More than 40 leaders from around Europe are in Prague for the first meeting of the new European Political Community. This European Union initiative will bring together EU leaders with countries beyond the bloc's borders, including Britain, Turkey, Ukraine, Switzerland, and Norway. The meeting takes place as Europe battles an energy crisis and economic turmoil that has been worsened by Russia's war in Ukraine.

If there is no conflict no one would notice NATO exist. Unfortunately, this is no longer working. They need to think high. That time is over. This means Germany has almost no voice on the Council of Europe and its much harder to bully any of the main powers via weight of numbers as its really only the UK and France that have a decent military in Europe and thus a viable voice. This ''new'' community is just the EU trying to extend its power mostly in the direction of the UK and Norway.

It allows smaller countries to air grievences or raise alarms in ways that they couldn't from outside the EU. It also means they can air grievances without the politics of the EU. The one thing I will say though is I'm curious if the leaders of countries will attend each session. Maybe they'll have permanent representatives like the UN. Also, like the UN, it could potentially get sidelined if these discussions end up not getting action behind it.

    • Even if you get Indy, you won’t join the EU. Got national deficit is triple the maximum the EU requires, also all 27 member nations have to agree and I doubt Spain would as they have their own separatist problem in their country and letting Scotland join after leaving the UK would send a signal to the separatists in their country that they too can leave and join the EU. Also the process to join the EU can take years, if not decades (look at Turkey). Scotland bleeds money like crazy and unless taxes were hiked up and public services were cut I doubt Scotland would economically survive 5-10 years. Also leaving would throw more questions up in the air such as the border with England, the Currency Scotland would use (the Pound is owned by the Bank of England), trade with England, trade tariffs. It would be an even messier Brexit and worse for Scotland. It wouldn’t be just a case of “we leave and join the EU right away and everything is hunky dory”

We are a colony robbed and run by a corrupt hierarchy.
