7:47 Delicate Sound Of Thunder
7:57 Goodbye Nassau!
[ Adapted, Remixed, REMASTERED & 5.1 Surround Version by Obi Wan Kenobi ]
One year after and having renewed my old computer after it's death in last September,
I'm back with the fifth episode of my "Nassau Extended Unreleased" series, and this time
it comes with some new features such as improved video quality in 4K and 5.1 surround audio
taking advantage of my new and more powerful hardware, impossible things with my previous PC.
For those who are not familiar with this project; THIS IS NOT THE 2019 RE-EDITION NOR ANY
OTHER OFFICIAL RELEASED VERSION OF THE SONG, this is a REAL register from those
magical Nassau Coliseum's nights back in 1988.
My starting point was my master record from the August 20th night and as usual hours of
experimentation, then rebuilded the video to match the song as perfectly as the logic allowed me.
This one will be also special because this is my first 5.1 surround release; and again, THIS IS NOT
THAT 6 CHANNEL VERSION THAT CAME WITH THE OFFICIAL 2019 RESTORED RELEASE.
The process here became even longer since the transformation of the track into the 5.1 architecture
was a new air for me, and complicated and challenging as well, and my goal was to recreate a pure
live sound but getting rid of that weird back reverb flavor present in the official release, just like
my previous remasters, and adding the strength of multichannel dynamics.
"I can't explain, you would not understand", but it's impossible to syntheticly describe this part of
the process, but it was just like playing a puzzle game where priorizing certain pieces, lowered others,
move aside others and inventing some just "to fill the empty spaces"; were days and days and days
of experiments and testing of trial and error.
Some of the features & editing process summary:
▪ Mainly PURE LIVE SOUND: dry, cleaner and organic
▪ 5.1 SURROUND (6 channel audio) sound enforcing the live nuances and avoiding reverbs
▪ LOSSLESS encoding, ensuring the BEST VIDEO QUALITY for this footage on KZhead!
▪ Video rebuilt and improved certain image details
▪ Spacial treatment for voices, instruments, sounds and effects
▪ Several segments were isolated, rebalanced and reinserted to enlighting specific passages
▪ Rick Wright keyboard solo was specially reworked to create the "floating" effect
▪ Added crowd ambience and other effects
▪ Re-equalized and improved general dynamics
▪ General info: final video weight 30 GB (lossless re-encoding) / final 6 ch. soundtrack 700 MB (lossless 32 bits)
🔺Usual recommendations:
▪ The 5.1 surround sound can be used on KZhead on all televisions of 2021 onwards,
as well as in Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku and most Fire TV devices. In addition,
the 5.1 envelope sound is compatible with Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Xbox One X,
Xbox One S, Xbox One and PlayStation 5. Many televisions of the previous 2020 and years
also support the surround sound. Check the manufacturer's information to know if your
device is compatible with the 5.1 surround sound.
▪ I strongly encourage you to play my tracks using SPEAKERS. The reason is that I work
each remaster based on an "air monitoring"; I mean, using the sound through air just like
live sound normally unfolds, and even though headphones will work, the experience will
always be better over a speaker based system. The better the speaker system the better
the experience; forget about smartvs and cellphone speakers, since all of them are deeply
limited in dynamics and hardly can handle mid-ranges.

The 5.1 sound on this is incredible! I was at this concert and I had the VHS back in the day. The concert was shot on AGFA film which had a blue tint to it, still glossy film quality just bluish, and 2 channel stereo. The concert was surround sound as sound effects would circle the coliseum and pan back and forth and left to right. It was like being at Devil’s Tower at the end of Close Encounters of The Third Kind when the aliens landed. Then in ‘94 the Pulse tour was this light show on steroids! Bands now don’t even do the lights from DSoT! Thanks for uploading this video!
Glad you liked it, and thank you for that interesting info about the recording and specially the sound used in the show back then; now based on it I can understand certain details I have in my original soundboard copy, that originally I thought they were recording issues, but now I can confirm that actually it's all related to the multi channel they used then. Once again thank you for taking your time for that valuable input and or course for the kind words. Cheers!
@@TheForce_Productions cheers!
@@TheForce_Productions Remember that Quadrophonic LP format? Didn't PF release at least a couple of their albums (DSotM for sure) on that format? I haven't even looked before writing this comment, but certainly will look around now. It was before my time, I remember that during whatever popularity the format had, I bet I still had training wheels on my first bike ... lol .. but hey I thought I'd give that a mention, while the topic of PF's surround sound is in plain sight here. Another fantastic upload by the way, thanks for sharing!
