You know what they say “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It’s the approach we see with car makers all over, and it’s also the “S” year strategy we saw from Apple in the past.
Samsung has never been known for sticking to a flagship design for a second year, but it begs to really ask ourselves just how important is it? Fact is, it’s pretty complicated to switch looks every year, and we even see how car makers use those iteration years to refine their product. So, what if? What if Samsung decided for the first time ever that it was time to give you a better phone, and not just better looks.
On one corner we have the Galaxy S23 Ultra, what Samsung calls as Ultra, Evolved. The company's latest and greatest flagship. On the other we have the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung’s first Note-worthy upgrade to this lineup, and also one of my favorite phones of last year. Whether you’re upgrading or considering getting the old model with a discount, it always begs to wonder just how much better can a phone get from one year to the next. I’m Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and let’s dive in to our comparison.
Sticking with my S22 Ultra, it's true, it is a beast!
I'm sticking with my S22 ultra for another year 👍🏿, great video.
Same, camera was the only worry for me, but it seems like it's not that much better to 2000 bucks again. Still a great phone though
@@Desi-Diary I agree 👍🏿
Exactly!
Yup. Keeping the S22U for another year. If the S23U screen was completely flat, I would have switched. I'm usually around a charger and also carry a backup power source if I need longer than a day's battery.
Smart move m gonna upgrade to s24u too..
Jaime, I've been following you and your Channel for... I don't know ages. You've always set the bar high in terms of professional reviews, videography and interesting content. Let there be many more years to come! 😊
I have the s22 since it first came out and I'm still in love with it. Probably gonna wait a couple more years before I upgrade
I was going to get the S 23 but I decided to save the extra grand.
Same. ..

Have you update system regurely?
@@rahadioshop6129 yes
I've used the s22 Ultra last year and i switched to the s23 Ultra. It's been a much better experience, smoothness, battery life and camera are all great on it.
The s23 Ultra's battery life is a lot better than the S22 Ultra I used!
Same
Im using the 22ultra since last june but I hate how stuttering the UI is. I tried the 23U in a store yesterday and its so much crispier and smoother I cant wait to switch. Im still considering the fold4 too. But 23u seems to be a great upgrade from the exynos.
@@Manydesign Your s22 ultra is exynos?
@@Ali_Kareem180 yes it is
I switched mainly because of battery life and overall feel. The s22 would get me trough the day, but in a heavy use day it always felt like I might need a charger. As it got bellow 70% it just kept dropping before your eyes. And the occasional Samsung stutters and overheating were not in line the premium high end feel of the phone. I don't switch phones often, but couldn't love the s22 enough to see me keeping it for 2 years. The s23 despite the same looks, is like a breath of fresh air. Amazing battery and effortless performance, it now finally matches the looks. I think it's the best Samsung of it's time, ever.
Can I ask does it still have the same smoothness? I also own the S22U as you've said the performance is just getting worse here.
i think u will tell the same thing next year :D but oke what ever u feel :)
this is exactly what everyone says when a new samsung phones released. planned obsolescence at it's finest. I have the note 10+ and had the same experience. Smooth and amazing for the first year or so, and then gradually starts stuttering and whatnot until it makes you want to get the next one... might be time to switch over to the google pixel but as someone who makes use of the s pen my options are limited to this and the fold smh
I'm glad I didn't get the s22 ultra when it came out even though I was so tempted to. The s23 ultra is everything good about the s22 ultra with a lot of improvements under the hood making it the perfect flagship currently.
Still rocking the Note 20 Ultra. When it gives out, I'll get another one from eBay. This time I'll get the Korean model so I can root it and keep up to date.
I got the exynos and it sucked. Wish I could get my hands on the snapdragon
Still got my note20 ultra as well for 2 years and 3 months Still a monster of a power user phone, but I do want the s22 ultra hopefully in May for my birthday
I'm clinging onto my note 20 but the touch screen hasn't worked for 8 months now and I can only use it with the S pen. Trying to decide between 22 and 23 to replace the old girl, no idea which to get...
@@sarahhilton8631 hahahaha same shit here. Dropped it and been using the s pen. Kinda get worries sometimes of people judging me.
@@touchmesama2590 yeah I've had that, a lot 😁🤦🏼♀️ can't wait to use my phone with one hand again..!
