This is my first GT game and as I’m now over 200hrs in let me just say that turning off all assist features right from the start and focusing on license test, I have become way better. I never move on until I’ve achieved gold and clean. Never been more obsessed with driving.

While I understand your reasoning on some of this, I would like to propose a bit of a counterpoint. I’m legally blind and can’t drive in real life, this game and others like it represent a way for me to get behind the wheel, if only virtually. While my lap times are not great, I have managed thus far to make my way about halfway through the career while using just about every assist the game throws at me, and I’m having a great time. Sure, I’m not going to top any leader boards, that’s for certain. But I love streaming the game and just hanging out wild being able to drive, just wanted to provide a bit of a counter perspective, but I love the video!
Of course, there are many good reasons to drive with the assistants switched on! 🙏 The statement is more aimed at the people who want to drive the best possible time. 😊

my biggest tip is something i use in life when riding my bikes (fireblade and R1). look where you want to go. for motorcycles there's this issue called target fixation where if youre at risk of crashing, and focus on the area you're trying to avoid, focusing on that area will make it more likely you hit it. so in sim racers, don't focus on the corners. focus on the track past the corners. your hand eye coordination will work on getting you through the corner. anyone reading this, give it a shot next time you play if you dont do this already. force yourself to focus beyond the turn and trust your instincts to react. look at pictures of dudes racing literbikes around corners. look at their helmets and the direction they're facing. they're never looking at the corner in front of them, but the track beyond the corner-where they want to go
I’ll never forget, for my work, calibration engineer, I needed to take a special driving test to drive our cars. And this is what the instructor told me. We had a challenge where they wetted the asphalt and then in an Impala, with ABS disabled we moved in S pattern where the goal was to not lose control and spin out.
as a CBR250R rider... I idolize you, stranger! Had a Fireblade pull up next to me on the freeway (obvs I was pinned and he had 4 more gears left) gave me the nod and peeled off. Still get goosebumps thinking about it. Anyway, when i got a rig, I bought a used PSVR set and this couldnt be more accurate. Solid advice.
i use the braking zone assist. for some turns its accurate but sometimes it can mark the brake point too early or to late and cause you to run wide. im familiar with most tracks enough to know to start braking before or after the mark in certain corners. i still like the reference because i have a tendency to focus too much on other things and the clear braking marker makes it easier to not miss when to start braking
The cone markers in GT Sport were so much better for this, I don't understand why they replaced them with that hideous braking zone thing.

I wish they had better ideal line and breaking assist things. In gt6 I was so good at learning tracks with that. Now not so much haha.
I'm diving in the deep end with this GT game. I run absolutely no hud, except for missions where I need to see my fuel map. It's absolutely transformed how difficult,.and fun the game is. You have to learn break zones, and use track markers like never before. It's super immersive
And if u master the curbs on some tracks and drive over them,u also gain lap times....that is how GT 7 is incredible....in the was that top 10 can cut corners and u do in same way,and get penalties,I have a lot of videos on PS5 where i cut same,even less than someone from leaderboard and was given penalty,even like I said,I was 3 cm more out than he or she.Not hatefull but game should be balanced for all so all have chance,I have decent lao times online and a lot of PP and wins,talking about ppl who drive for example with Ds5 or 4,for them,many lap times are impossible to achieve.
@@aleksandarprodic5218 finding the time on curbs is always amazing. The IA-10 license at the Nordschleife took me about an hour to gold, but there was a right hander where you could COMPLETELY cut the corner and get away with it. Saved me about half a second
GT sport had cool cone markers for breaking zones (so you don’t have to see a huge red breaking zone on the track), too bad GT7 doesn’t have them
Damn that's a shame, I used them all the time and they were pretty accurate to where you needed to actually break and hit the driving line
I definitely miss this as well. Maybe if we complain about it to the devs, we can get that feature back. They should make that optional.
I dont know why these corperations think its good to reinvent things. If it works leave it the fuck alone... another good example of this is online lobby. Back in gt6 u could start one make races, set a time when the race begins and it would just start automatically. So many features that was doing well, instead of copying or making minor tweaks to make it even better the idiots decided to change to whole thing from scratch and boi is it shitty.