@@PianoManPaul Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here were released in Quadrophonic.
I love it when people say I was there. And give more information about it! Thank you!
No cell phones, just people enjoying the best music on the planet
No FUCKING cellphones, you meant.
No one had cell phones back in 1988. Good fun shows too!
Yes) music only!
Excellent!!
👋where are those days?
Rachel Fury Dancing .👏👏👏👏
Something else, isn't it - just seeing her move, wow.
@@Hypermarlin I fell in love with her in late '87 and never looked back. So next level beauty.
the best band of world! with wonderfull and awesome Rachael Fury! 🤩
What did Racheal play ? My heart !!!
That's the greatest rock band in history. Defining the genre, there will never be another like them.
I gotta agree. The greatest rock band in history. 400 yrs from now, people will still be listening
Музыка величайшая . просто душа взлетает и парит какой-то душевный восторг, жизненная сила. Пинк Флойд вечен. Подобного нет. Он будет с нами всегда
Amen on that.
This is ridiculous!! I'm a grown 54 year old man and I've got tears rolling down my cheeks watching this and the I see Richard and I start balling my eyes out !?!? WTF???????
Rachel Fury is INCREDIBLE!!
As I said so many times yet; Rachel is to women such as Pink Floyd to music. Cheers!
Рейчел Фьюри
i,ve been in love with her for years❤
We're all in love with Rachel.
@@ceejay960 Absolutely . Something about her .
I can't hardly recollect the entire show of momentary lapse of reason but for one thing , the stunning beauty of Rachel Fury .
Glad to know I wasn't the only one
I was at the concert and only wish I could have been closer to fully appreciate that exquisite creature.
Yes! Had the VHS, smoked some weed first time I watched it at 22,couldn’t take my eyes of her. Every time I listened to this and yeah there she appears in my minds eye. Gorgeous!
Nice to see some Rachel Fury footage that I've never seen
The movement of all three is mesmerising, RF in particular. Wasn't it rumoured that DG had a thing with her?
The best live shows of any band, nothing or no one compares to Pink Floyd's mind bending audio visual extravaganza. Absolute pinnacle of concert experiences.
Rammstein 🗿
The entire concept of a live musical performance was redefined by Floyd. This is it. THIS is as good as live music can be.
I like the way these guys grew up and didn't try to maintain some adolescent version of themselves from years past like so many aging rockers do. I mean, you can tell that their music wasn't their identity and that they have full and rich lives apart from their "day job" as a band. Their music is simply among the best there is in the genre of 70s, and 80's rock and when they performed live they had the professionalism to perform to a level of excellence most rock groups simply cannot achieve. So much talent and so many level-headed dudes who have their shit together instead of their lives being a multi decade saga of self-destruction and substance abuse that we see so often. Respect.
My greatest musical regret.... not seeing Pink Floyd live!
Vagyunk így pár milliárdan!
Absolutely
Best backup singers / dancers of them all!
All of those people in the audience ? Most of them are grandparents now. Incredible music lives forever.
No sé porque no me canso nunca de oír a Pink Floyd, que alguien me lo explique
I was there. I'm not a grumbling grandad. We are preserving music to educate your generation that Simon Cowel and his ilk are actually anti talent and vocal freedom
The most AWESOMENESS BAND IN HISTORY!!! Music at its BEST THE ONE N ONLY PINK FLOYD!!!!🇺🇸🙏
What kind of feeling must it be to be on stage as PINK FLOYD and to inspire the fans so much, no matter what year or decade? . Thanks for the video!
Happy you've enjoyed it, thank you for stopping by!
I was there. Best concert I've ever been to.
As an 8 year old in '88, it's hard to put into words what it was like seeing Rachel Fury for the first time. ❤ 😍
I was already old enough to be your father in 1980. I've been a fan since they started in 1965.
I was 22 and yes.....she was the dish
i saw her in 1994 in köln an still dream about her today
"If they catch you in the backseat trying to pick her locks, they're going to send you home in a cardboard box." What great lyric.
The day is never complete until I listen to Pink Floyd ❤
Saw them in concert in San Diego, Ca. in 1994, we were in front row by the stage. I still have my concert tee shirt and the ticket stub, It was incredible, magical !