It's really tough to decide these days. So many great choices. I just pulled the trigger on s23 ultra because pixel 7pro offered half as much on the trade in, which negated the price difference. I love the little design differences they utilize. I love the way the timer counts the negative time once it goes off. I love the side panel. iOS has a real lack of these touches.
Yeah I was having a slight struggle with the decision here but the extra storage capacity sounds nice and better battery, also i get the samsung watch 6 for a much cheaper price alongside trading in the s22 ultra so I am deciding to get it i suppose.
I got my S22 Ultra 256GB for $300 when I traded in my S21 Ultra ($1,000 credit) to Samsung. Unless I see a deal on par or better than that, I'm sticking with what I've got.
@@Pocketnowswhy do you have an S after. Clown ass fraud 🤡💀
Great reviews man, I love how fast you say your name 😂
Really good video. I own an S22 Ultra, and your comparisons are very interesting. Well done 👍
Can i ask. I love al this newer tech. But having a 7" mate 20x. I know i would like a shorter but wider screen (i'm all thimbs) It seems tall and skinny is here to dominate the market but will we see anything with a similar dimensions to something like the single screen on a surface duo2?
Curious bro what is your daily user phone is it a Galaxy Ultra 22/23 or is it an iPhone latest or so u use both & if one or the other y is that one your go to phone , thanks 👍🏾great review as always
Always love to upgrade, But will stick to the 22 for now. Thank you for the review.
The Note 8 and Note 9 were almost the same... The Note 9 got some upgrades and updates, but they were very similar! How quickly we forget that Samsung has in fact does this before!
S6 and S7 are also a good example, as well as the s8 and s9
No they weren’t..
@@Pocketnow people just like to complain!!! I got S20+ and got as main driver S22 Ultra through Tmobile for $24.17 a month with $70 additional for unlimited with 40 GB Hotspot and free Netflix without commercials!!!! So I'm happy. Battery life in the S23U has definitely improved greatly over the S22U but I bought the ZeroLemon 10,000 mAh battery case for the Galaxy S23U. Now, the S23U battery never dies. What sucks is now my S23U has complete protection but my pockets aren't big enough for this size battery case. My pockets would need to be deep and wide as my mother's purse for it to fit into.
Yes, especially in my country with Exynos va Snapdragon. Upgraded from s22U to S23U for that reason alone
i'm sticking to my s22U maybe till s26U and hopefully they can keep the battery endurance like the s23U or better
Had my s23 ultra for a week now, love this phone. Buddy of mine has had an s22 ultra for about a month, still a solid phone.
Got the S22 ultra a year back and it's working just like the day I bought it. Will keep it for a couple of more years and then upgrade to a Fold .
What abouts battery?Is this snapdragon?
@@kostaskintzios1198 Yes this is the SD version in India. The battery life is good and no complaints till date. For my usage I get about 5 hours SOT and the battery lasts for 24 hrs from 100% to 15%.

Hey! I got the S22U refurb from Amazon and I had to return it as it has some horrible overshapening. I swore off of Samsung but since the S23U, I've seen much better image processing. Do u notice the agressive sharpening on your S22U?
@Nipun Sharma Yes there is sharpening of images but not to the level where it seems unoriginal.
Upgrading from the 21u I differently noticed the upgrade. Smoother and feels less buggy.
Made the upgrade and gave the S22 Ultra to my wife. More than she'll ever need. Both great phones. Honestly the upgrade was not necessary but I do appreciate the few things that improved with this one, specially the battery life.
My S22 Ultra has become a beast since it's release. I've never seen the Low Battery Warning, if there is one.. Doesn't get hot, I use it all day & I have it paired to my Watch 5 Pro & Tab S7+ in the seamless Samsung Ecosystem. I used to be an iphone User but if you've held 1 iphone? You held them all!
does it get hot whilr gaming?
I Like how the way you explain on each specs it brightens me which one i should buy.
Does anyone know if I can use the same screen protector on both?
Usually I've been in the "upgrade once a year" crowd but the S20 Ultra was so good that I held onto it until this year. So I pre-ordered a 512GB Graphite model and have been loving the upgrade immensely. Wish they made an S23 Ultra without the S-pen and a bigger battery, but absolutely love everything else about the phone. Usually finish the day with 45-55% battery and 4-5hrs of SOT.
That's the 21 ultra
I usually get 4-5 SOT with a full charge on my s22 ultra
The s23 ultra without an spen is the S23 plus,it doesn’t have a bigger battery but having a smaller screen makes it seem like it does. The only reason to get the ultra is the spen, otherwise I won’t even think about it,and the s23 and the s23 plus exist just for the sake of it.