There are actually now other "cues" on the tracks that you can use as brake markers. Next time you're on a track look around and you will slowly notice what the are.
You are totally wrong about the abs. Always leave it at default. It’s proven to be faster. Even all the pros use default abs
Maybe faster, but it certainly doesn't help you learn brake modulation, which I believe is the point.

@@bernardoteodosio And you don't become faster unless you yourself, have the skills to be fast. You don't see these pros and such slamming their brakes everywhere, they're still applying their skill while the abs is just making up for what skill can't. The point of running a weaker abs is to *gain* braking skill, which in turn will make you faster, similar to how learning with a slow car will improve your skill greater than a fast car will.
I never use ABS, but then again, I use a load cell brake.
@MidnightMarauder, no it's not. A load cell measures pressure rather than distance like a potentiometer, while ABS prevents brakes from locking up by pulsating the brakes.
Generally some good advice in this video, but since it's aimed solely at GT7, I think it's worth pointing out that 'Default' ABS - aka. the highest setting - is always the fastest way in GT7 and GTS. 'Weak' ABS is a few tenths slower. So yes, ABS should in fact be overused. - Sincerely a Gran Turismo European Finalist.

Abs is the only aid I use everything else is completely switched off including TC. I haven't tried setting the ABS to weak because I always felt that default was better on GT Sport. After reading some of the comments in here I was going to try it making an assumption that perhaps GT7 was different, but you have just confirmed what I already believed. I use Fanatec steering wheel and pedals, for clarity.
I'm such a realism buff, that if the car had no ABS, I run no ABS. I only do what options the car had, and I run no hud. I'm not going to be breaking records, but I bet I have more fun than almost anyone playing the game.

I think autodrive is designed as an accessibility feature, similar to the feature at FH5 implimented.

I've used gt7 and a force feedback wheel to teach my teenagers some driving skills. After they spin or hit walls, it's taught them some better control. Maybe not racing technique but adding or removing assists is a good way to see where your inputs can be better.
True, i love driving with less assists. The more realistic i can get the game to be the overall better. The way it responds to the tracks is so alike real like when I'm out riding with my crew. Or going to car events and seeing them basically take "flight"
One thing I have found about using the brake indicators. In GTS, the brake zone, when the assist was on, was 2 cones on the side of the track that you want to be on to enter the corner, i.e. left side means you want to be to the left side of the track. This is the beginning of the zone. Do you need to brake at the beginning of the zone for every corner? Initially, yes. Why? Because you first need to learn the corner. Once you know the corner, then you can start to adjust till you are meeting the maximum ability of your skill and the car's ability to maintain traction and stability while in the corner. Another thing to note when using the brake assist in GT7. It will teach you how to trail brake properly into the given corner. As you approach the corner, the lines will begin. If you are braking too hard, the lines will disappear before you hit the apex. If you are not braking enough, the lines will stay solid as you hit the apex, and you will usually go wide or off track. The sweet spot is figuring out how to brake as late as possible in such a way that once you enter trail braking, your car is maintaining the speed you need to clear the corner quickly. With this tool, you will become more consistent as well as do things like reduce fuel and tire usage. I laugh when I see someone who thinks they need to "Supera Brakey!!!!!!" every corner. That works for time trial but they usually find they have a horrible race pace because they are fast at the start and much slower at the end of the race due to extreme tire wear. One thing I have noted about GT7 brake assist. It's not right sometimes. At Daytona, they have you braking too late to maintain a stable line through the bus stop and in Turn 1. If you are using the brake assist and notice the car tries to spin at the braking area or the car is unstable entering the chicane or corner, brake a little earlier. Sometimes a lift before the braking area works. The thrust vector alignment they have set to be default will usually make the car unstable when you lift off the accelerator. You have to lift and allow the car to resettle before braking or you will induce a spin.
The driving school in gtsport really Helped me a ton with driving without assists. I feel like such a better driver after getting through that course.
I never understood the gatekeepers who say, "oh using abs and TC is unrealistic, your aren't playing the game properly if you use assets" Yet almost every race car built today uses these assists, TCR (depending) gt4, gt3 etc. I use ABS and TC, I would like not to use the racing line, but, I don't have hours to spend "learning a track". Just let people play the game they want to. This is not intended to be about the video creator, he's just explaining how to be faster. Just voicing how a lot of people act on these racing games
Agree 100%. As a former racing driver (IRL not a video game) I can tell you modern race cars absolutely have these assists and they help us be faster, not slower, when used properly.

