It cracked their coaching staff for sure, they thought it was going to be a shootout after the first quarter
Lamar didn’t crack. His coaches did. Every time he losses like this in the playoffs the coaches completely make the worst game plan for him. No reason the best rushing team doesn’t run the ball against a bad run defense. Happened in the titans game and this one. Will agree his INT was a bad decision and he over threw passes. But the play calling was garbage.
The Ravens were undisciplined, and Lamar either never looked comfortable and/or tried to do too much. The Ravens also abandoned the run, and Flowers acted like a dufus. All that is true. But one of the takeaways that I had was that the Ravens just didn't take what the Chiefs defense was giving them, which was a lot of potential lanes and check downs. Pretty surprised the Ravens couldn't adjust.
You're surprised that the QB that people have constantly said is bad at reading a defense couldn't make adjustments and read the defense?

And this is, sadly, the M.O. of the Harbaugh Ravens. No matter WHICH OC they bring in, at some point they all start looking like Cam Cameron! Yet Harbaugh always gets a pass. And fans keep paying to watch it. In a rigged/bookie-betting NFL.

Their idiotic yet predictable insane offensive "strategy", something that's hounded the entire Harbaugh (and even Billick) era is the culprit. The D did their job extremely well. The O $hit the bed.

The Ravens were the leading rushing team and they only called 6 run plays the entire game? After signing Dalvin Cook? He gets 0 touches, after getting 4 in a row last week.
One thing you can always appreciate about Chiefs in the post season is they act like they've been there before and hold their composure. It's always funny to see teams that have never been on that stage get emotional, lose focus, and basically become a lowlight reel of their regular season selves.

It was easy to tell which team had been there before. Raven's had zero control over their emotions.
whats pathetic though is that this has happened to the Ravens twice now. You'd think the 2019 disaster after their 14-2 season would've taught them a lesson.

I think the Ravens went in with the idea of getting a lead and then intimidating the Chiefs. When the Chiefts just marches right down the field twiice the wind just went out of their sails. After that the Ravens just seemed not to know what to do.
Which is what I feared would happen, and to no surprise to any long-time fan, it occurred. It's a microcosm of all that is wrong with the coaching philosophy under Harbaugh

In 6 playoff games Lamar Jackson has only completed 57% of his passes for 6 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He holds the ball too long and has been sacked 24 times and the Ravens have only won 2 of those 6 games. 🤷🏻♂️

Chiefs won the battle in the trenches it’s as simple as that. Ravens line got bullied all game and unfortunately they just didn’t perform well enough while behind. They spent most of this year dominating yet mahomes and chiefs came and put 7 on em right away and put that pressure on them

Lamar looked bad for the same reason Hurts suffered against Tampa. A defense with a disguised blitz designed to confused a mobile QB and a run game at the same time! Now offenses need to figure out how to best them.
1000% correct. To be able to disguise blitz packages is to create an uncertainty for both QB and blockers which can prevent them from executing the offensive game plan. Hard to stay on your front foot when you can't really know to properly interpret what you're seeing right in front of you.
Literally all they had to do was play their normal gameplan. 5-6 DBs on the field, and they refused to run the ball, as the best running team the NFL has ever seen. It's mind-boggling. They decided that in this game, they wanted Lamar to stand in the pocket, despite not having good protection, and try to throw the ball 10+ yards every play. To me, this was ultimately a complete failure by Harbs and Monken. Lamar made mistakes too, but I doubt he's the reason that their game plan was broken.
Time for Lamar to take some of that dak Prescott criticism. He completely planked when the game mattered most.
Raven fans have all vowed to protect thier golden child from criticism at all costs, they value flash over substance every time.
@lotsamacha1112 Yeah, I don't get it. It was pretty easy to see what the problem was. I am not a baltimore fan. I am a miami Dolphins fan who also graduated from alabama. I love Tua. But i'm not blind, and he cost us any shot at winning. Kansas City let miami hang around, and at any point from almost 3 quarters, they could have gotten back in the game with one good drive. Tua needs to improve or they will never get to the SB. Doesn't mean he sucks, Just that he's a good regular season quarterback but not a great playoff quarterback, especially on the road. I think it's worse for lamar, because he was at home and had every advantage, including having the better team. Baltimore will not get better by hiding Lamar. You have to identify your weakness in order to make it better, But ravens, fans seem to want to put their head in the sand on this issue.. Maybe if this was the first season this happened, You can get a pass. But this is an overwhelming pattern developing. I am all for them to keep their blinders on, bc it helps Miami.
MVP should definitely include the post season. How’s the MVP not gonna be someone in the SB?
CMC earned it in the regular season and the playoffs.....Lamar had a nice season but in no way should win MVP.
The Super Bowl MVP is for the postseason. MVP is for the regular season. Pretty simple.

The Ravens are puffed-up tough guys filled with hot air... They were very loud and self-inflated then letting Travis Kelse go essentially UNCOVERED on 1/3 of the snaps... That is just stupid / Add to that the Chiefs were in their head all-day
They were trying to cover Kelce, they just couldn’t do it. Mahomes and Travis were playing backyard ball. When they get in the zone together, they are unstoppable!