Munich 88 , 94, Stuttgart 89👍👍👍
Thanks for posting this. Their intention was to make each concert a memorable event and they delivered every time.
I was at this concert, I was a teen then , the best time of my life!!
😊
You lucky, indeed !
I was at the Monday August 22nd show at Nassau Colliseum. I was only 19 at the time, and it absolutely blew me away. I've been to dozens of concerts over the years, but I can't think of one that topped that. Unforgettable!
I saw this show in Munich, July 1988 at the Olympiastadion. Best concert experience ever.
Top performance. World's top band with rock's sexiest backup singers
Fury is a stunner
IMO one of the best recorded live performances ever!
agree
I can actually tell myself I was there back in '87. Only 17yrs of age then, and was I amazed. It was the most amazing concert I have ever been to, and I've seen lots of them.
One of the greatest concert films ever.... Mark Isham's The Delicate Soud of Thunder. The Days of Rachel Fury singing bg
Saw this concert tour in Sydney Australia I think early 1989. Sat about 4 rows from the front on the left and instantly fell in love with Rachel Fury (one of the 3 backing singers). An absolutley fabulous concert that lived up to ALL expectations...
Lucky lucky you! Greetings!
Opening night in Melbourne. I went along to Rod Laver arena - without a ticket, but curious, a stranger approached me with 3 tickets to sell for his friends who couldn't make it back from the U.S. Guess who found himself sitting 5 rows back & center stage? Saw the Floyd 2 more times that week & loved every minute.
No, it was January 1988. The first show was 27 Jan, the day after our Bicentennial Celebrations - Nick Mason's birthday - you'll remember if you were there that day. They originally sold two shows, I went to the first one and got the second back row. :) The laser show was amazing from the very back of the old Entertainment Centre. They went on to do about seven shows, I went to four. Tickets were about $50 - the cheap ones anyway. 35 years later I'm paying ten times that to see Nick Mason and Guy Pratt at the Saucerful of Secrets Tour. LJ, have a dig around KZhead. You'll find some low quality audio bootlegs of the Sydney shows.
Pink Floyd! Can't be beat! Beautiful, awesome music! What really stands out to me in this song, Run Like He'll, is that it really brings out the sound of someone that is running for their life. The pounding of feet....awesome! 🎵🎶👍💯
While I have been a music fanatic for my whole life, life usually stood in the way of me finding time to enjoy live music. My ex wanted to see them so we went to an arena concert back in the early nineties. I could not imagine how it was humanly possible for them to make it sound as good as it did. Walked away with my jaw dropped.
Saw this show twice: once in Austin, once in Dallas. 35 years later I can remember moments from them both as clear as day.
The smell of weed will do that. My clothes still stink from Styx in Houston in 1980. Cornerstone tour
Was there in Austin as well, we are so lucky to have lived there at that time.
Best Rock band there ever was.❤️🔥🕊
I was participant of this show in June `89. The most impressive concert I´ve ever seen. And there were a lot.
One of the best concerts I’ve been too. Back in ‘87 if memory serves. Amazing sound love. David, Richard, and Nick absolutely killed it. The backup vocalists were out of this world!! A night to relive over and over.
When the master smiles .
David Pink Gilmour Floyd ...the best ever
Them women swayin to the song👍
I need to put this through my system asap. What a Christmas present, thank you !
Glad you liked it! Merry Christmas!
AWESOME! Never seen them live but this was the best band that ever played live or not.
Greatest band ever? They get my vote.Thousands of people have played the role of Sisyphus, pushing the boulder that is rock and roll music up the mountain, to what it was capable of becoming. It took Pink Floyd to get it there.
Hahahaha.......I clicked on the thumbnail only to post my appreciation for Rachel's unrivaled soul-gripping beauty. Seems many have beat me to it. Gilmour has never taken a back seat.....but maybe this time....
Пинк Флойд - это лучшее в мире, сравгимо с классикой ❤️❤️👍👏👏
YOU NEED TO BE .....High ...Drunk ....or ...Stoned !!!! THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE...TO BE ENJOYED ....IN AN ALTERED STATE ...MUSHROOMS are the best !!!! insane !!!!
Just wowwa!!! Incredible! Run scared the devil! Love pink Floyd always! Big fan since start. God speed!!
The difference between PINK FLOYD and other rock bands is that they associate their work with Space... And this means that their creative message is going up.. Spreading all over the Earth, regardless of what territory people live in, and what nationality they are.