It took some getting used to but honestly the TC can help possibly train people more into rolling on the power. I know it taught me that to where I can almost run with TC off on the majority of my builds. ABS to weak is honestly a must for me
Putting abs to weak loses you to much time you at disadvantage if everyone is at default. And yeah when first started I had tc 4 and slowly turn it down once I familiar with the track.
Good vid for starters. Find your own points, and even angle. You can brake if pointed into a turn slightly (trail.) Also amount of brakes before a fast sweeper doesnt mean full brake lol. Sometimes 1/4th of a touch of braking. Even on controller I think a big thing is amount of pressure. Sometimes a 1/2 slight push is only needed. That slight 1/2 hit maybe just perfect.
Just started driving after GT3 almost 20 years ago. Thank you for your tipps also nice discussion in the comments!! Subscribed. I still appreciate dynamic braking points too - just as an 'approximation'. I can find out in every race w new car AND new track after 2 rounds and also where I am able to brake later than suggested and in which ones I still need the full zone or even more but release earlier. Also the racing line helps me to have better overview where track to the horizon. Is there a downside to this? Maybe I will train later fully w/o in Live Sports-Mode.
After a while of playing the game and getting more used to the tracks\cars, I tried turning the brake area off as well as the dotted line, but kept the dynamic glowing red brake indicator on the bottom of the screen, where it also displays the recommended gear for the corner (dynamic effect without the visual aid on the road, neat!), I think it adds just the right amount of approximation as a tool as you mentioned

I've been playing GT since GT5 and I still use the brake warning. It's not as invasive as it is in GT7 in GT Sport but it's helped me a lot, as I don't play enough to memorise all the tracks and corners, and sometimes corners are hidden. I'd be lost without the correct gear indicator. I have however noticed that it tells you to brake way too soon so I usually give it a second before I do brake and make that judgement myself, sometimes using markers. I also find that it'll say to take a corner in 1st gear but doing it in gear 2 is perfectly fine!
Before all the lads get here foaming at the mouth over people using assists in a simulator - I love motorsport. With all my heart, especially rally/rallye driving. If there are ways for people to get the same level of enjoyment as I do without any assists whatsoever (kinda important in rally, there's a few techniques that depend on the safeties being off so to speak) then more power to them! :) It shouldn't be a closed-off experience for only the most talented drivers, it should be open and accessible to spread the love of driving to reach a wider audience. Just my two cents!
all assists off and abs on default, whilst i can control my braking without abs its just so much slower no matter what you do. If you dont know your car or track take a few practise laps and break using the gear indicator as a reference when to start braking. youll overshoot and mess up at first as it pretty much always is the very last moment you can start braking once it begins flashing but it will help you make your own references. it may also show up when you dont need to slow down at all but again its good for tracks you dont know until youve learnt them. I used it on an unknown track to me for my AI license and once id learnt the corners after around 10-15 tries i was outpacing the ghost. TC is not needed at all even for high powered cars though on 1 it can definitely give you better launches, adaptive triggers do a VERY good job of giving you a feel for when you are losing grip both for accelerating and deaccelerating, if you are spinning out your muscle car you are being too heavy on the accelerator. In tighter longer corners where your car tends to slide give around 20-25% throttle your car wont speed up but it will keep it very stable stopping you from sliding causing counter steering and slowing down your lap. finally turn stability off, learn to control an unstable car and you will get a much better feel for cornering speeds and have better throttle control, it wont be easy especially for newer players used to arcade racing games but it is definitely very rewarding and will help for when it comes to the drifting races.