The game looked clearly to be fixed. 6 run plays from the leading rushing team after signing Dalvin Cook? Cook gets 0 touches, when that was the whole point in signing him? Administrative time out after Lamar breaks for a 27 yard run, then no more run plays called? No one was getting past Taylor $wift and the 300 million she brought in to the NFL. She was always going to be in the Superbowl to bring her fans in for the ratings. I never once thought the NFL was rigged until after that Ravens game. Go watch the last 4 games then this one and it's clear as day.

Kansas city was in the Ravens heads before the game started. Their plan was to rough up the Chiefs as part of a stratagy to through the Chiefs off their game . So stupid!!!!! No way the Ravens are SB winning material.

I want to know why the offensive coordinator of the NFL's top rushing offense decided to call 46 pass plays and 10 designed run plays? It's not like the Chiefs are good at stopping the run, and it wasn't like the Ravens were chasing a lot of points.

Most egregious thing I will always take away from this game is the Ravens ditching the run. How many 1st and 2nd down passes did they run? And not even play action to at least keep the Chiefs honest. I know they wanted to prove Lamar can throw, but you got to this game RUNNING THE BALL.
Zay Flowers was the only one showing up as he helped and hurted the team at the same time.

The ravens didn't run the ball in general, imagine averaging 6 yards a carry and not balancing the offense with designed runs.
TOP after the first half: Chiefs 20 minutes; Ravens 9. That told me all I needed to know about how the game was going to end.
ABSOLUTELY! It's what Buffalo did to KC the week before....then changed everything at the end. Ravens defense was incredible! Praising Mahomes for barely an okay game.

There is no quarterback in the NFL worth $23-260 million guaranteed contract. There is an expectation on the part of ownership and the fans, that this is a guaranteed ticket to the Superbowl. The only way Watson, Russel, and Jackson sees the Super Bowl is if they buy a ticket.

At what point does the Harbaugh discussion start? Before it was Lamar doesn't have any WRs, okay they got him WRs. Then it was the OC sucks, okay they got him a good OC and put together an MVP season, won the divisional round with ease. So, when do we start looking at the HC? Is Harbaugh untouchable because of his name? Harbaugh's seat was warm and getting hot until he benched Flacco and put in Lamar. So, when does Harbaugh start taking some of this heat as the HC for coming up short?
Maybe you should be asking that question about the guy they've bent over backwards to accomodate, who continues to fail
@@TheMattTrakker Its a fair question. Andy Reid is a great play caller and offensive genius. Belichick built great Defenses his entire career. Shanahan is a dynamic offense scheme guy. Sean McVay, not quite as creative as Shanahan but in the same class. What does John Harbaugh do? What is he known for? Im being serious, at what point does he take some heat for coming up short?
After this game it's definitely time. It's been numerous times from both coordinators that we've abandoned our strength or haven't been able to adjust in big games. Harbaugh has to be able take control in game when needed we can't keep going out like this smh.

@scottsodyssey2485 Is an interesting question. I am not sure of the answer. Quarterback's get all the praise and too much of the blame, usually. I'm not sure who should get the blame, As I don't know if it was the gameplan or just the players not executing.. I've heard arguments for both sides. This is the second time this group has had the best team in football and gotten beat at home. There has to be blame for both, but With the defense holding kansas city relatively in check, and having multiple opportunities to score a TD, I think the players get the blame more, bc they didn't get the job done. It's interesting that pete Carroll Got the blame on the INT at the goaline with the Seahawks. I don't have the perfect answer as towho should get the blame, but I think jackson is going to end up getting more of the blame than the coach., Set my because this is not the first time This has happened. The coach made it to a super bowl before I believe, So you could always say it's the player not the coach with that logic.

Never seen a kicker crowd the space of the opposing team trying to warm up . NEVER. Then when you add in all the other infractions/penalties, It looks very much calculated or choreographed and coordinated and spaced out throughout the game.... probably initiated by their coach, That is the only way you could get so many players to agree to it. The one where the defensive guy jumped off side? so egregious that he bowled Smith over? Completely preplanned. They thought they could get the chiefs off their game by intimidation. You can not convince me it wasn't all preplanned.... There can't be that much immaturity on one team.

That just proved how good and valuable Josh Allen is. Give Josh that defence and Tucker and it's a different story. For those screaming about Josh and the Bills SuperBowl window being closed you certainly must feel Lamar's window has been shut.
All of last week every day I kept hearing how tough the Ravens defence was. Rip the chiefs off. Beat the chiefs badly. It all backfired on them. Never count your chickens before they hatch.
Lamar always hits the passes when his guy s 20 yards wide open after scrambling 10 seconds :-). But the DC of KC didnt allow that more than twice.
Chiefs secondary! There were a lot of times where lamar had tons of time to throw but he had no open receivers. And the defensive line was keeping Lamar from running. Keeping him in the pocket. Great game plan, executed really well.
Steve Spagnuolo is the best playoff DC in the business. Just ask Tom Brady.

