I stayed at 3 different types of capsule hotels in Japan. A small, medium and large sized capsules. They were all clean, comfy and relatively cheap - Especially if you plan on traveling around Japan solo.

  • *The prices!!* Roughly $30, $80, $45 USD respectively for the ones I went to. But day of the week and location (Tokyo is expensive) are a big factor.

    @HelloDavid@HelloDavid5 жыл бұрын
    • Were all 3 hotels in roughly the same location of Tokyo?

      @woofinu@woofinu5 жыл бұрын
    • No. Specific locations are in the description. The second one was most expensive because it was in Shibuya. The others were in Osaka and Kyoto.

      @HelloDavid@HelloDavid5 жыл бұрын
    • Wait so the first class units at Osaka were cheaper than the millennial ones at Shibuya? So first class units in Shibuya would be touching $150 easily.

    • For $45-$80 you can get decent to nice hotel rooms, even in Tokyo.

  • My sisters and I stayed in a capsule hotel on our last day in Japan when we went there last year. We had come from visiting another town and will just be catching our flight home the next morning so we felt it unnecessary to shell out a lot of money when we just needed a place to sleep. Well, we also did want to experience a capsule hotel at least once. Definitely love the inexpensive price when you just need the basics. Loved seeing these three different ones.

  • Literally stayed in the first one when I was in Osaka last month. It was actually pretty quiet and I slept well, although it helped that it matched up with jet lag getting the best of me so all I wanted to do was crash. As you said, it was nice but one night was enough.

  • I've always been a fan of small cosy spaces, so I feel like I'd actually especially really like the first two. I think my only complaint would be the curtain doors most of these have. Don't think I'd feel like I had any privacy without the ability to lock a door (and a solid one at that). Still would definitely give one of these a go just for the experience though.

  • David Zhang, can you possibly outline how you planned your trip and what you chose to see? I think a lot of your fanbase would like to visit Japan one day, but because it is such a foreign land most of us are not sure of how to tackle planning for it. If you could, maybe in the coming weeks, upload a video detailing the process and what you chose to do, that would be a great help. Thanks :-)

  • 1:53 I'm surprised you managed to find something on tv other than talk shows! Every time I turned it on - morning, noon or night it was always talk shows! And then some very rare anime (which was terrible). The larger capsule hotel seems somewhat suitable but I think I preferred my furnished 16sqm Ota (near Tokyo) Airbnb new apartment for ~$40 per night with my own bathroom/kitchen/laundry etc

  • Bigger guy's beware - I was in Japan two years ago and because I'm 225 lbs, I found I had to make sure anyplace I stayed had an actual mattress rather than a 1" futon in some places that felt like I was basically sleeping on a blanket on the floor.

  • i stayed at the first class cabin in nagoya....i got the first class room which is what you showed. i liked the space but that bed was too firm for me....like sleeping on a wooden board...the japanese like their firm matresses. the capsule i stayed at in sapporo was an all male capsule and didnt have private showers, just communal baths so thats interesting lol...if thats an issue for some, you might want to check and make sure your capsule has private showering areas; most do but some dont, especially the men only capsules.