I’m not the best with memory, so it’s a good idea to practice a track, learning the braking cues before you do the race. But when there’s a championship series, there’s so much to remember!
You have plenty of time to practice between 2 championships races. I usually make 2 or 3 time the race in private lobbies to know what to expect with tyre dammage and fuel cunsomption and to know which strategy is the best. Sometimes, you'd better start with the best tyres, sometimes you don't.
I unlocked a new track today, Catalunya. Difficult finding meter markers, but it took 5 laps in time trial to get braking cues perfected
Am I the only one who loves and uses the braking assist which makes the middle speedometer area glow red when needing to brake? I'm not even sure what this assist is called or how I have it but yeah, the speedometer goes from black to shades of red when getting closer to needing to brake. Its awesome because you can see it get red in your peripheral vision and instinctively know when to brake at the correct shade of red without having to have distracting lines on the road or having to take your eyes of the middle of the screen.
It's a less invasive alternative to the zones for sure. I played GT1-5 and now only occasionally GT7 with gamepad when being at a friend's home. In my opinion, it is a good initial reference, especially to avoid overshooting in hairpins on a new course but even I as a total n00b am usually trying to get (some) reference points down as quickly as possible. The glowing indicator usually comes in too early and distracts you from the track while you can anticipate and watch out for a reference point when approaching a corner. It's easier to count down the 150/100/50 markers than waiting for the red light flashing.
I like figuring out the braking zones or lines by myself/instinct. It just makes driving more fun. But also I agree with your points, the assists does make you significantly slower. If you need assists at all If you're a beginner, then all you really need is traction control to prevent spinning out. Everything else like abs or racing lines is not necessary. You can easily get used to controlling the brake effectively and learn racing lines just by practicing. Controlling the throttle may take more time for some people. I had a heavy foot long time ago.
Does not racing line make you that much faster? I think the only difference it makes is immersion
One thing that a lot of channels fail to address is controllers vs steering wheel controllers. Your needs for all these settings are contingent on what kind of controller you use. Some things are easier with a steering wheel and some are easier with a DualShock/dualsense, and they are not the same.
I like a challenge as much as anyone else but let’s face it, I tough to gauge depth perception in a game. I use the apex markers and the brake indicator that fills in red and flashes coupled with good old fashion instincts. This way I don’t rely too much on my intuition nor the games assists. It’s a good balance of referencing with the freedom to carve your own driving line that suites your style
I started playing with no help and manual transmission. It’s a lot of fun. And you feel free and responsible.
Don't forget that some cars are designed to race with abs and tc like gt3, gt4

For newer players, you can use cones for braking zones that dont distract you at all. It also gives you the ideal line without overwhelming your view.

It is about fun and the fine line between assists that support your driving style and assists that prevent good lap times and winning the race.
@@worldhello1234 Depends on what you want. Fun is why you go into it, but if you want a sim racing experience, and want to sim race, then what I said is applicable, if you want to relax and let the game assist you and play it like an arcade, that’s up to you. Nothing is better or worse, only if you’ve less fun over the other. Sim racing is a lot about muscle memory, if you drive with assist on, you constantly develop the wrong motions all over the place. It becomes a little bit here, and a little bit there, and that’s crucial otherwise you feed your brain with wrong information. Struggle in the beginning, purposely practice something you want to improve on and there’s tons of videos of pro sim drivers and real pro drivers giving all the theory and info for free.