@alexz1189 yeah the bigger screen, zoom lens, and battery are the main reasons to put up with the S-pen.
@@Gary_HTX i don't share the amazement over that stupid zoom lens of the majority, frankly i can live without it just fine. As for the screen 6.8 inches is somewhat cumbersome,at this point i'd rather get myself a fold and call it a day.I find my sweet spot to be 6.1 inches, after having 5.8 and 6.7 phones before, the 6.7 was a burden in my pocket cuz of my job,i'm required to crouch a lot under train carts to check their braking systems before departure, and found the phone nagging my ribs and stomach. I thought the s23 plus had 5000 mah as the ultra, after further inspection i found out it's 4500 mah which is a dick move from samsung as there are a lot of devices out there at 6.6 inches that have 5000 mah batteries and faster charging speeds at half of the price of an s23 plus,so yeah...solid proof that samsung became the apple of android in which you pay more for less, just because of the brand.....shame. All in all.the only reason i would buy the ultra is the integrated S pen with higlight on integrated,as i don't care if it has support for s pen but no space for it in the housing,if the plus and even the simple s23 had that i would never shell out money for the ultra.
I just got a great deal on the S22 Ultra in the same colour as yours in the video, and I'm loving it. For the price I paid for it, I can live without the differences between the two.
How much did you end up paying?

I'll be keeping my S22 Ultra for another year...also the S22 has One UI 5.1
The angle shouldn't be about upgrading. But about buying one of the two. So, if someone's thinking about buying one of the two, is the reduced S22 Ultra slashed prices enough to justify to buy into last year flagship?
Jaime, well sumarized... definitely worth the upgrade.
Thinking 💭 about getting the s22 ultra I just got the s21+ am new to samsung as I been on the apple side of the world since 2017. Good video 📹 sir
The S22 Ultra (my favorite Samsung since the S5) has been so dang reliable this past year and a half, I think I'll wait for the next one.

In Europe its been the biggest upgrade for us forever, finally, Snapdragon rather than Exynos
I was going to trade in my s22 ultra but the trade in deals not as good as the year before, Hey Samsung give me a better deal!
Was gonna trade my S20+ for a S23 Ultra 512 Gb for $200 but still owed on my S22 Ultra so couldn't do at launch trough Tmobile!!! Yeah only real deals were through carriers. Got my S22 Ultra through Tmobile and paying $27.17 per month for 2 years and got 40 GB Hotspot with free basic Netflix without ads for unlimited everything for an additional $70 per mth which is pretty good!!! @@DENVEROUTDOORMAN Over a year a go I bought s20+ demo model from Best Buy, I paid $500 for it When the s22 Ultra came out it little over $ 1100, Samsung gave me $625 trade in balance due was about $519 with tax was a good deal for me to upgrade. Now they will give me $700 wit a balance about almost $700 more from me for 512 gig model. other than the storage size there id not big difference between the s22 and the s23, I'd like to see a better offer from Samsung. maybe I'm cheap!!
Why they removed edge?
I have the 22 ultra. I was on the fence about switching to the 23u. But after this video, there's not enough major differences for me to make the jump and spend more money. Honestly, if you're torn, and price is a concern, then definitely go with s22u. If price doesn't matter, grab the 23u.
exactly never worth jumping into the new phone hype, phones get wear and tear over time and the newest versions almost always don't offer the best bang for the buck. s22u is the best cost benefit high tier phone at the moment, I prob won't upgrade til 26u releases lol. No reason to honestly since the improvements are negligible unless you're using it for gaming or professional night videos/pictures.
I'm waiting until the END of YEAR Samsung sale I can't imagine paying 500.00 bucks or more right now this phone is kinda amazing so yeah I'll wait it out patiently
@@katinasoutherland7693 this phone is amazing its worth it at current price range idk if it will get any cheaper
I totally agree. I was going to buy the S 23 ultra but its not a major improvement. And I will save myself at least a thousand dollars.
true but imagine a much better functionning s22 ultra? the issue with s22 ultra Is really the shitty battery... and the pour exécution that makes It feels cheap... s23 ultra Is liké what s22 ultra should Have been in the beginning!
