The technique I've outlined is especially effective on those foreign dignitaries wearing epaulets and lots of medals, maybe a sash, so a rear admiral's wife would be perfect.

Multi tasking the old fashioned terminal way! :) I remember doing this! Midnight commander, directory Opus, Norton Commander, Windows Commander, Total Commander, it's all good.

CBM-Command is a relatively recent Commander / Opus style file manager for the C64. And if you're interested in a dual-pane file manager / ftp client for the Mac, I'm a big fan of ForkLift.

Somewhere around the mid 70´s (IIRC). Thompson brought UNIX with him to Berkeley and it´s from that we got BSD UNIX. The rest is of course history and what "UNIX" is today depends on if you are a lawyer or a BSD geek. MacOS is very much UNIX. In fact, I think they managed to get to be the first BSD based OS to get UNIX certification somewhere around 10.4 or 10.5.

It's one of any number of Easy Listening things I've found off the internet. Probably from BBC Ceefax pages. There's a lot of stuff that's been uploaded to KZhead along the way. I recognize the first tune as Clang Clang Clang Goes the Trolley from that Judy Garland musical, but I've amassed so much of this stuff now it would be hard to pinpoint where I pulled it from. It's worth noting that YT usually gives me a copyright notice, but it doesn't matter since I don't monetize.

No, it's on a Mac. One of the first things I do on every Mac I set up is install the Homebrew command line package manager. At it's core, macOS is a fork of BSD, and a lot of the most popular command line binaries are supported through Homebrew. I still use Linux whenever I can, but there are loads of Mac apps I haven't found suitable substitutes for.

I ought to make a video about how terrible it's gotten.