@@Delimon007 I think remotely is the word to describe Gran Turismo, as it has always been in between arcade and sim racing, GT7 has just been a huge disappointment because of its predatory practices. But discussing the legitimacy of a particular game is a sim racing is a straw man in this context, because I’m speaking in a general sense, that’s applicable to all race games, and it’s not really my words precise, because that’s what real racing coaches are saying pros and the best sim racers. But I can add in also from my own life experiences that, if you want perfection and strife for that in whatever you want to improve at or become better at, one needs to realize that you achieve perfection by doing all the little things great. That’s universal. Whether it’s ACC, GT7, Need For Speed, F1 22, iracing that doesn’t matter it’s still applicable to all those games.
@@Christian_Bagger Call of Duty is not realistic yet people still use Aim Assist for Controllers. Remember, majority of gamers just wanna escape realism and have fun. I really do try my best to turn off as many Assists as possible on GT7, but there's only so much my brain can handle. If I were a real life Racer, I would happily turn off all the assists that make you slow and making tuning adjustments because I'd be using the same car so many times that it would become a part of me, plus it's my job so it's VERY important to get a podium. But when playing GT7, you use so many different cars. I like polishing turds, but this is beyond me. If the Mustang wants to oversteer like it's on ice, so be it, I just be more gentle on the throttle, easy peasy.
I hope the RWD on ice issue is fixed in a future update
stock default setups with most rear wheel drive cars are broken yes you can correct it with tuning but it shouldn't be necessary
@Kill Bill sorry you are just wrong. or have never tried GT7 or are using too many assists.
Problem with RWD cars. I hear you can use a rear weight ballast to help with the balancing. Or just lower your cars power, you'll probably run faster if your power is more usable.

I keep my ABS off. Sometimes I’m going way too fast and my car will spin out but I’ve managed to work with it I kind of expect the car to whip a certain way while racing. Great video!

I like the braking area to help me know roughly when to brake… as we all know sometimes you get “over focused” with other racers on track…. I use it as a safety to say hey you pay attention….. and the traction control thing YOU MUST USE at bare min 1…. Thankyou for helping to get rid of this 0 is faster nonsense…..
When you have brakes upgraded to race pads and carbon ceramic You can gauge your distance by the markers on the side of heavy brake zones. Depending on speed I try to brake right at the second marker
I don't know if 0 is faster, but he made it sound like it's impossible to drive a Mustang with TCS at 0. That's absurd, granted some cars are really snappy if you don't find a good tune, but most of my favorite cars to drive in the game are RWD.
I actually use the braking lines as a marker i.e. the 5th line in oll start braking. So I always brake way after the recommended starting spot
TC is an absolute necessity with the controller when driving in the rain. You can feel the tires start to spin with the triggers but steering angle is very difficult to match

TC on rain is mandatory, even in real life!

@@gianlucamelis9417 I haven't used TC once yet on any car. Only abs on weak because I can't feel the tires lock on the ps4 controller.
It seems that counter steering assist was always present in previous games. Try it out if using a controller, I use the middle setting. It allowed me to turn tc off with rwd cars by giving more time to react to loss of traction and correct with the throttle input directly. It effectively improves feedback despite interfering with the controls. Shame brake bias settings are still inconsistent, otherwise I'd run ABS off with all cars.

These silly visual assists destroy people's natural instincts and learning curves...Like the dumb 2d arrow on screen that is supposed to be pointing at an enemy grenade...But because the 2d image is so bright in contrast with the actual 3d position of the grenade and doesn't give any depth of field it actually leads the users to towards it instead of away. Half Life 2...No crap on screen just pure learning in a realistic 3d environment...Leading to superb learning curves, solid Gameplay, clarity, logic and rewarding challenge. Developers and gamers truly need to learn from this legendary design work.