I miss pink floyd so much
Same😢 here
These dudes are responsible for so many awakenings it's unreal. No one who ever truly listens to pink Floyd is ever the same again. My psychedelic experimentation was enhanced by the music of these modern prophets who's words of truth were amplified to a level that's undeniable and I thank God for blessing us with these enlightened creations of his. It's a rare thing to have individuals inspire so many in such a positive way in an industry that's consumed with ego, corruption and greed. These dudes inspire me to embrace love above all else and find the beauty in everything. Their music is inspired by the divine in a world that seems to be constantly trying to suppress it. No one who truly listens to their music is ever the same again. Wish all musicians understood the impact they can have and chose to always write from the perspective of love. It's far too rare anymore. Open hearts open minds
Rock on brother
I wish I was there back and 88. That was epic.!!!
THX KZhead for interrupting this brilliant song!!
If you're in android you have some free useful tools out there to solve those interruptions, make sure to give them a check. Cheers.
BESTEN DANK MEIN FREUND WÜNSCHE DIR UND DEINER FAMILIE SCHÖNE FESTTAGE UND EIN GENIALES 2023
Guy Pratt's bass work in this concert and the 3 sultry and poweful backup vocals (led by the incredibly sexy Ms. Rachel Fury) were criminally underrated. Ofc nothing beats the characteristic Floydian excellence, but the aforementioned non-permanent members made this performance straddle another level.
Amazing. Great sound and show lights and laser!!! Pink Floyd forever!!!
Le légendaire Floyd, rien à dire de plus, des génies du Rock !
You know, 35 years ago I was 36. Unfortunately I was still not able to attend the concert.
Me neither
We should catch up some time and talk about it.
Oh my, Guy Pratt looks like an absolute kid here... quite a bit different than when we just saw him with Saucerful of Secrets. Ain't none of us getting younger.
Aside from how BRILLIANT Pink Floyd is, the fact that you've taken something from 1988 and made it THIS GOOD might be the most amazing thing about this video. Bravo.
So happy you've enjoyed! I take much time working and experimenting to do these things, so read a comment like yours is a great motivation to keep this on, so thankful for your words. Cheers!
Spectacular re-engineering of a classic, congratulations on a job well done. ❤
Happy you've like it, thank you for the comment!
Great job thanks for the video and sound. Pink Floyd forever!
Happy you liked it, thank you for the comment and Merry Xmas!
Obi Wan, this might well be your Magnum Opus...to date. Thank you for my Christmas present and many blessings to you in the coming year of new Pink Floyd memories to enjoy. 🙏
Always happy to bring some emotions; happy holidays and the best in 2023 for you too!
Seen floyd live three times, cried my eyes out everytime at the sheer beauty and brilliance of thier music
LOVE THE 3 GIRLS DANCING, THEY WERE REALLY A DELIGHT!
Yes, Rachel Fury...
A well-chosen title image, I'd say. Bad luck we're 34 1/2 years further. I'd invite her for a coffee otherwise.
@@cismercier8009 : Aaaah! You romantic fool you.
@@carlosdm7899 She does kinda steal the scene doesn't she?
@@avi8r66 : They all do.
I remember this tour. Saw them in Montreal where they played for 3 nights at the forum. Never again did I see a show with so much energy.
I saw PF 12 days earlier at Manchester's main road football ground, my first proper concert............totally mind blowing!!
I saw them at the Dean Smith Center- Chapel Hill, N.C.-USA in 1988. Two weeks before this show. I was sitting in the cheapest seats in the rafters. I was AWSOME
Guy Pratt had already recorded with Micheal Jackson and Madonna by then, but that very night, oh boy... It must`ve been something else. Dude has become Pink Floyd royalty (as they say) in such an elegant, effective, discrete but expressive way that I must only be glad. Not to mention he's a freaking gentleman. Cheers!!!
Absolutely agree. Guy is amazing but because of virtualy "being in the Waters place" he gained a lot of non-sensical haters and never had the credit he deserve. Cheers and happy weekend.
Hello my friend!!! How are you? Happy 2023!! This music is wonderful, isn't it? Seeing Rachel too is a great feeling. Very beautiful! Take care! Success always! 😉
Hey Fer friend, happy new year man! I'm fine, still some partying over here but yet shaping some interesting new things to bring here soon that I guess you'll enjoy; now I have a newer and powerful pc that open the horizons some more. And sure thing, as I wrote here in other comment: Rachel is to women same as Floyd is to music, and together is a massive blast. So happy to know about you in this special day, take care you too and have a perfect year full of wonderful things! Cheers! 🍸🍾
@@TheForce_Productions Thank you my friend! I literally agree with you about Rachel!! I'll be waiting for your news! Strong hug!! Congratulations on the new computer.
