator absolutely 😂 I've just subscribed to you keep up the great work and thank you for your service 😊
As a local who was lucky enough to grow up with Marham Tornados passing at treetop height over my house this release has been the holy grail for me when it comes to MSFS releases. It's looking absolutely amazing, very much hyped for this release.
I also spent my younger years running outside to see what was coming (or is just missed!)
Definitely was anticipating seeing your thoughts on this. Glad to see it in action
Holding back in-depth thoughts til she’s finished.
Hi, I just wanted to mention that there's an absolutely awesome Combat flight sim out there in the form of DCS! (im pretty sure youre aware of DCS, but just in case), Its always nice to have real Pilots in the community!
I’ve not heard of DCS… 😏 I did briefly have a cgCOMBAT page but I didn’t have enough time to commit to it. And DCS doesn’t have the world wide mapping that I enjoy so much. May still dabble from time to time 👍🏻
Absolutely fantastic sir! What a treat to see two Tonkas back in the loop!
Could have taken a diamond 4 but number 4 was far too close for my liking! 😂
Fantastic sir I loved these I used to be based at lossie and when cooking omelettes at 15 sqn feeder the place used to shake lol the noice and smell of avtur I miss

Holy smokes - pretty much a must buy for me... I must be living under a rock, as I didn't know about the Airshow Assistant add on - guess I'll be buying that as well.
lol, only just heard about it! I’m like a kid in a candy store! 😂
Looks amazing. I wish we had a Tornado in DCS. I have flown a GR1 twin sticker from the back seat back in 93.
Nice, pilot or passenger?
You sounded so happy. Can’t wait for its release. Really wish I’d spent longer at Lossiemouth photographing them. Don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone eh.

Amazing presentation as always Sir! 😊
Thank you, appreciate it 👍🏻
Tornado is my number one most anticipated aircraft will definitely be picking this as well as the just flight version
Yeah, they can keep their F14…! 😳😂
Great video! Sounds like you were enjoying yourself a lot haha! Couple points: Performance doesn't look great, looks heavy on frames as your scenery wasn't passing by smooth at all. Engine sounds I hope will be updated, I know its WIP but that will let the whole thing down if left as is, as it sounds bad externally. Hope we get those cool flashing Nav lights too in the final release.
Sound of the quality is lost in recording. 30fps recording of 50-60fps gameplay. Multiple tonkas didn’t help! But I can say it seemed smooth single ship.
When I was a kid, in the mid-to-late 1980s and the early 1990s we lived up in the far north of Scotland (Caithness). It was the closing days of the Cold War, and the RAF flew both the SEPECAT Jaguar and the Panavia Tornado. At school, on a very regular basis, we'd see Jaguars and Tornados flying overhead at fairly low level - only a few hundred feet. Can't remember whether they were stationed at Leuchars or at Lossiemouth, or both - but they'd pass us by very frequently in those days. I could always tell the Tornado from the Jaguar before I ever saw it approaching. The sound was phenomenal - like the sky being torn in half. These days I live around the Aberdeen area, and I rarely see any RAF jets on patrol - possibly avoiding the airspace so as not to disrupt traffic in/out of Aberdeen Airport? The Tornados and the Jaguars have long since been retired, but the only time I've ever seen a Eurofighter was at an airshow in Peterhead last year (part of Peterhead Week, which involved the BBMF's Avro Lancaster, and a display by the Red Arrows). I miss the Tornado. Such a cool jet.
Like the sky being torn in half, that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up as that’s exactly how I thought of it when I was a kid! I had a friend that infringed Aberdeen airspace a long time ago! But yes, nothing in that area for fast jets to do sadly.
While im sat here waiting on the DCS Tornado, this, this will scratch my itch, ive been out of the flight sim scene for a few months, this plane makes me wanna fly again
Itches being scratched everywhere!
I'm always impressed with how many things you can look at and buttons you can press without crashing. Sometimes I just glance down for a moment and I've climbed a few thousand feet. 😮 In my defense I was an accountant not a fast jet pilot.
Women don’t hold the monopoly on multitasking! 😂
Used to watch the 15Sqn aircraft starting up on the line at Lossie and smelling the avtur fumes in the air phot cabin.
Nothing like the smell of burnt AVTUR in the morning! 😁
I am so excited for this All of IFT line up From this and the skyhawk all the way to thr F16 thingy They all seem so amazing!!!!
It’s a good ‘un!
Love this aircraft grew up seeing these on almost daily basis in Lake District. I would love to see this in DCS along with the SEPCAT Jaguar.
Ditto! Need a Jag next!
Awesome, been waiting for this one too! 👍
It’s gonna be very popular I’m sure!
Looking forward to flying this through the Mach Loop also! @@cgaviator
Stunning. Looking forward to more on this. No better person in the World to do a proper review.
Thanks, appreciate it 👍🏻
as a kid in the 80s, when I got a Luftwaffe poster and a small model kit of the Tornado, I truly fell in love with that machine. I´m certainly a bit sad that its lifetime comes to an end, but the sands of time won´t stop... no matter how much we´re begging them :) So yeah, I´m greatful for mods like this, they´ll keep things "alive" that might soon only be visible in a handful of museums. Will certainly get my hands on this machine. Will be a nice companion for my Typhoon :)
True words! I’ve flown in formation with typhoons and they are crazy quick. I’ve also flown in a typhoon which was eye opening. But I still love me a Tonka!
Awesome video of my favourite plane!
Glad to hear it’s your favourite! It’s a proper jet where the pilot still does the flying! 😂
That's one happy cgaviator! Can't flippin wait! 😃😄

This is awesome. It would definitely be cool if the terrain following radar looked forward and allowed you to do things like fly through Scandinavian mountains at low level in low visibility. I really enjoyed the video.
When a tornado comes to DCS, then we’ll see impressive levels of system simulation 🤘🏻
Brilliant, so many cool jets coming into the sim!
There are loads, hard to keep up! May have to do some fluid manoeuvring in the F5 at some point also!