I have an S22U and don't plan to change it for a while. Everything is very smooth and just like it should be in a flagship. Even the battery. 4hrs SoT from 85% to 35% and from 7am till 11pm. Upgrading isn't justified, at least not changing it for the S23U. Idk for S24U , because historically Qualcomm has missed a year with its processors (1 yes and 1 no) so I'm not very optimistic for SD 8gen3. Maybe I'll change when S25U is released :D
For Europe, the upgrade from S22 to S23 is a big deal because we finally got rid of the Exynos chip and got the Snapdragon as well.
Ha! Great point. Forgot about that. That’s a must upgrade then
@@Pocketnow you suck
@@Pocketnow Yup, the exact upgrade I did 😁 The battery life is a night and day difference.

I have two units. No issues 🤷🏻♂️
I'm still using my Note 10+ and I'm considering an upgrade. Dont know what I should get. The S22 Ultra, S23 Ultra or wait until the next phone releases?
I got an almost brand new S22 Ultra for $800( my mobile data fee is less than $10 a month). I love flagships, but I don't want to spend over $1000, and I use an iPhone for my work, so battery life doesn't matter. A one year old Android flagship is a super deal imo.
Got my S22 Ultra for $800 off trading my Note 9
@DENVEROUTDOORMAN That's cool as long as your running cost( data fee) is not high.
I’m your fan from India n just love your super slick reviews
Already have the s22 Ultra and since there is 4 years support i'll hold on to it until then and get most from the phone and for the money.
When I got the note 10 plus the speakers were blast first ever phone I own cause I was on a note 5
I decided to upgrade from Note 20 Ultra to S22 and boy was it worth it! The fingerprint detection is so fast, I'm pretty sure my phone knows me better than I know myself. And don't even get me started on the camera! It's like having a professional photographer in your pocket.
the battery life is awesome on the s23 ultra, and compared to all the samsung flagships I owned it's the only one that doesn't heat up 👍 made the right choice and waited for it, although the discounts on the older model were very hard to ignore
I feel like everyone says that every year, but then when I get it, it heats up lol Is it really that different? I currently have the s22
@@MisaelMatute76 I totally understand you 🤣 The story goes like this: It was november 2019 when I was looking for a replacement for my OP 5T, I hated Samsung phones for ages, I was tempted to buy an OP 7pro when I saw the note 10 plus in the store. I bought it and was disappointed with the software, with the battery, the screen brightness was lower than on the 5T. After a couple of month I sold it and bought a xiaomi poco f2 pro, best phone, good battery life, uninterrupted screen. After a couple of weeks the popup camera stopped working and start overheating. After that I bought the Oppo reno 10x zoom 5g, the best phone I ever owned, great battery life, uninterrupted screen, nice software, nice cameras. After a couple of months I bought the note 20 ultra, lag city, screen brightness got dimmer if I was using chrome or maps, and the battery was terrible. Sold it, I tried a couple of Oneplus (8t, 8 pro) returned them both and stick with my Oppo, I tried for a couple of month the zenfone 7, great phone but the lack of a decent case was a big let down for me, the phone being too heavy and slippery. I bought the s21 ultra, great battery life for a samsung but the screen brightness problem and dumb software was enough for me to sell it. I bought the OP 9 pro, ticked all the boxes for me for a couple of months, but wanted something better with a better battery life. I bought the s22 plus, I didn't like the ultra becauce having the last 2 notes with a curved screen the s pen was pointless on the edges. And then I heard about Samsung ditching the exynos 😍 and seeing all that 8gen2 goodness, with great battery life efficiency and great thermals, I gave the s22 plus to my wife and waited patiently for the s23 ultra. Now, I can tell you, while every year I was hearing the same thing, Samsung is best, samsung is that, samsung makes the best screens, one ui is the best , it really made me puke, I knew it wasn't true and I know for a fact that youtubers are paid to say all the nice things about them. So I pre-ordered it to see how it goes. Got the phone, charged it to 100 percent, and then set it up, with accounts files, etc.. And then I used the phone, one hour , 2 hours, 3, 4.. and I was like, what the... My second day from 100 percent to 12% got me 11 hours 🙉 I hate one ui and Samsung fanboys but if you want battery life and no overheating you get this phone 👍 Edit: 11 hours of SoT, with max and extra brightness enabled 👏
@@MisaelMatute76 I can give you my current stats: I'm on 22% 9 hours 20 minutes of SoT max brightness with extra brightness enabled 4 hours of youtube 2 hours of chrome 1 hour of maps 1.5 hours of waze

@@MisaelMatute76 it's because of 8 gen 2.. Just wait and get s24.. If you have option to trade then change it.. Even the base s23 has very good battery..
