  • Can I ask, are you sharing these videos to your personal network? Friends and family?

  • I really enjoy listening to you every day. I have a channel that has 1.8k subscribers but I'm struggling to get views in the past couple years. People have said it's because my channel is old...I've been posting for 9 years. So I started a new channel, basically as an experiment. A few months in I'm up to 759 subscribers...but still low on views. I'm so confused 🤔

    • Thanks for your comment! IMO, the thing about starting a new channel is that it gives you the opportunity to build from the start the community/ viewer base that most aligns with your current creative endeavors. As opposed to trying to "convert" old viewers who may have subbed for a specific reason, to accept a new creative direction. If you do continue to upload to both channels, consider unchecking the "notify subscribers" box on your larger channel and see if YT surfaces your content to a more relevant audience.

    • I got really curious because of the Channel Name which I thought was great, so had to do a quick peak, and I gotta say those vlogs are pretty well produced, music choices spot on, plenty of b-roll to spice things up, nice length on each of the segments, way above average stuff and solid through and through :) Now please take the following comments as just my initial thoughts, I’m a pretty tiny tuber myself at 199 subs and only 9 weeks / 11 videos into this weird and wonderfull world of youtube, but I’ve noticed some behaviours and patterns on my own videos based on experimenting with titles and thumbnails that might be of help or at least a basis for having a discussion around it :) My guess is that since it’s mostly «day to day» vlogging and not *in your face 10 tips about this or that* and *5 ways to make a million on thrifting*, and not the type of content that would show up in search much a lot of people might just «scroll by» rather than «gamble» on clicking on something new. The type of content you have I think typically needs a pretty large, as in way larger, subscriber base to get enough initiall views quickly for youtube to start spreading things, and as Wayne said trying to uncheck the «Notify …» option to force YT to throw the net wider :) And maybe, just *maybe* try to add a little more sauce to the titles/thumbnails in terms of tilting some videos a little more towards value for the user like «x great tips for thrifting gifts» or «X ways to thrift a summer wardrobe» - just adding a little bit of mystery and spice, not going all «youtubeface» but intriguing a little bit more every second or third video and upping the «you might miss out if you don’t click»-factor a tiny bit could go a long way :) The chill casual style is really good, so totally wouldn’t want to change that :) If you look at your statistics and the vids are shown to a large number, but you have few views, ie low click through ratio it’s either KZhead showing your videos to the wrong crowd, *or* it could be a sign the thumbnails and/or titles don’t peak peoples interests.

    • @ thank you so much! I really appreciate the help. I've paid people to help but all they say is "you need better seo" then want me to pay for their services. Thanks again! 💜

    • @@FictionalAdulting-youtube Heh, the «you need better seo»-trap is a sneaky one - especially if there is nothing to optimize, which in a vlog style format like this is *very* hard (having worked with building websites since the late 90’s i know there are several types of content that can’t efficiently be seo’d). My guess is, partially based on those two videos you have on the new test-channel, the «10 tips …» and the «spring cleaning …» one, they both have much more views than the other videos on the test-channel, and they both are *specific* in their titles, offering inmediate value in terms of 10 tips and season related inspiration/value. Some light tweaking of titles/content towards a bit more visible value/payoff for the viewers might just be the thing to up those views, no seo necessary :) If, in addition, you sit down and try to make a list related to thrifting of «evergreen» searchable topics and questions that people have regarding thrifting and related topics, not necessarily «niching down» but making it clear to the potential viewers what value they might get from your videos and mixing that in with your already solid vlogging content and day to day life stuff it might just be the little tweak that’s needed to up the numbers :)

  • I *think* you might not need to worry ;) Example: Peter Lindgren (the Poker B-Roll guy), a creator from Gothenburg in Sweden (which in american distance terms makes him practically my next door neighbour since that city is a 3 hour drive away from where i live ;) is currently at above 600 000 subscribers … which is … *a lot* He has 2 channels, his main photo/video-gear channel and his vlog channel which he started for fun to not dilute the «niche» and audience of his main channel. To this day he takes time to like and heart comments on new videos, and answer several of them, usually for a certain period after the video is published. I’ve personally gotten answers to several questions, and «general» comments directed at something I’ve written which wasn’t a type if question/comment that in any way he would have needed to comment on. Now he could be doing this for several reasons: - He wants to maximize the reach and amount of views on each video out of the gate for those first hours after publishing. - He genuint wants to connect and engage with his followers, even having passed 600k subs. - A mix of both No matter the reason, he takes the time to do this, so unless you hit that 700k mark I don’t think you *have* to loose that connection with us, it’s the creators choice if they want to keep the dialogue going or not, not the amount of subs ;)

    • I love Peter Lindgren! He's one of the big creators who still feels like he connects (although I think it's most his vlog smaller channel that does). It's hard for me to even imagine growing to 700k, but when I eventually hit 700, I won't let it go to my head lol!

    • @@waynesleapyear Yeah he’s great :) and his story is one to be inspired by for sure, hard work and determination pays off along the way :) And don’t worry, if we see any primadonna tendencies when you pass that 700 mark we’ll let you know ;)

  • I still watch every day, I just got tired of commenting because it felt very one-sided; it didn’t truly feel like a dialogue. So I just watch every day and pretend you’re super famous and it’s more like a parasocial relationship. On day 100 you promised a long live session, which didn’t end up happening due to circumstances beyond your control, but there was never really a follow up. And if you have noticed, my comment is peppered with a bit of sarcasm because if we were actually friends, I’d lovingly bust your chops about these little things, but you would know deep down you had my sincere support for what you’re doing here…which you do :)

    • Aaron! So glad you commented! I hadn't seen you upload lately and figured you're traveling in some exotic place where the internet doesn't exist! The last month has been a whirlwind and I'm realizing that things change so much day to day that they year is flying by! I'm still trying to figure out a good epic time to stream so def keep me accountable lol!