Ravens coaches got played. They got scared because they went down early and didn’t keep running. SF offense is far too dynamic to get caught up like that, but KC offense will have success as well. 37-31 KC wins it methinks

Chiefs defense dominated end of story. They bullied the ravens into abandoning the run when they were only down by a touchdown is just unfathomable.
The major stat from the box score is the turnover differential. Two were in the end zone. Had they protected the ball maybe it would have been different. Chiefs played a clean and poised game.
Oce Chiefs were up 2 scores, their mission was BALL PROTECTION. An incompletion is fine compared to an interception. Think about it.
@@sixgunn98 no doubt they probably took less risks and could have switched to shootout mode. I was just pointing out numbers and it came down to a team making mistakes versus one that did not. It was a formula used by the Pats, get a lead play great D, run the ball and force mistakes. I guess it still works.

Bengals fan here. Was looking forward to a good game and in some ways it really was because the passion from both teams was there. Some people are blaming Lamar for the loss but in my view, he gave his team a chance to win this year even though KC prevailed. He still didn't play perfect but he did give his team a chance. As many state, the Ravens lack of discipline killed them in the end (just like it did to my Bengals in 2015 vs. the Steelers). I will say in the past some have blamed Allen for losses the Bills took but in both KC playoff games Allen gave his team a chance to win. The bigger point here is you can't ascribe entire losses of a team to a QB as the media typically loves to do.
The Ravens acted like a little dog trying to intimidate a big dog all day long. Severe LDE. The Chiefs knew they had their number from the start.
The game was fixed. John Harbaugh is a great coach and would never call 6 running plays. His hand was forced by the NFL who said “Taylor Swift must be at the Super Bowl”
How does it happen? Pride. They wanted their expensive QB to win against a great QB and it didn’t work. Don’t abandon what makes you successful.
Pacheco avg 2.8 y/c and got 24 carries. Edwards avg 6.7 y/c and only got 3 carries.

The Ravens played the most childish game if seen in years. They reminded me of a local HS team that had extremely talented teams for years but always beat themselves with penalties, turnovers, and rockhead play. I saw Jackson described as Hall-of-Fame ready last week. Please. But of a team of goats, the biggest in my mind was Balt's #4--a taunting penalty and a fumble at the goal line from an unnecessary dive. What an idiot. And by the way, Clowney is awful.

Ravens LB eye gouging luckily only got his own DT! This was the dirtiest team i've seen play in 2 decades. It was targeting. Didn't Show the leg whip on chris jones's braced knee either. IT was easy for the chiefs cause KC showed up to play football. The ravens were only there for a fight.
Nah, lifelong Chiefs fan here. Mahomes is a great QB, but anyone who thinks he deserves MVP this year with this season is wrong. Mind, I don't blame him for all those dropped passes and INTs. People like Lamar or Snead or Flacco should have it because they made a real difference for their team.
What happened? Andy Reid. He has a ton of strong playoff performance. He knows how to make 2nd half adjustments. Experience really counts in the post season.
What happened to the Ravens has a lot to do with Spags and his decision to push his linebanckers into the line daring the Ravens to throw against the Chief's secondary.
Second time in 4 years, Ravens have the best rushing attack in the league and decide to abandon it when it matters most. Complete coaching malpractice.

the moment was too big for the ravens. they made stupid penalties, they couldnt tackle, and they panicked with their offensive playcalling and abandoned the run.
I can't understand that no one sees it.... Lamar Jackson is Tony Romo and Dax Prescott. Who cares what you do in the regular season. He CAN'T win big games. Harbaugh & company over-cooked the game plan in that they abandoned the running game. What were they thinking?! You are not going to turn Jackson into a passer on the level of Mahomes...EVER! This was dumb.

That big TD throw was the worst thing to happen to Lamar. He and the OC spent the rest of the game looking for the big throw.

The Ravens played dirty, plain, and simple. They got what they deserved.
Maybe Spags and the Chiefs took the run away from Lamar, i.e., he didn't run because there were NOT any holes for him. Chiefs plan was: make Lamar pass.
The run is their identity. And they have it up totally and willingly? And Lamar has lost a step. He got caught from behind more than once. That never used to happen
Lamar didn't see the 3 DB's surrounding his interception in the endzone. Horrendous choice.
We call that, "Lamar being Lamar." Shut down the run, make him pass, eventually he will make a mistake. Predictable.
This was the most blatantly one-sided officiating crew I've ever seen... The Chiefs game plan coming in was to play as dirty as they could to taunt and hit after every play... Because they knew the league was only going to call those penalties on the ravens.
Those examples were great.
I'll never understand why the Ravens weren't running the ball more. The Chiefs were able to blitz about half of the time, and it just stymied that offense.
Because that was clearly fixed. I've watched every Ravens game all season, they always ran. That wasn't even close to the same team as the last 4 games, it was blatant.

Un-Ravenslike? Actually, that team has always been undisciplined and dirty. They are exactly who I knew they were. I thought that this year, maybe they got that BS under control, but when the light shines brightest, the cracks appear.
