    • Nobody wants to be in that situation, Small arms fire, artillery shells, air bursts, cluster shells, mines... All that constantly around you, your death or atleast grave injury almost guaranteed. But real men fight for their freedom and the liberty of their country. So these brave men throw out the russian invaders to the best of their abilites. And yesterday the real counteroffensive started. Now they are pushing with what they got and I hope to god they make huge gains. OTherwise back to the drawing board until F16 and ATACMS arrive, then the russians will have no chance.

  • I've heard some amazing stories from WW1/2/Korea/Vietnam veterans. They can be the most amazing, descriptive story teller but it can still be hard to really fully picture what they did, especially to laymen who don't know much about war/combat. Lots of Ukrainian veterans won't have such a problem. I remember, not long after the war started, I watched an interview with an injured commander who was captured after his tank was taken out. All the while he was telling his story you could see drone footage of the engagement, and even him abandoning the tank (IIRC). First time I had ever seen such a video, it was truly amazing.

  • Ukraine really hasn't learned or adapted. Still the same losing tactics we've seen the entire war. This is what happens when your generals are appointed for who they know and who their family is and when you have more officers than any army in history. Everyone needs a 5 rank demotion in their military. It's wild how many incompetent people have power there. Also they fail the golden rule, build a golden bridge over which your enemy can retreat. When there is no option but to fight people are fierce. They give no opportunity for retreat or surrender of enemy forces, which just increases their own casualties significantly. It has become a punitive war of attrition with too much bad blood, and countless war crimes (on both sides - sadly Ukraine loves to post drone footage of their war crimes, although they'll never be prosecuted for it).
