In this video I discuss the most overrated and overhyped things about the greatest MMA fighters of all time. Although each of the fighters that I discuss in this video are special, there are minor criticisms of their careers that I want to discuss. I talk about Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Khabib, Alexander Volkanovski, GSP, and Mighty Mouse. Let me know what you think in the comments.

  • This still does not change the fact that Anthony Smith's individual skillsets on paper are better than Jon Jones' skillsets. 50-45 Lionheart.

    @rt_style@rt_style3 ай бұрын
    • Smith made a fatal error in negotiations by agreeing to have the fight in an octagon instead of on a large sheet of paper where he would've R1 KOed Jon. Rumor has it Jon's corner wiped sweat off him between rounds with a paper towel, and that caused the cognitive dissonance that made him throw the illegal knee, so paper still almost won the title for Smith if he took that DQ.

His argument doesn't carry much weight because he's basically just saying "Well Aldo was still winning fights against good fighters" and yeah he was, but there's a massive difference between beating the best of the best and beating good to great fighters.

  • Khabib had the most gradual, pampered beginning in history of the sport. His record is that of a modern boxer. Fighting absolute bums for 15 fights just to pad his record. His 15th fight was against a guy making a debut. But to his credit, he kept improving and stayed above his competition at the pinnacle of the career. But man, he's lucky that the skill curve he faced wasn't as steep as for your average fighter, he would've definitely lost. • These arguments against Anderson Silva‘s greatness, never add up. He didn’t fight good competition? We only consider it not good competition because he dominated them and made it look easy. Who is he supposed to fight? These were the other best fighters in the whole fucking world at the time, so what, is he supposed to go to another planet to find better competition? if he’s beating everybody that’s put in front of him and all the top contenders, just because they don’t have a big enough name and aren’t as popular, doesn’t make it less of an accomplishment. You also mentioned James Irving who was actually at 205, along with Forest Griffin, and Stephan Bonner, and he finished Stefan Bonner way quicker and in more devastating fashion than Jon Jones did. If you count those three light heavyweight fights, and the one with Travis Lutter, who missed weight and add them to his title defenses he still holds the record, and he shouldn’t be punished just for being man enough to go up in weight like Jon Jones took six years to do and dodged Francis Ngannou, or anybody that would be a threat to him.

Tim also finished Matt Schnell on TUF who is currently ranked and is still giving tough fights to prospects and contenders today.

  • lol this was a lot of fun. I will say that while I am very impressed with how much you know about what's going on in the game today I definitely think you are selling the Mike Goldberg era guys short especially Anderson Silva. Dan Henderson was the 185 and 205 Pride champion when he came over so he was the Pride champ champ. It's hard for MMA fans to think about it now but there was a time when Pride was a legitimate equal to the UFC not a second tier organization like Bellator. So Anderson beating him was actually a huge accomplishment.

  • Regarding Khabib's resume. Isn't Justin Gaethje an elite defensive wrestler? Going into the fight, Justin was confident that Khabib would never get a takedown on him, because his wrestling history he never got taken down. I haven't looked into his wrestling history, but that's what he said going into the fight. Justin has bad submission game, but my impression is that he is an elite wrestler with devastating striking, but Khabib was able to take him down and manhandle him all the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • His initial takedown defense is really good but he's not good at scrambles and chain wrestling like an Usman, Darisuh, or Gamrot. Also his non existent submission game really brings down his grappling as whole. He's only fought 2 grapplers in his whole UFC career. Firmino gave him a hard time in the grappling even though it was a young Justin, he still made it extremely competitive.

    • there was a lot of talk before their fight about "hes never faught anyone with hands that has this good of take down defence as justin" but they feel differently now but they were def saying that a lot before their fight

    • @@keithromero7181 "no" what? Justin is a self-proclaimed defensive wrestling expert and got taken down by Khabib with ease and swiftly got submitted shortly afterwards.