There’s a million of them out there on trail braking just look up driver61 I believe it is he has tons of stuff on getting faster on track including trail braking it’s gonna be difficult to do on a gamepad but can be done

In the previous Gran Turismo games, i would always rely on the gear indicator to know when to brake (the gear indicator flashes when you need to break). But this is the first episode i play where that indicator seems to always flash too late. That's why i turned one the braking area assist. This way i can anticipate when the gear is gonna flash. Plus, when the braking area is way too big, you can still calculate easier when to brake by remembering that this specific area is too long (or too short in rare cases).
the flashing is pretty much spot on. but you have to exactly hit the brakes when it starts to flash and you have to do some trailbraking.

you have couple of red lines to brake, why you have to brake specifically at the first one? brake at the 3rd or 4th line if the first is too early so you don't have a "less than accurate" braking

It was a very humbling experience learning to sim race on GT5 with ABS/TC on even the lowest settings, and then moving to iRacing. I had to learn how to drive all over again.

good advice, the real tragedy of course is those that think they are great, post good lap times etc BUT STILL USE CONES/DRIVING LINE......
I drove using the GT Sport Auto-drive with the Go-Kart in a Nations Cup race I started 16th and ended 3rd. It works well with some tracks and karts/cars we have a race coming up soon (on GT7) at horse thief mile using the Kart I will be using auto braking and auto gears in that race.
All great advice for beginners in turismo, driving and racecraft. I'd love to see content makers do videos regarding " motorsports is a non contact sport " NOT " rubbing is racing "

As a more "seasoned" individual when I got GT7 almost a year ago I would advise anyone playing for the first time who has plenty of real driving experience, remember this is a driving simulator, by their claim, drive like on the street, don't throw it into a corner like an old video game. Take some time in a modest car, I'm a fan of a older M3 for balance and power, find your way and do those licens test, you will learn. Solid video.
After playing gt7 since release (and it being my first sim style racing game) i only recently, within the last couple months, stopped using any of the assists (besides abs). I found that the adaptative triggers on my ps5 controllers would offer enough resistance and feel to allow me to use any car in the game without any issues. Obviously some cars i have to be more careful but i can still get by with relative ease without any assists. Personally, the goal should be to get to a point where you dont need any of the assist. Granted what type of input you use will change how easy that is
7:26 Don't know if you've driven a Mustang IRL. But even with the factory TC you get the wheels spinning at high RPM on dry asphalt.
There are cars that are designed to race with tc, mostly modern cars

Throttle Control is your best friend here with or without TC. After you've hit the apex, you wanna start applying a small amount of throttle. Even once your car is facing straight, you don't want to slam the accelerator straight away.
The only assists I use are the braking indicator and weak abs. I have a habit of just not braking through a corner until it's too late and flying off the track, so a flashing red light def gets my attention to tell me, "Yo, you're almost at the point of no return." And since I don't have the cash atm to get a rig, I'm stuck with controller and don't have much precise pedal, or in this case trigger control. I prob should use TCS level one, but I do not, and end up losing traction occasionally because of my trigger control.
Auto drive is great, its the only way my 5yr old can play and enjoy, I'll ween it of over time.
I have all the assists off aside from abs on weak, my issue is the steering doesnt feel right. If the rear slides out you can counter it, but when it rapidly grips up, with the controller it wont let you steer back to straight quick enough, even with the sensitivity turned all the way up. Also it seems the game wont let you steer into understeer, making it hard to four wheel drift.
Always use the brake line.. especially if playing online... most people use it and even if you dont, it lets you see where the game is going to tell the other drivers to start braking.. really helps for knowing when to back out or go for a move
“Important here is to really focus on the braking points”. I drive a virtual car in a video game, accelerate and brake with fingers and steer with a thumb stick so that I can enjoy playing a video game without focusing hard.
The assists are helpful. ABs on default. The fastest gran turismo players use that setting. TC at 1. Countetsteer at low or off. Active stability management on. Those settings took 3 seconds off my time in the test championships.
Interesting. The only two I used were abs and TC and I still managed 2nd place finishes
ABS only... all those others are taking away your ability to learn how to play, and hurt lap times greatly. ASM and CSA are really dumb little "helpers" that only hurt you, make the game less fun, and ruin your driving ability. Use then if you feel like it, but with them on you don't even know how the game is played.
@@focussport countersteering assist is very useful on controllers. I think it was always present in previous games. I like to turn ABS off because it feels nicer (when the bias can be set correctly), I'm not into leaderboards or anything anyway.
I think using a controller counter steering is still “assisted” in some way even when it’s turned off - you have to manually counter steer but when you do it feels like it’s assisted in some way and not directly linked to controller input
Gonna probably have to retest now with the suspension update in this update now. RWD and AWD with a heavy RWD bias should be better to drive
I dont use no assists. No Marks on the road, no braking assists no traction control. Driving in manual. As you said Just dive in and earn it. I bought the GT and Playstation 3 Days ago. Before never had any console and didnt play nothing for 17 years. Well First 12 hrs were aweful. But i kinda got the sense and i have Nordschleife with M3 E92 480hp in 7:27-7:33 consistent. I dont say that going with no assist is a must go. But when you earn the fruits the harder way, it always feels the Best. 😊💪🏼💨😉
You can actually mitigate traction loss on the gas with differential tuning. I have a habit of setting the diff slightly more closed on acceleration than the initial diff, and braking way more open than either. Usually comes out to about: RWD Initial: 15-35 Accel: 10-30 Brake: 25-70 FWD Initial: 10-15 Accel: 5-10 Brake: 15-25 And I keep these numbers for AWD cars rear and front respectively. Diff and Suspension tuning have become vital for someone like me that enjoys drifting above all other driving activities.

