Slow burner, but now an absolute favourite.Slipped by me first few listens - such a clever and subtle production. I'd coincidentally just discovered Monica Martin's music, and she's great on that track
Absolutely! One of my favourites, sounds like a dream.
I think the singing on all the tracks is perfected, but this track in particular I would say has some of the best writing. It’s absolutely devastating, and you can really feel the abandonment he has been holding in.
In this track you hear all the complete utter heartbreak from being deprived from his lover but in the end still wants to best for them
james blake...a genius who can both make the most badass beat, and the saddest ballads.

James Blake has evolved beautifully as a musician. He has range, very creative lyrics and production, and I get a chill humble vibe from him. Say What You Will is probably my favorite song of 2021 so far
he didnt evolve, he just changed his sound to more approachable (its not a bad thing tho) but Overgrown is still his best album and Retrograde and Overgrown are one of the greatest songs that was ever created.
@@smartguy8219 I do agree his newer music is more accessible but imo he improved upon his already great sound by being more vulnerable and using all elements of his sounds (voice, production, unique instrumentation) which I think makes this one of his best albums ever
James Blake is his own genre. I've seen him live 3 times. I cried at EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. He's my favorite artist next to Erykah Badu...for obvious reasons. They pour their souls into their work in such an intentional way that it's impossible not to get lost in it.

His earlier EP's were real dope too, 200 Press EP just been taken off Spotify though

Seeing this performed live was an absolutely transcendent performance. Highly recommend seeing him live some day if you can. Absolutely beautiful show. His live rendition of Don’t Miss It brings me to tears.

One of my bed time albums, don’t take that the wrong way but his music really calms me down
I think anyone that listens to James’ music can agree that his music makes amazing lullabies lol and I don’t think it’s necessarily bad that it puts you to sleep, I think it’s a testament to how ethereal and mesmerizing his sound is. The whole album is definitely in my bedtime playlist as well, and I might cry a bit but I’ll sleep better than ever 😂

Frozen is actually one of the best songs I've heard all year right next to Knees by Injury Reserve. Absolutely incredible songs

I just lost my friendship very close friend of 6 years due to me developing feelings this year kinda outta nowhere, and it didn't go well lol. So this album hits very very hard for me. James Blake has made me an album for me at the lowest of lows I listen to TCIA and when I'm in a loving mood Assume Form. And now this album. Truly spectacular artists

The first time I heard the opening song, I knew I was gonna love the whole album
I love your reactions because you really feel the music, like you can't even choose to like it or not, your body just fully react to it, I experience it the same way, and the album made me cry and recoil, it went trough my spine straight away (Frank Ocean does that to me too). The down side is that for a reaction channel we can see when you kind of faking it for views, like it's obvious Lana Del Rey doesn't do it for you anymore and it's just business now, (not a reproche, I'm the same, it's not as mesmerizing anymore). So I'm just happy to see you really enjoying some music like here, it validates my own reaction somehow. Have a good one !