There will never be bands like this again.
Danke. Fürs Senden ❤❤😂😂😂😂❤❤Danke
Thank you SOOOOO much for uploading this. It's like manna from heaven.
Well, the uploading thing was the easy part really haha, glad you liked it!
I was there in 1988 and saw them 2 times at Nassau Coliseum. They had 5 shows as they were filming Delicate Sound of Thunder. One of the best concerts ever!
First hit of acid 13 in 1973 to Floyd's music, I don't know if life was ever as perfect as that night.
I grew up with Pink. From when Syd was the lead singer and still have their first Album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, on Vinyl. I have all of their albums on Vinyl. CD and Tape Cassette. Saw them at the East Fremantle Oval in Western Australia in 1988. It was a blast and a concert I will never forget.
So grateful I was at Foxboro for this tour on this very day 35 years ago (May 8) … ‘Momentary Lapse …’ is such an underrated album, it deserves more appreciation for the work David did with Bob Ezrin polishing the beautiful notes … if ‘Run Like Hell’ was written in 1987, it became ‘One Slip’ … i saw them in 94 here at ASU Sun Devil as well … such a special live experience … few will ever be as masterfully crafted & aurally pleasing … thank you for sharing
Thank you for taking part, and happy 35 years!
My theater quality Boise system has a knock out punch volume that is always best in the acoustics of my music cave. I can't even turn it up halfway because the neighbors even way down the block become irate! There is an optimal volume in every song, concert and band that plays on YT, disc or live. You have done an incredible justice to this song! For those of us who were not at this concert, especially- this is a treat. Thank you Obi Wan, very much for doing the work to bring this with such great quality as can be!!! I guess troubled Waters couldn't make it, yet I can't hear this version as being played any better. Gilmore takes us into and maybe beyond the surreal. All be well !!! ~ RaVen ~
My shoulder hurts from 40 years of fist pumping. Not to mention the hearing loss. It’s been a long time since buying scalped tickets off the Meadowbrook’s exit ramp. Great video thanks!
And in the midst of it all shining brightly like a gleaming diamond is Rachel Fury, woman extraordinaire!
This is a beautiful rendition with clarity definition on video! Thanks!
Glad you're enjoying this one, thank you for stopping by and the kind comment, Merry Christmas!
Es la mejor interpretación en vivo de este tema (junto con la de Pulse en Londres en el '94 ); Run Like hell tal vez sea la creación más emblemática de Pink Floyd, la mejor banda de rock de la historia. Nunca veremos algo igual ni parecido.
Thank You for this present!!!
Thank you for stopping by and taking part, Merry Christmas!
Лучший бек вокал в свое время мне выпало счастье быть на концерте пинк флойд
saw Roger ten years ago and this song was stunning live even then. always gives me chills.
I hate Roger after he began to justify the Kremlin for his attack on Ukraine. This old guy has completely lost his mind. Scoundrel! Let Ukrainian children killed by Russian soldiers come to him in nightmares!
This tour was my only PF opportunity, saw them in Stanford Stadium on earthquake delay
Nice… thanks heaps, excellent work as always. Best wishes x New Zealand
Thank you for your support, cheers New Zealand and Merry Christmas!
That is Pink Fu… Floyd. Do I need to add anything else? Incredible 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Awesome tune after all these years.😊
I remember, when I drove my A5 cabrio through the wonderfuf streets if my Town in Friesland ( Germany) and listen loud this song and all People we passing by watched.
Rachel Fury oooohhhhh, oops to late I need to change my boxer's due to prematurely!!!!! 😂
My man in the L.A. Guns shirt! HELL YES!
Guy Pratt is a kid in these vids. Damn we all got old.
Hell yeah!!!!
The dancers were such an adult treat to this fabulous rendition. Very well done, and in perfectly good taste contrary to what seems the norm these days.
Rachel Fury was a particular treat
@@vincentbrannelly8786 She grabbed me from the first (of many) times I watched this VHS. "Something in the way she moves" came to mind immediately. She looks so tiny next to the other girls yet so steals the spotlight!
