  • One of the most spectacular force of nature moments I ever experienced, was while standing on my 3rd floor apartment's balcony, a massive bolt of lightning came down about 1/4 km. away from me. It appeared to be at lease 20 feet in diameter and seemed to last about 1-2 seconds. I felt the force push me back slightly and the air around me smelt of ozone. While describing it to my workmates the next morning, a newscast came over the radio saying it had grounded on an underground metal waterpipe, leaving a 6 foot crater 4 feet deep.
