@@venkatboda3196 These two should be in another category. They sound like wounded animals because of their low-pitched moans. But I do think their grunting is more irritating than Sakkari's or Azarenka's. I could understand why some men could find something likeable about Sakkari's or Azarenka's moan, but, for the life of me, I can't think of any reason to like Tormo's and Haddad Maia's because they don't even sound like women.
for me it's like...i've played tennis my whole life. i know there are players of all kinds and all ages, men and women, who grunt a lot. but there's a difference between grunting and screaming. it's like chewing food with your mouth open. just close your mouth and breathe through your nose. then you're not so freaking loud. these players who are just open-mouth yelling through every ball are just very annoying.

@@Gilgarth They're both horrendous. I can't watch either of them, it's just not worth it. And yes, not even the jets overhead at Flushing Meadows make Sabalenka seem quiet.

Sabalenka's game is best suited to the high altitude of Madrid more than Rybakina's game. Rybakina's flat forehand tend to fly long because there's not much spin to bring the ball down. Rybakina's best shots in Madrid are the backhand crosscourt and down-the-line which have more topspin than her forehand. Her down the line forehand is also better than her crosscourt forehand. It would be awesome if Rybakina and Sabalenka are matched in the semis. Sabalenka has the game for these conditions but she always tends to get rattled when playing Rybakina so it would be an even match.
I don’t think Sabalenka is going to beat Collins.
@@westonmeyer3110 I'm leaning towards Sabalenka in this one because she strikes the ball with more topspin which gives it better chance to find the court especially in this high altitude where the ball tends to float in the air while Collins hits so flat. However, I wouldn't put it past Collins to score the upset.
She doesn't get rattled against Rybakina, her first Slam was against Rybakina
@@yerzhankurmanbay That was when Sabalenka had an undefeated record against Rybakina. Since Sabalenka’s defeat in Indian Wells Rybakina has mostly gotten the better of Sabalenka and she destroyed her in Brisbane. Cancun was the only exception and that was not suitable weather for a tennis match.
Interesting tactics from Sherif, grunted with a woo at first, then at 1:40 switched to the unbearable Errani "Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh", and then when that wasn't working, finished off the match using the Sabalenka grunt style from around 3:40, even on her backhand slice. Glad she got absolutely creamed.

Such a good example to demonstrate that you can win in tennis without annoying grunts
Feel sorry for Rybakina’s ears playing Bronzetti and Sheriff with all those grunts
It’s interesting that she lets those overheads bounce, most pros will hit out of the air, but she gauges the bounce so well.
And I thought the grunting couldn't get worse after Bronzetti ... The way Mayar changes her grunting during the match could at some point be interpreted as hindrance. Maybe some referee should just start doing this - I think others will follow.
The best way to watch such a match is without sound.

elena just needs to hammer the final nail in a bit quicker! she had an opportunity when she was 5-3 up in the second set to close the match out!! having said that, she did come back from 0-40 on her serve!

@@normankennith7919 She always has been the new Sharapova but she needed to learn how to play all around tennis instead of just relying on her serve.
@@westonmeyer3110 Who would`ve thought that women 6ft and above would be excellent on clay. I mean if memory serves right the last player who excelled on clay and won the FO was Mary Pierce in the year 2000.. Taller girls have the tendency to be challenged by the height and movement on clay. Looking at Rybakina her clay development focused on her movement is already an advantage on top of her effective serve and lethal groundstrokes despite of her tall stature... If Maria who is 2 inches taller than Ryba persevered and found ways to win on clay , then Rybakina has all the weapons to win RG too and at best I think her never give up attitude is cleverly hidden and unleashed at the right moments.

If we could get some balanced draws WTA would be a lot more interesting and a lot less bagels and breadsticks…thank goodness the draw they had set up for Elena completely fell apart

As a fan of Rybakina, love everything about her performance and her presence, I still don’t like her net control. Every time she approach the net, her shot placement is not at a place where she can control and cover the majority of return angles. Also feels clumsy from time to time as if she’s not comfortable at the net even though the situation calls for it. Her technical coach needs to step up his game though. Still, congratulations for the win.

I am always happy seeing Sherif lose, her and Trevisan and Tormo and a few others who obviously howl just to annoy and distract the other player. I don't mind loud grunts, I don't, I simply appose the howlers who do it for spite, like Sereno and Venos, too. Congrats, Elena!!!

So despite the random weird grunts, I actually really like Sherif. Not too many pros from her country. She represents well. But she was up against the queen today. Results were as expected.
If one just looks at Sherif's physical appearance, she is actually an attractive woman. But the moment, she plays tennis and starts to grunt, she becomes so much less likeable.