Despite hardcore selling by some, unless you need the extra battery life or more FPS in intensive games, currently, there are few reasons to upgrade to S23U, bearing in mind the cost in some regions (£1400 for 12GB in the UK). The caveat is that Exynos users with a dodgy Exynos S22U will jump at getting rid of that crap. I traded in my Exynos and am now getting an experience with the S23U closer to my OPPO Find X5 Pro, though still behind in smoothness, animations and performance in day-to-day use. However, despite the early rave reviews for the camera, which could have been more accurate, they have disappointed significantly. I have stopped using it and await the camera update, which is due soon. I am back to my OPPO, which has far better results. Thankfully, buyers no longer have to suffer Samsung-made chips, and we are finally getting what we should expect. Nothing above the norm for the SD8G2, but the chip is no longer a BIG negative. There are still better phones out there for photos and videography as Samsung is still relying on old, outdated optics in most of their lenses, and most of us would prefer one inch, 50mp primary rather than bragging rights on 200mp.
I'm lucky I got the Snapdragon s22 ultra. So I'm sticking for another year or 2
@@peteradeosun6736 yes, they were much better and if I got a good one I would have also waited for the S24u. You are not missing out on much with the s23u as the 200mp camera is not better than last year's primary (ATM).
My S22 Ultra is better in Sept 2033 than ever. Not even a micro scratch anywhere on it. A day for me, I wake up at 5:30a grab my phone off wireless charger, pair it to my Watch 5 Pro. Then get the boat ready here in SE Texas & head out for a day of fishing. Then I connect my Ultra to my Bluetooth speakers on the boat & get back around 6:30p to 7p. Everything goes back on charge at 9 or 10pm & the S22 Ultra has never dropped less than 50% battery life. I'm retired, so I have my phone in my hand or on me all day, every day. I'm still learning everything it has to offer me & I got it on release date!
I have both. The 23 Ultra is better at most things. Small nit is that it needs more frequent restarts
Battery life and gaming performance and a bit of the camera performance is what you will get with the S23U. I know cuz I'm using the S23U. I traded my S22U for this.
Also feels better to hold as it's not as curved
So, I went for old with a discount. I didn't have a relevant phone to trade-in (coming from an S9 with a spare S10e), so the cost of an unlocked S23 Ultra would have ended up being over $1000 before taxes. I was able to get a certified refurb from Best Buy for the S22 Ultra at about $700 all-in ($704 I belive total). Paired with 24 months financing, it was a no-brainer for me. I'm sure there are things that the S23 will do better, but I think bang for the buck, the S22 at $700 vs the S23 at $1100+ makes the performance/dollar scale tip well into the favor of the S22. I'm already amazed at how far editing on mobile has come. This phone is doing better in the stock photo editor than my business class laptop can in PhotoShop lol. At least in render time and simplicity.
I would get the s23 Ultra only if I didn't have to pay for it. If I can trade in my 22U for it and pay nothing more out of pocket, absolutely. Even the initial promo deals were relatively tame compared to when I switched from my s21FE to the 22U, which I paid nothing for.
Samsung only got me into upgrading after I damaged my display on the S21 Ultra. Thank goodness the screen wasn't cracked, or I would not have been able to turn it in. I ended up paying a little over $300. I love how I can use the s22 ultra as an external drawing pad with the Super display app. Edit: i think I have to wait for the price to go down to make the upgrade because it insane to upgrade to s23 ultra right now. I went from an LG Stylo 4 to a motorola, then to a samsung s21 ultra. The random brand switch was because LG stylo were no longer being made. The motorola was a blur, so I don't remember which phone it was.
@hardyjoe4278 This is similar to when I switched from LG to Samsung. iNever want an iAnything, so I had to go with Samsung. I was a staunch Blackberry owner who switched to LG (G5 to G6 to G8X to V30 to V60). I only switched to Samsung because LG stopped making phones. Nevertheless, I ended up getting a S23U through a really good deal with Google Fi, and I must say it's a GREAT phone to be honest.
My insurance didn't have the s22 so I'm getting the S23, looking forward to the extra storage and battery life. I LOVE the camera on these phones!
My 22 has a cracked screen, Samsung made me a offer and now O;m upgrading to the 23 ultra at a discount. Fix my s22 screen would be over 250, I got 600 discount on for a trade in and since my s22 was free due to another trade in my Note10 It's hard not to upgrade. It's crazy how Trade in and special deals will make these phone cheap AF.