i used braking zone and automatic gear. if u are beginner, i recommend using those assists. if u want to be more quicker then start with manual transmission and then without braking points.
I just got the PS VR 2 and I’m pairing it with my logitech G 29 which has a lot of play but still good. It is bringing me right back to Gran Turismo A-spec on the PS2 with my logitech driving force wheel that STILL WORKS! Lol I remember at one point I actually had the feel for it all but with the VR headset I get a nerve racking sense of speed. I’ve noticed that it’s taking time and lately I’ve been feeling “phantom G-forces” Crazy but I totally get that it takes time to learn the track and car. This is not an instant gratification game. It’s too real. I actually keep getting flashbacks of my car accident in a rain storm on highway 101. 😅
I'm still learning this game. I had to KZhead how to adjust the fuel usage meter not too long ago. Never knew there were different slides you can shift through on the bottom right corner of the screen while driving! Live and learn!

i used to be an arcade only player but then i got into GTsport and i remember when i used to lock the brakes every time
I never use traction control, i only put it on 1 when starting a race from the grid. At first it is hard to get right especially in cars that spin fast, but not using it helps you control the throttle better and you can put in Faster times

Tried my hand at Circuit Experience and oh boy they are though, will try with abs set to weak and TC set to 2
Also, learning to coast through the apex (no brakes, no throttle) on certain turns will vastly improve lap times
Hmm, not sure if I can agree with this - being off the throttle and brake isn't exactly quick driving... I remember a couple of race drivers saying that you should either be on one or the other to keep the car in some sort of balance and that if you're just coasting, that suggests you didn't slow down enough and are actually losing time doing so. In fact even my car's manual in real life suggests using a little bit of throttle when going around corners.
@@GaffaTV There are plenty of turns where it’s better to brake less, coast apex, and accelerate exit… also plenty of turns where you ease on/off throttle to get through at faster speeds
Yea I agree whole heartily by auto drive assist.. I try to tell a couple of my friends not to use this.. and of course they miss time the brake and throttle when cornering
not that big of a beginner, but watched to see if i missed anything. I can say that i pretty much just eyeball my braking
When you race online, you can still use the braking and guide line assists like you can offline. Is there a situation/race in GT7 (outside of an actual in person tournament) where assists are banned? If not, just play the game how you want.
2:15 If these lines distract you, you have a whole other problem.... And conveniently the A1 Ring had been picked where this area IS beginning WAY too soon every time no matter what car. EVERY other track it begins a bit early, spot on or even too late depending on the chosen car... i KNOW because i have switched that on 9 months ago and started playing GT7 with this help and it is still on after 40000 ingame kilometers. So don't just believe what is being said here, because it IS very helpful IF used right and best in conjunction with the follow-up tip of finding a reference point on the side of the track...... which isn't always possible like at Willow Springs..... finding a reference point here is hard to impossible.... there is nothing but sand around you.... If you leave this braking help on no one will judge you if they want you to succeed. If you feel comfortable turning it off, do at your own discretion. YOU are playing the game,YOU want to have a good time..... not someone handing out tips. They can play in whatever way they want.
Counter Steering should be in the list as well
When testing out a track start with TC at level 3 and after a few laps decrease until you drive at 0 TC assist and be literal seconds faster
I run with TC at 1 or 2 depending on the car. Sometimes 0 with slower cars. ABS I have on weak and then I keep the breaking zone on just in case I zone out on a straight lol. I know where to break later or shorter. My one question is what about shifting. How much time difference between Auto/Manuel.
I like the red lines for braking zones. They aren't always accurate, but once you know a track you can still use them as reference points whether you need to brake before you hit them or after
you should rather use the flashing gears. they are way more accurate as a braking indicator than the red zones

