  • Bene is so well trained. I'm impressed. I also use a wheel chair. I've an 8 yr old retired service dog who is a Labradane. Recently got a puppy to train he's a Danoodle. He's a puppy and wild. Very smart but he acts like he has ADHD so training has been slower.

    • Wow a labradane! Sounds like your retired SD was is a big dog. Danoodle...I've never heard of that. What is it? A Dane/Poodle? Wow! Way to go for taking on a puppy to train! That is a lot of work! How old is your pup?

  • What a good boy good job running him on the treadmill I wish I can afford to get my dog a treadmill but I just do it the old-fashioned way playing fetch until he gets tired but as my disability gets worse it gets harder and harder💜💜💜💜💜💜

    • Well done in doing what you can do! Fetch is a great way to get in exercise!! I don't' know if you are a wheelchair user at all, but when I don't have access to a treadmill, I run him at top speed in my chair. :) I'm sorry to hear that your disability is getting worse. I can understand how it would get hard. You do what you can for your dog and that is what is most important! 💜

  • OK so I have a service dog. She is a giant schnauzer and she is a medical alert and response service dog. She is allowed in hospitals when I don’t have a serious emergency but example if I am having a seizure, that is something that doctors can take care of once you’re in the hospital and you do not need the service dog so they will not let my dog into the hospital. If you have mobility issues or something, that’s a bit more serious then they have to let the dog into but for me I have epilepsy and when I go to the hospital it’s because I’m having a seizure so they won’t let the dog in because I am unconscious and will be transferred into a room where IVs will be put on me to control the seizures, but if it’s not something that is serious then your dog will be able to go with you.

  • Did you train him yourself? And if anyone does owner train got questions. I be training my own. My area does not have trainers for SD and only has them for the blind so I kind of have to do it myself. Not many trainers who can assist in guidance but. How does one owner train there SD to be prepared for hospitals or ambulances?

      @bertiesark@bertiesark2 жыл бұрын
    • Oh that is excellent you found a program to help train!! Service dogs are essential to those of us who need them. I'm so glad you have Stella! I love her name by the way.

      @IncredibleAnyway@IncredibleAnyway2 жыл бұрын
    • @@IncredibleAnyway Thank you and yes we need more programs and such for people who need these amazing creatures. Stella got her name from the man who she was meant for he named her at birth I believe or shortly after, I only got her because I spoke to the breeder on Monday and put my name in for next litter for a male, got a call Wednesday asking if I would take an older female. I said sure when she said now as Stella wouldn't be going to whom she was intended to because he ended up having massive heart attack and was in hospital for awhile. So that Friday I caught a ferry and went and picked up ten week old Stella and she was bonded to me before we left the ferry. It was meant to be for her to be my service dog as she self alerted to my heart, blood pressure and anxiety it was and still is unreal. Also I love your dogs name of Bene it is adorable. How old is Bene?

      @bertiesark@bertiesark2 жыл бұрын
    • Oh wow! Stella definitely was meant to be yours! Bene is short for Benevolence. The service dog organization puts on a naming auction whenever new puppies are born and people bid money to be able to name a puppy who will likely become a service dog. It's a fundraising opportunity for them. Bene's litter was called the "Inspiration" litter so the name had to be inspirational. He has a sister named Promise, brother named Victory. Bene is 4.5 years old.

    @wristdisabledwriter2893@wristdisabledwriter2893 Жыл бұрын
    • Service dogs can be on hospital beds. I imagine there are certain situations where it may not be appropriate or best for the handler or if the dog is in the way of what nursing needs to do ect. But in my situation, Bene stays out of they way and won’t eve budge if they are doing something to my line right next to his face.

    @servicedogskidboot@servicedogskidboot2 жыл бұрын
    • I'm sorry for the delayed response. Life got in the way. I got a thing of attachments and one of them is something hard to describe, but it can grip/secure around a round pole. I am using that attachment on the metal part of his harness. It moves when he shakes (you can see me frequently adjusting it), but it is the best thing I could figure out. I have tried many things and nothing else worked as well. You can *kinda* see it 7:29

    • Sorry I couldn't reply sooner- had severe vertigo yesterday. I take my service dog into the hospital every week. He has never had any problems. I'm not sure why ppl would be concerned about MRSA. My service dog, Bene, is in the hospital weekly and never has had an issue. He's never gotten sick.