Still has the cornered edges?
After the one ui update for my S22 ultra..my battery life improve a lot..🙂
And it seems to run smoother
I thought it was very informative. I wish there were more color choices.
Th screen it's different, its built with different materials, and the cooling system also improved. BTw. Samsung it's going to release a huge patch for the cameras next month, then it will be interesting to make this comparison again. They will fix halos in nighmode, better interpretation of the pictures and fast shots,
Great video, Very instructive, But I have a constructive suggestion. Please, stop switching old and new on the left or right. In your videos try to keep the same phone on one side, Be careful when showing specs to keep the phones on the same side. It gets confusing when you switch the newer phone from the left to the right side. [example 3:04 new phone on left, 5:16 the new phone is on the right]
We all knew the only reason to upgrade would be close to an even swap, anything else is impulse and anxiety. The upgrades are great but the s22u was there last year. The battery anxiety, extra 1-2hrs or extra fps is nice but not for anything less than an even exchange. If the cost were say 500 or less sure. People like myself have invested in the 22u with numerous cases over 20. I knew this was the phone to keep so the small extras don't do that much for me especially when I've been upgrading every year since the note 8. Maybe the 24, if not definitely the 25. We're in good shape for now. Other KZhead videos will have you to believe there's a massive difference but there's not, be smart, learn your device and you'll see it's just as capable.
im using an s10 and thinking to upgrade, looking for something value for money, was thinking s22 ultra to save some bucks. Should i spend more for an s23 ultra?
or maybe go for the smaller s23/23+ instead?
just realise the biggest bummer is exynos variant s22 ultra 😢 might as well go for s23/s23+
I had the S22+ and from what I heard the S22 Ultra wasn't much better for battery so that would be my closest comparison, I have the S23 Ultra and it's definitely an upgrade, battery and experience wise. My only negative is that there seems to be a wifi-6 issue that seems to be going around and mine has been affected by it, so loading something takes a hot minute. It won't replace my iPhone as my main driver but definitely something I'd take overseas and not have battery anxiety.
So you just leave an S23 Ultra laying around while you use your iPhone day to day? Or switch?

I'll be waiting on the s25 ultra
My s22 ultra is getting better and better maybe the 23 will be the same as more updates will come. The advantage is the new processor and camera.
It's so weird how the new one has less grain and noise in its video, but more in low light photos. Which I 100% agree with. It's low light video is beautiful. Low light photos, not so much. Over sharpened and noisy
Damn this was helpful but the camera part still makes it hard. I want the battery life and for my phone not to overheat so much... but that camera man....I don't like that s23 camera comparison better than my s22 tbh that's the most important to me. I might wait and see wassup with the s24
Sir magkano ang s 23 ngaun?
I got the s22 ultra . Ill switch prolly in 2 years . Phones arent outdated overall anymore . They function good enough to get the job done . Dont be a victim of the upsell
Why are u repeating extra storage ans ram ? My 22U have more and my note10+ have in basic more than the s23u
In uk.. just swapped s21ulta to s23 ultra ... love it
The upgrade is huge. No question to get the s23u
23 is a powerhouse and the only Samsung with Snapdragon only 😉 this is the important one from this generation 20 till now that they perfected to the dot.
When I stood with S22 Ultra mobile in front of the mirror, it appeared to me to be S22 and not S23.
If you are more into mobile videography, go for s23 Ultra. But if you are more into photography, s22 Ultra pictures including night mode pictures are much better than s23 Ultra. I own s22 Ultra and recently got s23 Ultra too. After doing image and video comparison, I found s22 Ultra images are less grainy, sharper (less sharp after April update), more clear, basically overall better than s23 Ultra. But in s23 Ultra colours are more accurate, especially skin tones, sky colours, reds are very close to natural colour. The videos are definitely better than s22 Ultra. Surprisingly, shadow areas are grainier in pictures, but video of the same shadow areas has no grains in s23 Ultra. And obviously no grains in s22 Ultra. After April update, selfie video quality has improved a lot in s22 Ultra. So, overall s22 Ultra is more stable in terms of camera performance. Upgrading to s23 Ultra from s22 Ultra is a waste of money unless you are more into mobile videography than photography.
So s22 ultra is the better buy yea?