I need those brake zones I just forget when I need to brake and I slam right into a wall. I just learned where in the zone to do it
the next step of arcade racing games: the game does everything completely by itself. you just have to sit in front of the monitor and call it a race simulation. smh

Tip #6 if you on a wheel turn Countetsteer off it will save a couple of tenth this is a settings made for controller

to be fair i've been playing GT since GT6 but I find it much more fun to have a high hp rwd car and only run the braking indicator on the gauges... no other assists. TC & ABS set on 0.
I found the corner cones in Sport was the best assists for any racing I have played.

as long as they were still at their place. How many time did I wait for a cone that wasn't there anymore. surprise !!! I think the yellow sign is better, it will always be there and can be seen even if there is a car between us and the sign.

I agree with you a 100% Especially if you plan on racing daily Gr.3 and Gr.4 races you will need to turn auto drive system off and turn your ABS to weak If you plan on being competitive sure it's a learning curve like anything else in life but once you learn to drive without it you will be happy you did.. Also be patient spend time and learn the track drive it a 100 laps or more before you decide to go race at competitive a level... Just my $0.02
No point in setting ABS to weak. Several simracers have tested and confirmed ABS on default is "faster".

DON'T turn ABS to weak. it's the worst advise you can give to any GT player
I use racing lines and braking zones to help learn the courses. If you were a real world driver I’d imagine you’d know the course as if you built it. You don’t have to follow it like it’s the law, you use it like a reference until you know the tracks.
You make it sound like a real driver could be faster than a good AI ;-)

The thing is I keep the brake indicator on. The red bars were too intrusive. I've not got the free time to learn all the braking points on a track for each car. Sooo I'm quite happy to us it? But I find that when it's flashing brake that's a sign you've missed your braking point as the car always slides off if its flashing. As for TC I tend to have it off for road cars, and 2 for race cars. I also turn it up to 3 if its heavy rain. And upto 5 if I'm driving an old race car in the rain because I don't have time for that overly slippy nonsense after I've been at work all day.

This really depends on your tuning and build as well, the traction control. My mustang '15 sticks to the road like a f1 car even without traction control (with a little throttle control tho can't floor it every corner but no car can)
What do you think about ASM? I have it off currently but sometimes when I get tapped by another driver in an online race, I think it would help prevent a crash,no?

it's slower, but countersteer assist can be very good.
Only ABS weak, everything else off is the most fun I think. But that's using a wheel and pedals, never played it on a pad but can imagine at least some TC would be useful
I suggest not using any assists whatsoever, regardless of your experience with racing games. You’ll be much faster overall once you get used to it. All assists slow you down, effectively creating an artificial limit on how fast you can possibly be. Learn to drive without assists and you’ll have a far higher skill ceiling than someone that uses assists.
