@@joshuajordan4080 Thank you. I think a lot of millennial and z generation probably have not played a Metroid game earlier than Prime, perhaps Super Metroid. My nephew who turns 30 this year did play Fusion, but he doesn't remember it. His nostalgia rests with the Prime series of games. Then there is old ass me who goes all the way back to the original Metroid, and Return of Samus on Gameboy. But yeah, she's been part Metroid since 2003.

It's simple. After the space pirates destroyed earth they kept some jelly fish samples so they could save them for sandwiches. However, the jelly fishes mutated with a model of the pirate jaw line. Thus the metroid have many teeth. Then they mutated with phazon. Then all canon breaks loose.

Oh! You know what would be a cool game mechanic? What if metroids had different forms depending on what they absorb as a baby? Like, if they absorb the energy from a fluffy animal, they'll have fur (Making them immune to cold, but vulnerable to heat?) Or if they absorb a snail or something, they get a harder shell. There's a lot of cool stuff that could be done with that. It's a shame they only mutate on SR388... Which has been blown up.

I think the federation ordered the metroids “extinction” just to ensure no one else but them could get and use them freely.

A detail that seems to have been lost in translation is that the majority of the Federation wanted them destroyed, but there was a smaller sect that brought them back. Though that's just guesswork based on "The Other M that never was" and the subbed version of Other M.

What I find interesting is the prime games make the baby metroid a look almost more deadly than the various forms on sr388. Like it seems like metroids lose much of their ability to siphon energy from their victims, but the Samus returns remake is making me change my mind. Those sr88 metroids are no pushover.

@The Orpheon You forgot to mention the Mocktroids in the water level in SUPER METROID. It is explained that Mocktroids are failed cloned Metroid, they are slow moving and weaker that can be killed easily and when they latch on to Samus they can be easily shaken off. Also when the latch on, they don't drain heavily as much as a regular Metroid. Their pincerfangs are longer, their core is much smaller as well as just having one instead of three and for the most part they are seen under water.
These Metroids are really intersting as they can evolve beyond what most would belive but you have to think that something like this maybe faceon was something that had it skip the evolution of a queen and go further which can mean that monster is just yet to be discovered as having multiple maybe that was the only one we've seen because us as Samus kill the queens before they can reach that stage and if I'm right that means that isn't the final evolution

Metroids are probably the Xenomorphs of the series since the Queen has the tubes like a Xenomorph that don't seem to have a purpose. Besides, Metroids are basically super vampires that are weak to cold instead of sunlight, crosses and so on. Eventually Metroids turn into giant life sucking T-Rex monsters that BREATH FIRE! Then there's the Queen that might as well be a small Gamera assuming Metroids are able to still float in all of their forms.

About the beginning (spoilers) It turns out the reason mother brain had the idea to do is is cause the Chozo traitors tried to use the Metroids and the X as bioweapons in the first place, and massacred the other Chozo by creating power suits led under Dryn

After playing through Dread, here are my thoughts on Metroids. Their name means "Ultimate Warrior," so there has to be more to them than just exterminating the X Parasite. Dread has me convinced that the Thoha and Mawkin tribes have been in a sort of cold war for decades. The Thoha tribe was spread out and dwindling in numbers while the Mawkin appeared to be staying strong. The Thoha realized that they were in a losing position if war started between them. Metroids were created to see Thoha as their masters and Mawkin as their predators; this has to have been a hint that when the Metroids were done with the X Parasite, the Thoha were planning on using Metroids against the Mawkin, either in direct combat or at least as a weapon to provide them more bargaining power, kind of like nuclear weapons in today's world.

I've had an ongoing theory going on a while ago ever since the end of Prime 3 and wasn't truly satisfied with Phazon's origins. And so far, even with this new game, it hasn't been shot down as impossible. If you're interested I could shoot you a PM or something and you could maybe present this as a theory video.
I saw Phaaze as a good explanation of where the Phazon came from because it tied itself a bit with the Chozo lore on Tallon IV (foreseeing a planet which sends the 'worms' aka Leviathans) and later a bit with the Luminoth lore on Aether (even a bit of the Reptilicus during the Age of Schism on Bryyo) but I am still open to theories as long as they are somewhat grounded by the facts we see in the games (if not anything any theory can be quite possible?)

Dude, Metroids are also in the NES classic Blaster Master. They show up the first time you encounter water and are duplicated as an aquatic enemy. They done behave like traditional metroids, but there is no mistaking what they look like.

If you actually bothered reading all the Space Pirates' science log entries related to Metroids, you'd learn that most of those transformations were caused by taking the Metroids to environments radically different from that of their home planet. The Space Pirates discovered that Metroids are ridiculously adaptable, able to transform directly (rather than rely on the mechanisms of Darwinian evolution) to be better suited to new environments. It was only AFTER they learned this, that they decided to expose some to Phazon, to learn what sorts of new forms this could create.
