Don't look under this 67k-mile 2003 Land Cruiser 100 Series if you don't want to be disappointed

We have seen this time and time again. Super low mileage, pristine body, clean interior, and otherwise MINT Land Cruiser that has terrible corrosion on the undercarriage. This one is so bad - it's just a shame. Even the body shows rust and the seller isn't being as forthright as I think they should.

  • I live in Canada… this vehicle is cleaner than any 100 series I’ve ever seen in person. If my lx470 was this clean I’d be happy lol.

  • I’ve owned 7 LCs, currently own three; 2 100s and one 200. One, the 2003, has 350k miles on it and runs like a champ. Zero body rust, plus your typical rust on heavy iron and frame parts. The best test is to tap these rusty parts with a small ball peen hammer. You’ll know real quick whether the rust is deep and the parts structure compromised. I’d buy this particular vehicle all day long for up to $20k. Above that price I’d be looking at 200 series instead. As for the wheel oxidation, thats from leaving PA salt/ash road treatment on the wheels all winter. Just remove wheels and hits back with a wire rotor brush. Not a big deal. I’ve had a 2015 LX 570 as well. Sold it; too much tech. The 2006-2007 100series are still my favorite vehicles. Simple, comfortable and they’ll go damn near anyplace you dare take them.

  • Keep it a buck bro I bought my 01 with 150k from Mount Pocono, PA for $2500. I bought it off an old man up there, who was selling it on Autotrader privately. The entire rear axle had to be replaced so it wasn’t drivable at the time. The rust had damn near eatin that thing alive. It’s insane what the rust belt region does to the undercarriages on vehicles. I do all the work myself so trust me when I say I dread doing work on it. Luckily the rust on the body and frame got taken care of PROFESSIONALLY by a good buddy of mine who I know owns a body shop. If it weren’t for my mechanical skills and some help from a few friends of mine, my truck would be sitting in a junkyard right now and that’s the truth.

  • I've had a couple of these now and that is indeed superficial rust. I don't care if it has texture, I care if it has holes I can't repair. These are never going to be perfect at this age. 5 out of 5 would buy, but not at this price point.

  • With the amount of rust that has it will probably only last 25 more years.

  • Im from manitoba canada. This would be considered a 10/10 here lol. Its got rust starting but you can easily stop it from progrssing any further. Most toyota frames around here are pretty bad youd be hard pressed to find one with out crusty rusty frames.

  • I test drove this in PA. The dealer put it on the lift and was extremely disappointed

    • It's smoke and mirrors. Shameful. Someone is going to be left holding the hot potato.

    • Most definitely. The dealer was “firm” on the 32 5 as well told me it was creating quite the buzz on the internet and compared it to a comp off Bring a trailer from Utah with 0 rust. Lol

    • Yeah, it generates a lot of buzz until people look at the undercarriage and then they run the f*** away.

    • That doesn't make it right :) I'm glad to see you here and appreciating the relatively clean ones we have here then. Trucks from the south or California must really make you jealous?