@@davidbruzer If you don't have s22 Ultra, then go for s23 Ultra. If you already have s22 Ultra, then as per my personal experience, upgrading to s23 Ultra is not a wise decision. However, you can go to a shop and compare both the phones and decide.
@niteshapte ok I currently have the s22 ultra so no need to upgrade no?
@@TuerTue I only speak English language
@davidbruzer No. Because I upgraded and regretted. I would still say that it's better to go to a shop and do a comparison and then decide.
AT&T used to give the S23 ultra for like $1000 off with ANY trade in even like a $20 galaxy s3. I feel like I should have done that but right now I have a fully paid off regular galaxy S20.
I upgraded because my S22U stopped holding a signal. So glad I did. A mad beast of a phone .
Generally agree with your comments with one big exception as here in the UK we suffered the Exynos chip. It was a no brainer to bin the S22 Ultra and upgrade to the S23ultra. The difference is really noticeable especially in battery life & speed. The S23 Ultra aIso doesn't get as warm. Overall I'm very pleased I traded in the S22 Ultra which I really didn't like & to prove the point, my wife normally gets the hand down and we trade in her mobile but she stuck with the S21 Ultra.
Thank you for this, both are great but I rather save my money
s22u u can buy it now around 700 usd no battery and storage worth 500 usd... the s22u still performs close to the s23u the camera almost the same. the s pen and the one ui is the same. the looks almost the same. not rly woth to upgrade for a few years i think.
Great video Jaime. I am still on the question whether I should trade in my S21U for an S23U despite owning an S22U or maybe just trading in my S22U and keeping my S21U. I really love my S21U but i don’t want to trade it in to get the S23U cheaper.
I just don’t think your S21 Ultra will continue aging well after this year
Everyone is talking about the battery on S23U to me I didn't notice the difference between 22U and 23U it looks the same to me when it comes to battery performance 😐
The battery life is amazing on both. I was getting 8 hours screen on time with well over 24 hours per charge on the s22 ultra exynos. My s23 ultra gets over 11 hours screen on time with over 30 hours per charge.
How on s22u, I get like 4
My S22ultra is Snapdragon 8 gen 1 and the battery life i get 6-7 hrs.
Put apps to sleep that don't need to run in the background. Despite what people say about the exynos I think it had better battery life from what iv read and from people iv talked to
@@johngardner869 I love my S22ultra snapdragon variant its a killer phone but I don't like it's Battery performance.Anyway Love Samsung.
There is not any possibility for exynos version to have excellent battery life come on....
Something interesting is I sold my s22 ultra because it was not getting past 4 hrs sot. Recently I got rid of my pixel 7 pro and got the s22 ultra again and I get close to 7 hrs sot. I wonder if there is a lottery with these phones or is one ui 5.1 more efficient with battery life. Either way, I get better battery life than the pixel 7 pro and my old s22 ultra
I had s22u and the battery life improved with updates. Maybe their AI battery life optimization also had a hand in it, but it got much better with time.
Sometimes is a lottery just like you said , I had different experiences with the same model
Yep wiping cache works wonders as well, after some of these updates the phone is slow to optimize properly or get the results you had prior, same thing with out of the box. Wipe cache a few times and you should get awesome results. The other thing is limiting battery and data hungry apps. A quick search will show the how to. Small maintenance for the product you get in return
I've had both ain't really noticed much difference maybe battery.
Geez all day I'm wondering which 1 to get,I have a Samsung a01 right now but wondering which 1 to upgrade to ss2 or s23 🤔
Oh I got the s23 btw...it's amazing!!!
@@terryakamadcat how are you liking it now?
@jessemartel3878 it's amazing mane,never could of ask for a better phone really a good buy...camera..space...super fast..the battery! 💯
I loved my s22u my hady old note 20u and dropped it in water so I gave him the s22u and upgraded to the s23u and I love it ❤
I will stick to my Samsung Ultra S22, as there has not been any major changes. Will wait another year before I will decide to upgrade or not. The S22 is a great phone.
Let's be honest outside US S22U was a major purchase to continue a journey with what was the Note. You didn't actually pay for your investment. As all is a subtle upgrade, it has more work to do before retiring it just yet.
I think the speakers in s23u are upgraded! 2:55 😊
Flater edges is the reason why I upgraded from 22 U. Worth the 500, trade in .
Best Note 9-better volum button location, better fingerprint position, bottom speaker is better positioned. Bad from Samsung that is not provinding software updates.
